chapter 1oj

its was a bright cold day in April and the clocks were striking thirteen.

A scream came across my ears which I couldn't possibly ignore. my mother's sharp voice shouting my name to wake up.

I quickly sprint across my bed, my eyes streaming and my heart pounding in my chest with happiness as I remembered I'll be seeing Michael today after so long.

I hurried into the bathroom cleaned my slightly dirty teeth and sniffed my pits.

I had to take a bath before having breakfast or mom will have my head.

"ugh I smelt awful." I told my self. I stared at myself in front of the mirror to see what i had to change, but nothing quite come to my dump head.

I took a quick bath before leaving my room. I hurried to help Mon in the kitchen so I could make up for the mess I made yesterday but I found her and father already eating and smiling graciously at each other as if the were some sort of teenagers.

I immediately slowed down as I noticed they were both looking at me.

my dad was smiling graciously at me but Mon put on a staid face as I sat down.

"morning mom, morning dad." I cheerfully greeted. dad responded but mom didn't.

"How's our latest assistant doing?" my dad asked with his eyes glittering at mine as I could sense the tone of happiness in his voice.

"she doing quite well," I cheerfully responded. but mom was still staring.

after two years of graduating from college, this was the first time I got a job on my own, unaided. father was proud, so as mother but I know she'll never admit that to me. she felt my dad had spoilt me being the only child.

"Don't encourage her, she's going to be twenty four but she's still acting like a child." my mother's angry eyes glaring straight at mine.

"Don't think I forgot what you did yesterday." she bellowed but dad supported me.

"Give her a break, yesterday was an accident and besides she was standing up for what she thought was right, and am proud of her for that."

its a funny thing about parents, even when their children are the most disgusting little blister you could ever imaging, they still think they a wonderful piece of magic.

I still can't believe am starting work tomorrow, but am more excited to see Michael.

After breakfast, dad left for work and mom told me she would be going to the market. Adam was coming to visit from England so she had

to prepare something sumptuous for him. my mind wasn't on Adam at all. Adam's my best friend but Michael's more than just my boyfriend.

it was nearly noon and I promised Michael I'll meet him at our rendezvous at noon sharp.

mom had already left the house and that was a perfect avenue for me to leave without anyone seeing me except charity our house help. she can't say anything unless she's ask to, so she wouldn't be more of a problem.

I put a little bit of makeup. The last thing I want is to attract any attention to myself. I wore a short pink dress stopping at my knee and a stylish pink shoe to go with it that normally would make me feel uncomfortable as if I were in a stolen uniform or pretending to be a mature adult, but I've been saving this outfit for sometime now. I want to look splendid when I see Michael.

I know charity won't say anything to about me going out nevertheless I had to sneak out through the back door, I can't take any chances.

our rendezvous wasn't far from my home but I was so excited that I couldn't walk so I took a taxi. I kept thinking of Michael all the way not even noticing we've reached. I handed the taxi man his money and left without collecting the change.

I quickly ran inside. I sighted Michael from afar. I knew it was him because of his structure. I ran so fast and hugged him but he pushed me in a gentle manner. it was awkward but I didn't mind.

I didn't even notice a lady was with him until she called my name. she looked ravishing and seemly well favoured.

she extended her hands to shake mine but I didn't give her mine. it looked absurd but I want to know who she was first before anything.

"Erica, this is Julian." Michael said.

"she's my fiancé."

"Your what?"
