Chapter 3: Assassination

After locking the dead bodies inside the room, June zipped the bags containing the explosives and immediately brought it down the parking lot with the help of Laplace. As they reached the parking space on the lower floor, the two walked closer to a white van with rolled-up black tinted windows.

"Aren't we suppose to dispose of these things?" Asked Laplace as he drag the wheeled suitcase and rest it next to the van.

"I might have a good use for these someday." June answered then knocks on the van's side door but there is no respond from the inside of the van. He continued on knocking but still there is no response.

"You sure there is someone inside?" Laplace ask as he tried to take a peek inside via looking closer through the window of the van.

June now irritated by the slow response, slams open the door. Revealing a girl in hoodie wearing a pair of headphones sitting at the back seat of the van as she types on the laptop sitting on her lap.

The two of them can hear the music the girl is listening, due to the parking lot being soundless and because she is listening it with maximum volume.

Noticing that the door of the vehicle opened, she turns her attention to the open door having a tired look on her face seeing that it was just June who opened it.

"Oh it's you…" she said while bringing the headphones down her ears and hangs it on her neck.

"Don't, 'Oh it's you' me!" he replied very irritated by her respond.

"Yeah, yeah…" she replied with a bored face while she continued typing on her computer.

"I already cleared the archives of the security cameras on that specific floor you asked me earlier." She said, still typing on her laptop.

"And I already added you to the guest list for that party." She added while reaching June an envelope she took from her hoodie.

June, after grabbing the envelope immediately placed it inside his suit and placed the bags he brought inside the van. Noticing it, she turned her gaze to June and noticed some bags besides him.

"What's with the bags?" she asked, curious of its contents.

"C4s." he replied as he placed the last one inside the van.

"Oh… C4s… What?!" startled she sprung up inside the van while holding her laptop with both her hands as she hits the ceiling of the vehicle with her head with a thudding sound.

Hurt on the process, she placed her computer on the chair and gently rubbed the small bump on her head.

"You shouldn't sprung up like that inside a vehicle you know." He said, thinking that doing such action will definitely hurt someone because the ceiling and the chair only has a small gap that is just enough for a fully grown person to sit comfortably.

"Well it won't happen if you didn't place some deadly explosives inside the van!" she exclaimed, pointing on the bags June palace inside.

"Where did you even get those things?" she added, worried that it might explode if not handled carefully.

"Don't worry about it, it won't blow off unless you push this button." Said June, while he throws a black object to the girl inside.

"Are you nuts?! What if it blows accidentally?!" she said after catching the remote June throws to her.

"Then you'll be a ground meat." He said with a smirk on his face.

"Aren't those bags heavy?" she asked, diverting the topic back to the bags of C4s.

"Well they are, so I did asked help from someone." June said, looking to where Laplace is standing.

The girl crawled slowly on top of the chair of the van, showing only her head outside and looks on the same direction as June's, but she only noticed one thing.

"There's no one there." She said

Surprised, June looks at the girl that is now staring on the same direction as where he's recently looking at then gazes back to Laplace.

Laplace then shook his head from left to right, telling June to not insist more on the topic.

"Well, never mind. Maybe he went to a washroom." The girl said as she sat back and placed her laptop on top of her lap again then grabs her headphones hanging on her neck to resume on listening to her music, but halfway on wearing it back, she halted for a brief moment and look at June's face.

"You should focus on the mission ahead." She added with a serious look

June nodded then closed the door after, turning his back on the van and walks away from it. Laplace followed upon seeing June.

"So, no one else can see you except me?" June asked Laplace, now walking besides him.

"It would be weird if other people can see me right?" he answered as they reached an elevator and pressed its button to call for it, then went in as the door opened.

"And it is convenient if no one else can see me besides you." He added while they went inside the elevator.

As the two of them reached the floor June selected, the elevator door opened and revealed a double doored function room with guards in suits station on the front while checking the invitation cards of the guest that are coming in.

June puts on pair of eye glasses and tidy himself as he walk near the guards on the entrance.

Good thing that Laplace is not visible to others except him, for the reason that he only have one fabricated invitation on hand. As the guards scanned his invitation card's barcode and all information of the holder appeared on the monitor of a computer on the desk nearby, but of course those are also fake.

With the thumbs up of the operator he then was approved to pass through by the guards.

He smoothly went inside and started to blend in with the crowd, while scanning his eyes around like he is looking for something amongst the guest inside.

Until he found the one person he is looking for, an old gentleman talking to the guest and courteously entertaining them, passing from one group of visitors to another, always giving off a warm smile after he greets them and shakes their hand.

June went closer to the man, and greeted him.

"Good evening mister Torrez!" June greeted the white haired gentleman as he reached out his right hand for a hand-shake.

"Oh! Same to you too… mister…?" the man asked, confused for not knowing the identity of June.

"Oh, pardon me. It's Cross, I came here to your party because of a business proposal my company wants to discuss with you." June said with a smile on his face as he reached his calling card to him.

As the man reads the card, he immediately remembered something about a joint project proposal.

"Oh! You're from that multibillion company that operates worldwide. I did remember you have a proposal about… I think it's about…." He tries to recall what it is about, but was immediately interrupted by June

"I want to close the deal as soon as possible, so can we talk to a much quieter place?" June said as he look to the man with a gentle smile.

"Sure, sure… lets go to a room just next door and have a cup of tea." The man answered, guiding June to a certain direction followed by four of his bodyguards.

As they reach a room just a few steps away from the banquet hall, one of the guards opened the door. As they went in the other two guards stayed outside watching the door, while the other two went in with them.

The man named Torrez sat on a couch while he pointed June now known as Cross to sit on the opposite couch facing him.

June followed his instruction and sat on the sofa facing the man while his guards are standing behind him.

As the two of them now sitting facing each other the man poured some tea on the teacups that is currently on the table.

"So what is it that your company needs us to discuss?" the old man said taking a sip on the cup, June on the other hand kept his silence for a few seconds until he decided to stand up from where he is sitting and walks towards the old man.

"Well, you see mister Torrez…" he said, now behind the sitting man.

The old man turns his head around so that he could see him clearly, as he did, he saw the cold gaze of June towards him, and in an instant a pair of suppressed shot was heard along with a clinking sound of metal falling on the ground followed by a pair of thuds.

"You… Why?" the old man stuttering in fear while looking at June.

Seeing two of his guards killed in an instant, the old man tried to shout for help but was instantly shot by June from behind his head, slamming his head on the table making a loud enough noise to be heard outside the room.

'Oops, I should have caught him before he hits the table.' June thought, as he stepped closer to the door.

The door opened quickly responding to the noise created and in the two remaining guards but was immediately neutralized by June the shooting them down.

"One more to go." He said as he walks back to the banquet hall and saw Laplace standing on a corner.

June walked closer to him and now they are standing side by side looking on the huge crowd socializing.

"Seems like you're one of those better-off dead." Laplace said still looking on the masses.

"You're one to talk." June answered.

"We better go to the last of your list." Said Laplace pointing to a person on the crowd.

But before June can react, the guards on the room are now increasing and as if they are looking for someone and the guest inside are now starting to worry about what is happening.

"Maybe next time. He'll definitely come for me anyway" June said as he walks towards the exit of the room.

On a distance, a man looking at June lets out a menacing grin in the same room.

"Running away, aren't you June?"
