At The Party

Laura stepped out of the house stretching her body_

"what a sunny day"

Helen who happens to her best friend followed shortly and sat on a swinging chair at the varenda_

"Yeah, it is indeed sunny. Laura what's up today? what can one do today?"

"Hey girl, remember my cousin Stella?"

"Yes I do. what about her?"

"She's having her birthday party tonight and she invited me. Do you mind coming?"

"Nope, I don't mind and moreover, I have nothing doing today"

Hours Later

They both prepared and went to the party; Stella was so happy seeing her niece, Laura as well so they spent most of the time together. Helena sat all alone drinking, nodding her head, enjoying the music and ambiance.

"Hello pretty damsel, can I join you?

"Sure"

"I am Kay Johnson. May I know your name please?"

"Nice meeting you Kay, I am Helen Martinez"

Kay was a young man from a wealthy family who runs his Father's empire.

They discussed for a while and then Laura walked up to Helen whispering_

"Please meet me outside"

"Mr. Kay, please excuse me"

"Sure"

Laura: girl I will be going home, I'm not feeling too well, you will meet me at home right?

Helen: No, let's go home together. By the way, what will I be doing here all alone?

Kay waited and waited for Helen but she never showed up. He didn't get the chance to ask for her contact or address. One day, Stella walked into his office during break and met him lost in his thoughts_

"Hey Kay, what's up? I've been Knocking for God knows how long but no response"

"Ella, I am thinking of a girl I met in your party"

"Hmm!! who can this girl be that's turning the head of my good play boy friend?"

"Come on Ella, I'm not kidding"

"Okay fine, what's her name? Maybe I know her"

"Her name is Helen, Helen Martinez"

"Wait a sec, don't tell me is Laura's friend and roommate?"

"Laura? Who's Laura?"

"She's my cousin"

"Was she the girl who called on Helen? is she slim, tall and fair, having a pixie haircut?"

"Yes, that's Laura"

"Please Ella, can you give me Helen's phone number or get it from Laura? I really need to talk with her"

"Hmm! K.J, hope it's not what I'm thinking. Anyways I will see what to do"

Three days later, Stella got Helen's number from Laura and gave it to Kay who beamed with joy. That same evening, he called Helen and reminded her of their meeting, and who he was since she had long forgotten about him. Surprised, Helen asked how he got her contact but the young man ignored the question and changed the topic.

From time to time, Kay messaged Helen to check up on her and know of how she spent her day. One day, he invited the young lady for dinner and they had a great time together. He began inviting her out more frequently and Helen always had excuses to turn down the invitation but when she ran out of excuses, she will honor his invitation. Slowly, he was falling for Helen, even though the lady in question had no feelings for him and was ignorant of what he felt. Laura noticed it and told Helen but she never believed.

Kay one day invited Helen_ since he knew she will turn down his invitation, he lied about it being urgent making the young lady wonder what could be the problem.

Helen was surprises seeing the guy who sounded worried on phone doing fine. Kay spent almost 45 minutes admiring Helen without saying a word. This made the lady uncomfortable so she decided to break the long silence_

"Kay, what's all this? you made me rush here worried with the way you sounded on phone; i came and lo, you were alright in fact, you look hundred percent healthy. You offered me a sit and I thought you will say something, but you are wasting my time staring at me or was that why you called me here?"

"Yes"

"What?"

"I mean, no! I want to tell you something, yes something that has been bothering me for so long"

"Okay, go on"

"Helen the little while I've discussed and spent with you are priceless and I have come to know you_ you are a great person and I couldn't help but fall in love with you. Helen, I love you"

"Kay I see you as a friend; I'm sorry, I have no feelings for you so I don't know what you will do with that feeling of yours. I advice you to get rid of it"

"Helen tell me how can I get rid of the love I have for you? I didn't want to get this far but I couldn't control my heart, it just did its own thing and loved sparked from no where"

"I have given you a definite reply. Good night!"

When she got home, she explained everything to Laura who burst out in laughter.

"Girl I am telling you something and you are laughing?"

"Of course, what do you want me to do? I told you that guy have feelings for you but you kept on denying it"

Helen didn't want to get into any relationship so she began avoiding Kay's calls and messages. He insisted but Helen kept on ignoring.

One evening, Laura and Helen sat in their room; Laura watched TV while Helen relaxed on the bed, glancing through a book. They heard a persistent knock at the door and Laura decides to go check.
