EIGHT

The next day when I went to school and told Mike everything that had happened the previous day.

'Wow! I didn't knew that my friend was so intelligent in case of girls.' Mike said.

I rolled my eyes.

'You wouldn't have told her about your feelings for her.' he said.

'Yeah.' I replied.

'I knew that.' he said.

'I feel afraid. I don't want to lose what we have in between us. There is quite a progress since she considers me as her best friend.' I said.

'That's a good sign. But don't make it too late.' he warned.

I nodded.

'Well the next step is to take revenge against Ryan.' I said.

'That's easy. We'll have to get hold of Ayesha first.' he said.

'What's the plan?' I asked.

He explained the plan to me.

During the interval, I saw Ayesha standing in front of her class, chatting with her friends. I didn't want to have a conversation with her after she had proposed me but according to the plan, I had to do it. I called her. She turned back and her face lit up. She came near me.

'Yes?' she asked.

'I wanted to tell you something.' I said.

She smiled. This was the first time I was initiating a conversation with her though she had tried to talk to me many times.

'What is it?' she asked.

'I know you may be heartbroken after hearing this but this will be a precaution for you.' I said.

She looked confused.

'Yesterday, Ryan proposed Adah.' I lied.

Her eyes widened. She was shocked.

'What!' she said as tears welled up in her eyes.

'Yesterday during the lunch break, he had met her at the back of the building and proposed her. Adah politely declined the proposal but you should know that he is just using you. He doesn't love you.' I said.

She cried.

'Not only that. You don't know about him. He's a drug addict.' I said.

'What?' she asked, horrified by hearing what I just said.

'Yes.' I said.

'This just doesn't seem real. It's hard to believe all these.' she said.

'I'm telling the truth. Believe me. Don't you trust me?' I said, trying to make puppy face which I'm sure must have failed miserably.

'I do.' she said.

She looked into my eyes. It was hard to take my eyes away but I had to.

'I said this so you wouldn't have to suffer in the future.' I said.

'Thanks.' she said and went away.

'All went well?'Mike asked as I entered my class.

'Yep. Though I feel sad for her. She was crying.' I said.

'What we did is for her betterment and your revenge against Ryan.' Mike said.

'Yeah.' he said.

'I would suggest you to leave Adah and consider Ayesha for you. She would accept you right away. Easy for you.' Mike said.

I glared at him in anger.

'I was just saying it. Sorry.' he said, holding his ears and laughing.

'You better don't say it again.' I said.

He nodded and winked.

'What if I told you to leave Tina?' I asked.

'I can't think about that.'

'Same with me.'

'Now, Ryan would be in rage and would be looking for you.'

'Yeah.'

'And the mister is here!' Mike said as I saw Ryan coming towards us.

He was furious.

'What's your problem?' Ryan asked me.

'Nothing.' I said.

'Then why did you have to tell Ayesha all those nonsense?' he asked.

'I told the truth.' I said.

'Truth? You told her that I proposed Adah while it was she who did it.' he barked.

'Rest of the things which I said were truth.' I said.

'Why? What do you want? he asked.

'I wanted revenge and I got it.' I said.

'Why?' he asked.

'For whatever you said yesterday. You insulted her.' I said.

'I said the truth.' he said.

'Whatever.' I said, rolling my eyes.

'You'll pay for what you did.' he said.

I chuckled.

'This is for Ayesha.' he said, punching my face hard.

I punched his face back. He fell down and his mouth started bleeding. It broke out into a major fight and every person in our class had to interfere to stop us.

'What were you trying to do there? Show heroism?' Adah scolded me.

'I was just trying to make him pay for what he did yesterday.' I said.

'Why did you have to bring Ayesha in between all this?' she asked.

'She didn't deserve him. She deserved to know the truth.' I said.

'What if something had happened to you?' she asked, her sound full of concern towards me which I loved.

'Nothing happened, right?' I said. She smiled.

'No one can have a better friend than you.' she said.

I smiled.

I was walking through the corridor of our school during lunch break after having my lunch. Mike and Sam were also there with me. I saw Ayesha coming towards us.

'Thank you, Aman. I don't know what would have happened in the upcoming days if you hadn't told me about Ryan.' she said.

'It's okay.' I said.

'Did you get hurt in the fight?' she asked, her voice showing concern.

'No. I'm alright.' I said.

'I feel sorry that you had to get into that fight just because you told me the truth.' she said, looking into my eyes. Her eyes were light brown in colour, just as Adah's but were more larger.

'It's..... It's fine.' I replied.

'Then, I shall go now. See you later.' she said.

'Ah.... Yeah.' I said.

'Bye.' she said, waving her hand.

'Bye.' I said, waving back and she smiled before going away.

Mike and Sam were looking at me.

'She likes you.' Mike said.

'I don't think so. She had proposed me before, but now I think she has moved on.' I said, rolling my eyes.

'I don't agree with you. The way she looks at you.... it says only one thing, she loves you.' Mike said.

'Whatever. I don't like her in that way. I like Adah and you know that.' I said and he just shrugged.
