Chapter Four: The Traitors

"Let's explore the place a bit!" Cappuccino purred, standing up and trotting off to a random den. "Wh- are you sure that's a good idea??" Hawk stammered, immediately following his companion. Cappuccino climbed up a ledge of sorts before stopping at a cave like entrance. "... why didn't you just take the steps?" Hawk mewed, walking alongside rocks that made 'steps'. "Oh. Didn't see 'em." Cap shrugged before looking back at the entrance. Hawk huffed "It smells weird in there-" "Time to investigate!" The cream tom purred, bounding inside. "Wha- wait! You don't know if we can go inside yet!" Hawk tried to warn him but it was kind of too late. He sighed, trotting inside after his friend.

He examined the area, his gray audits twitching at the sounds of trickling water. Cappuccino's fluffy tail twitched as he found the source of the odd smells. There was a small ledge that held different.. leaves and flowers? ".... Can I eat these..?" Cap muttered to himself. The cream tom looked at Mr. Wubbles and purred "Okay Wubbles, quick question. Can I eat those?" He asked, flicking his tail to the shelf. There was a moment of silence as Hawk just.. kind of stood there awkwardly. "Wha- what do you mean no?" Cappuccino scoffed, quirking a brow. "HMph, you can't take risks!" Cap huffed, looking at the organized section. "Why'd you ask if you were going to do it anyways..?" The tabby tom muttered, glancing at him. "Well I- shush." Cappuccino snorted, flicking his tail at Hawk.

"Hey! Don't do that haha.." a voice mewed, causing the two to flinch and look over. There they saw a brown tabby striped tom, his heterochromatic eyes gleaming. Hawk blinked. "I- oh..hello." He mewed, flicking his tail. Well that's one handsome tom. "Hey there! What are you two doing in here..? Need anything?" He mewed, trotting over to the two. "I- uhm- your name..?" Hawk suggested, trying his best to seem cool or something but obviously he wasn't succeeding. "Oh! I'm Hazel'sight. It's nice to meet you...." "I'm H-hawk and this is Cappuccino-" Hawk smiled in a slightly nervous manner as he flicked his tail to Cap. "Yep, that's me! Oh and this is Mr. Wubbles." Cappuccino began to take the lead as far as in being good at introducing himself. It was a skill that was surprisingly complicated to Hawk. How exactly? Don't ask.

"S-so uh.. Hazel'sight.. uhm-" Hawk flicked his tail nervously as he tried to think of how exactly he should ask his question. Though Hazel'sight seemed to be waiting calmly, Hawk couldn't help but think that he was already being judged for being socially awkward. The tom anxiously began to lick his chest fur to hide his embarrassment "Would you- like to uhm.. uh.." Cappuccino smirked, knowing what Hawk wanted to ask but knew he was too shy to ask "Don't worry bud, I'll ask for ya!" Cap whispered, winking at his friend before looking at Hazel'sight "I- wait no—" Hawk muttered but it was already too late. "He's asking if you want to be his mate!" Cappuccino purred happily, taking Hazel'sight off guard. "AH-" Hawk squeaked, crouching down and covering his face with his paws. His pelt had begun to feel rather warm, especially his cheeks. "I- oh- uhm.. I'm sorry but- I'm a medicine cat." Hazel'sight replied awkwardly "I'm sorry." He mewed sweetly.

Hawk blinked. Did he.. just get rejected? "But- but-" he mewed, his ears lowering as he glanced up at the brown tabby. Hawk was often the sensitive type and despite trying his best not to show it, he was pretty hurt. Hazel'sight seemed to notice this "Aw I'm sorry.. medicine cats can't have mates or kits so we don't get distracted." He explained. "What? That's dumb!" Cappuccino scoffed, flicking his tail. "Well that's the Warrior Code.. but you'll both learn about that later." Hazel'sight purred, glancing at Hawk who still kind of looked heart broken. "Hey.. I need you both to do me a favor, if you don't mind." The medicine cat mewed, beginning to sit down in front of the two, curling his striped fluffy tail around himself. "Y-yeah! Of course." Hawk mewed, sitting up from his crouching position. "Can you both fetch me a bit of comfery and poppyseeds? I'm beginning to run a bit low." He asked, tilting his head to the side slightly. "Yeah! W-we'll get it for ya!" Hawk announced, standing up and quickly shuffling out of the den. "Oh! Be careful to watch your-" Hazel'sight was about to warn him about the ledge but it was sort of too late as Hawk had already begun to tumble down the slope. Cappuccino blinked, glancing out of the den and back at Hazel'sight with a blank expression before standing up "I'll uh.. be on my way-" he mewed in an awkward tone, trotting out and glancing over the edge "You alright?" He asked. Hawk stood up, shaking out his pelt and glancing at Cap "Yeah yeah totally.. perfectly fine. Not like I just fell or anything." The tabby snorted. ".... Are you being sarcastic? I think you're being sarcastic-" Cap questioned, trotting down the rocky steps to meet his companion who was already walking across the clearing. "Nope not at all.. no clue what you're talking about." He grumbled, causing Cap to smirk and lift an eyebrow "You sure?" He teased, deciding to take the lead and move up front, heading up the tunnel. "Yeah of course." Hawk scoffed. Despite his sarcasm, he had no problem with Cappuccino, despite his constant questions.

The two kittypets wandered throughout the snow, their ears twitching as they looked around. Hawk sighed heavily, obviously wanting attention. Cappuccino glanced at the tabby with a confused expression "Something up?" He asked, lifting an eyebrow. "Can't believe I got rejected by one of the hottest tom's I've met.." Hawk grumbled in a sour tone. "Well first off.. ouch... and second off, dude, he's a medicine cat-" Cappuccino reminded his friend "Do-do you really think that there is some rule that keeps someone from having a family??" Hawk countered, glancing at the cream colored tom "Weeeell... you should remember that things are different there. High chance they have rules like that." Cap shrugged, nudging the tom. The gray tabby tom only nodded, deciding Cap may as well be right. A few more minutes go by and Hawk decides to speak up. "Ya know.. I just now realized.. we never really did ask what comfrey and poppyseeds look like-" Hawk commented, looking at Cap. "Huh.. you're right. Well uh.." The fluffy Birman-Balinese mix paused in his tracks, looking around with a confused expression. Hawk stopped beside him, tilting his head "What should we do—" Cappuccino shushed him with his tail, causing Hawk to give Cap an irritated glare until his dark gray audits perked up, hearing some muttering nearby. "Wh—" he blinked at Cap who glanced back at Hawk, suddenly having a grin on his face "Hey- no. I know that look- don't—" Hawk was cut off. "Lets see what's up!" Cap chirped, quickly following the voices. Hawk let out a quiet groan of irritation, following the rambunctious male. "What are you doing?! What if we're—" "SHHHH.. we won't get caught! Calm down." Cap reassured him, placing his chocolate colored paw on Hawk's muzzle to keep him quiet. The two peaked through the bushes, seeing two felines speak with one another. Hawk flinched as he noticed blood splattered on their paws and muzzle. He only now realized that one of them was.. Blizzard'pounce?! The tom's gaze flickered towards the second feline, who was a rather big fluffy tom who he didn't recognize. As he squinted to attempt to see what's behind them, he could easily recognize Falcon'swoop who was.. on the ground?? Covered in blood?!

As he desperately put two and two together... he realized that.. they killed Falcon'swoop!
