Atifa's pov :
"You guys are being emotional like you won't be meeting again." Emaan's brother Zeeshan, - who came here to pick her up - commented, making us both glare at him with our teary gaze.
"Shut up. You aren't allowed to interrupt us. We never know." Emaan chided angrily, making him raise his hands up in surrender as he looked at us with wide eyes.
"Leave it Emaan. I'm going to miss you." I interrupted as she continued to glare at him, turning her attention back at me.
"I'm going to miss you more." Tears were streaming down her face as she hugged me, making me cry too. I sniffed before wiping my tears and hugging her back.
"It's okay, we will meet again soon In Sha Allah." I tried to console her but it was all in vain.
"But it won't be the same. You got married. And you will forget me now. And I don't know when we will be able to meet again." She cried harder saying this while clutching onto me like her life depended on it.
"Ya Allah ladki! I won't forget you, don't worry. And we will keep talking, right? We will also continue to keep meeting each other like before In Sha Allah. I just got married, I ain't going anywhere." I replied, hugging her back tightly, now highly conscious of the fact that her brother was here too, and everyone might be watching us being an emotional wreck.
(Oh God girl!)
"In Sha Allah. But you have grown so old. You even got married." Emaan wailed, making me flushed.
"Now you are being dramatic. I'm not that old either." I stated slowly, trying to hide my face in her hijab.
But it seemed like my voice wasn't as low as I intended for it to be. Because I heard her brother's voice just as I completed my statement. "Over dramatic would be the correct word." He muttered loud enough for us to hear.
"Can't you guys let me shed some tears for her nikkah peacefully? And also for her rukhsati in advance? I don't want to ruin my makeup that day." Came her muffled reply as she lightly slapped my shoulder, her hysteria a bit controlled now as she ignored her brother's statement.
"Oh how considerate of you Emaan." I mumbled annoyedly. "And I'm the one on periods but it looks like you are having my mood swings." I whispered, making her chuckle as she shook her head, releasing me slightly from her tight grip.
"Who told you I can't be on my periods too? Best friends forever goals, you know?" She muttered with a smile, her face flushed now as she looked around at everyone.
"Your mood swings are worse than mine, you know?" I muttered as I moved away from her while shaking my head.
"Yeah yeah, whatever." She replied, now glancing at him, who was standing in a corner talking to his brother, occasionally glancing in our way, his gaze had a concerned look in it which kind of made me feel warm? Okay, I was definitely over analysing things.
"Now don't do anything stupid or crazy." Half of my statement was left hanging in the air as she made her way towards him, ignoring me. There she goes. Again. A sigh escaped my lips as I looked at them, waiting for her to do whatever she wanted to do.
"Bhaijaan, I'm taking Atifa with me." She told him, making him confused as he frowned at her, not understanding where this was going. Even I was confused. What was she trying to do?
When he didn't reply, she added with a sigh. "You won't ask me where? Or why? Or any other question for that matter?"
"No? I mean she is your friend, so I would understand if you would like to take her with you." He replied, making me suppress my giggle. Emaan just stared at him in disbelief.
"Aunty aap kaisa daamad leke aayi hai? Inko to apni biwi ki bhi fikar nahi!" Frowning, Emaan turned to look at ammi who was smiling, amusement dancing in her eyes. I glanced at him just to watch him getting more confused as his gaze flickered between ammi and Emaan before finally settling on me.
(What a son-in-law you have brought aunty!? He doesn't even care about his wife.)
I looked back at Emaan, thinking what might she be planning. "Mere damaad ko kuch mat bolo. Wo bohot masoom hai, use tumhari chaale samajh me nahi aayegi." Ammi replied, taking his side.
(Don't say anything to my son-in-law. He is very innocent, he won't understand your mischief.)
"Jee jee, le lein aap bhi uski side." She muttered, turning back to look at him. "I will be taking her with me because you didn't give me meri juta chupai rasam ki keemat. Wo alag baat hai I couldn't hide your shoes because I kind of forgot, but now you will have to give me money warna I'm going to take her with me right now!" She told him while folding her arms and looking at him with a sweet smile.
(Yeah yeah, you too take his side.)
(I will be taking her with me because you didn't give me my shoe hiding money. It's another matter that I couldn't hide your shoes because I kind of forgot, but now you will have to give me money or else I'm going to take her with me right now!)
I deadpanned. Was this girl serious?! Was she ever going to stop with these things? But I couldn't help the amused smile when I saw him looking at her dumbfounded. "What?" Was all that he could utter while looking around at everyone, a frown on his face.
"Yes, now I want my money because Amira is too small for that but don't worry, I will share it with her." She exclaimed happily while extending her hand forward.
"So you're telling me, if I don't give you the money, you will take her with you?" He questioned, raising a brow.
"Yes." She replied, feeling accomplished.
"Okay then, you can take her with you. I don't mind it at all." He replied while glancing at me. I could notice a hint of an amused smile there, making me gape at him, shocked at his answer.
"WHAT? No! Aunty dekhiye na. Aisa thodi hota hai. Sach me aapke damaad ko aapki beti ki koi fikar nahi hai." Emaan whined, turning to look at ammi with a pout. "Atifa dekh lo tumhara husband kaisa hai! I don't like him anymore." This time she turned to look at me, annoyed.
(WHAT? No! Aunty look at him. This isn't fair. Your son-in-law actually doesn't care about your daughter.)
(Atifa see how your husband is! I don't like him anymore.)
"Who told you to like him anyway." I muttered under my breath, making her brother chuckle, which in turn made me flushed. So my mutter wasn't as low a mutter as I intended of it to be.
"I'm asking you for the last time, are you sure I can take her with me?" Emaan questioned him, her voice surprisingly calm.
"Yes I'm sure." His reply was amused, and I realised everyone was enjoying watching the show.
"Okay then." She smiled at him before quickly grabbing his mobile from his hand and running to me, her laugh echoing around us. She did it so quickly that he was left dumbfounded for a moment as he kept staring at his hand. Ammi chuckled while shaking her head while I tried to suppress my laugh. Everyone else had an amused smile adorning their faces. "Aapko apni biwi ki to padi nahi hai, lekin kam se kam apne mobile ki to padi hogi na." She smirked while dangling his mobile from her hand.
(You don't care about your wife, but at least you care about your mobile.)
"Now this is cheating." He said while shaking his head. "Biwi nahi to mobile le rahi ho. Matlab ke tumhe tumhare paise chahiye hi chahiye, haina?" He added, his gaze flickering to me as he stepped forward.
(If not my wife then you are taking my mobile. So you want your money no matter what, right?)
Emaan squealed before handing me the phone and hiding behind me. "Don't you even dare give it to him. Pehle unhe bolo mere hisse ke paise mujhe dein wo." She instructed, peeking from behind me while making me his target.
(First tell him to give me my money.)
"You heard her." I shrugged while folding my arms, an amused smile on my face with the mobile still in my hand.
"Yes, go and team up with your best friend." He said, exasperated, while looking around. "So no one is going to help me out?" He asked, incredulously.
His bhai and bhabi just shook their head while beaming at him, making him sigh in response. "That's her right Saad. Let her enjoy it." Bhai finally said from behind him, making me chuckle. His gaze landed on me hearing my voice as he glared at me. I bit my lip while looking away, trying my hardest not to burst out laughing at his expression right there and then.
"Aapko kitna chahiye?" He asked her sweetly.
(How much do you want?)
"Zyada kuch nahi bas kuch 5,000." She replied back sweetly, faking innocence as she stepped forward to stand beside me. It was funny to see his distraught expression.
(Nothing much, just around 5,000.)
"Actually nahi, ye lijiye abhi aap isi se kaam chala lijiye." After composing himself he replied while taking out 1,000 dollars from his purse and extending it to her.
(Actually no, this will have to do for now.)
She chuckled before squealing in delight and grabbing the money. He just shook his head at her antics. "Accha ab aap Amira ko khud hi de dijiyega kyuke mai abhi jaa rahi hu." She stuck her tongue out at him before pulling me in a bone crushing hug. "I will miss you girl." She whispered, becoming emotional again.
(Okay now give Amira her money yourself because I'm going now.)
"I will miss you too Emaan." I replied while hugging her back.
"Take care and keep calling me. Allah hafiz." She whispered once again and I replied the same before leaving me to hug ammi and bhabi. "Bhaijaan ko unka mobile de do ab." Just as she was leaving, she turned around and told me before winking and rushing out.
(Now you can return his mobile to him.)
I shook my head at her, a small smile playing on my lips as I extended the mobile back to him. He was standing just two feet away from me. I glanced at him to see him already looking at me. "Mai tumhe to dekh lunga." He muttered, making me frown. Watching my confused expression, he motioned towards his mobile before taking it from me and going back to sit beside his brother.
(I Will watch you.)
Oh so he was talking about me taking Emaan's side? Well, even I would watch him! How could he just let me go with Emaan, or better yet, ask her to take me with her? This guy was so annoying. Stomping my foot, I headed upstairs with a pout. I could feel my cramps coming ahead. I need to sleep.
