HEARTBREAK

Annabelle waits for Samantha to finish with her visit. Samantha finally walks out of Harry's ward meeting Annabelle face-to-face.

Samantha: (Drops her purse in shock. Stutters) Ann...Anna..Wha... What are you doing here?.

Annabelle: I should be the one asking you that. What are you doing here?.

Samantha: (Stutters) I... I..., I...

Annabelle: (Getting frustrated) Do you by chance know that person? (refers to Harry). I want to know how you know my boyfriend who has been in comma for 2 months now.

Samantha: (Suddenly exclaims in shock) Your boyfriend!?. My son is your boyfriend!?.

Annabelle: (Her heart drops in shock) What?. No!. I've met his mom and you're definitely not her.

Samantha: (Tries to grab a hold of her hand but Annabelle moves back) Anna!.

Annabelle: Who are you?. Who do you think you are to lie to me like that?.

Samantha: I'm not lying to you. He's really my son. (Geoffrey, Jenifer and Diana arrive the scene).

Diana: (Suddenly curious after seeing Samantha) Who are you? (Samantha turns and faces them. To Annabelle) Anna, who is she?. Is she your aunt? (Annabelle doesn't say a word and Geoffrey finally decides to speak).

Geoffrey: Diana!. There's something we never got to tell you and your brother. Actually, this woman here is Harry's mother.

Diana: (Shocked) What!?.

Geoffrey: When she gave birth to Harry, she didn't want to be a mom. She left him with me and she never returned. She's actually my ex wife. The first woman I married before I met your mom.

Diana: (Suddenly angry) What?. And you never told me this?, even to Harry who deserved to know more than I did?. What is going on here?. I still don't get it.

Annabelle: (Suddenly speaks) So, my boyfriend happens to be the son of my step mom!.

Geoffrey/Jenifer: (Extremely shocked) What?.

Diana: (Turns to Annabelle, even more shocked) Your step mom?. Wait!. You're joking right?.

Annabelle: (Falls to the floor as she cries in frustration. Her Lips mumbling) in all of my 20-years, why did this have to happen to me?. (Samantha tries to hold her but she pushes her away) Don't you dare touch me.

Geoffrey: (To Samantha) I think you've over stayed your welcome.

Samantha: (Stutters) But...(Geoffrey suddenly interrupts her).

Geoffrey: (In a loud voice) He's no longer your son!. The only reason why I called you here is because I felt the tendency to tell you if anything should happen to him. We don't want you here and you're not welcomed.

Jenifer: (To Samantha) I raised him as if I was his real mother. So as his mother, I don't want to ever see you here or near him ever again. You should leave.

Samantha: (Turns to Annabelle) I'm sorry (slowly walks away after picking up her purse on the floor).

Diana: (Kneels beside Annabelle and tries to console her, but Annabelle stands and walks away) Anna!.

Jenifer: Let her go. She needs time to herself.

At the Road Side

Annabelle decides not to take a bus as she slowly walks home feeling shocked and traumatized. She talks to herself, as if to be in some kind of mental state.

Annabelle: (Repeatedly)My life has been a lie, my life has been a lie, my life has been lie.

Days go by and Annabelle stays home. She doesn't visit the hospital, she doesn't attend her online classes, she takes off from work and only stays in her room all day.

At Annabelle's Apartment

Clarissa walks into the bedroom with pasta that she made.

Clarissa: (In a slow voice) Anna. I made you something. Would you like to try it?.

Annabelle: I'm not hungry.

Clarissa: (Sits beside her, twirls the fork around the pasta making sure to carry a lot. She blows on it and extends her hand to feed Annabelle) Here, I blowed it for you. I won't leave this room until you eat (Annabelle opens her mouth slowly and Clarissa feeds her).

Later at Night

Still in Annabelle's Apartment,

In The Bedroom.

Annabelle: (Writes on her diary. Dear diary, today I found out Harry's real mother turns out to be my stepmom. I have so many questions and so many regrets. What will he do when he finds out that I'm actually his half-sister, what if he never wakes up?. I need answers).

A Week Later

At The Hospital

Geoffrey and Diana are sitting outside, in front of Harry's ward.

Geoffrey: (To Diana) How is Annabelle coping?. Did you try checking in on her?.

Diana: I tried, but she won't let me see her. I pity her so much. A lot of bad things are happening to her right now and I have no idea on how to help her. She won't come here either.

Geoffrey: (Suddenly exclaims) She does!.

Diana: (Surprised) Huh?.

Geoffrey: Only from afar and then she goes back home.

Diana: How did you know?.

Geoffrey: I've seen her a few times while sitting out here. (Suddenly exhales) Poor child!.

The Next Day, Still At The Hospital.

Annabelle arrives and she walks into Harry's ward reluctantly. There is no one around at the moment.

Annabelle: (Walks to Harry's side and grabs his hand while massaging it softly, she sits beside him) I was gone for too long. I tried to think things through and I realized what we have is of no use, since we're siblings. I'm so sorry. (Suddenly down crying) I'm sorry, I'm sorry (repeatedly). I wish it didn't have to be this way, I wish this was all a dream, that I'd wake up one day and still be by your side, but it's not. Why did this have to happen when we barely started dating?. You were my knight and shining amor. At the most complicated point of my life, you came in and showed me the light I had never seen. At first I wasn't sure whether you liked me or not, but with time I started liking you too. You showed me what it meant to be in love. I felt loved because of you. It hurts that I have to let go. I hope you wake up soon and that you're healthy. (Stutters) I..., I hope you don't come looking for me. I hope you don't cry because of me. (Moves closer to kiss him but she pauses and moves back) Good bye, Harry!. (Stands up and leaves).
