Chapter 22: “She and Her Ghost(2)”

At school, Shen Xiaofan attends her class as usual. Except, things were not like how they used to be. Ever since that spring night, Wei Xiu had attached herself towards Shen Xiaofan. It's not like Wei Xiu had never done this before, but this time she almost never left. Whenever there is Shen Xiaofan, then there is her. The two almost never separate like before, Emily Chen who can see supernatural things almost vomited blood looking at them.

These two must have done something!

Although, Emily Chen could guess that something must have changed. Alas, she had no clue what has changed…

During lunch, Song Ehuang emphasized Shen Xiaofan again regarding the bracelet. Shen Xiaofan promised her that she will visit the old aunt again and ask for the same bracelet. Emily Chen looked at Song Ehuang and asked, "Why are you so eager to see ghosts?",

"Because I'm curious about this lady Wei.",

Song Ehuang took one of Shen Xiaofan's omelets and stuffed it into her mouth. Shen Xiaofan was taken aback by the fact that her omelet was being taken without her consent. She got pissed off and decided to take a bite of Song Ehuang's sandwich. In return, Song Ehuang was also surprised, but she laughed and offered her sandwich to Shen Xiaofan.

Looking at how these two best friends interacted, Emily Chen was jealous somehow. Yet, she doesn't know why would she feel jealous over these two. She shook her head helplessly and stuffed her mouth with rice.

Wei Xiu on the other hand had already gotten used to see how these two girls interacted, so she's no longer jealous. Besides, she and Shen Xiaofan had already bonded. Hence, there's no reason for her to get jealous over some skinship relationships between best friends.

After school, Song Ehuang joined Shen Xiaofan and Wei Xiu to look for the old grandma who sells the supernatural bracelet. Emily Chen was also curious about this old grandma, how can she sell such precious and magical things arbitrarily?

It is either she's a retired exorcist or perhaps she herself is a ghost. Emily Chen had some doubt in her heart, so she also came along with the group.

Shen Xiaofan led the group to a secluded house in the district. Then, they arrived at the old grandma's house. It was a shabby and small house, but the surrounding was clean.

"Let me check if there is someone.", Wei Xiu said, then she approached the house. However, the moment she got close to the house, suddenly a strong barrier prevented her from intruding into the house.

"Ouch, what kind of barrier is this?!", Wei Xiu protested as she touched her head who was knocked by the invisible barrier.

Emily Chen looked around and found a powerful talisman attached to the corner of the wall. This talisman isn't like any ordinary talisman, it is definitely a powerful one. One that you cannot obtain easily, unless you have visited a high priest who lived in a secluded mountain.

"Xiaofan… about the grandma you mentioned… are you sure she's just a mere fortune-teller?",

Shen Xiaofan who was consoling her lover tilted her head to Emily Chen, "To be honest, I don't know. Last time, she introduced to me as a fortune-teller. Back then, I don't really believe in such things so I didn't care much.",

Emily Chen pointed to the talisman on the wall and said, "A mere fortune-teller won't be able to own such powerful talisman like this. I'm afraid she's not an ordinary woman.",

"What's the difference between normal talisman?", Song Ehuang approached the talisman on the wall and stood next to Emily Chen, "Although the paper seemed to be rusty and old, but it's still in a good condition.",

"This talisman is to prevent ghosts from going in or out. The moment a ghost was trapped inside the talisman, the talisman will absorb the ghost's spiritual power until they become immobile. As for the ghost who tried its way to go inside, the barrier will send electrical power into their body and weaken the ghost a bit. When a ghost still forced their way in is the same as doing a slow and painful suicide to eternal death.", Emily explained, then she approached Wei Xiu and examined her seriously, "It's a good thing that barrier only gave you a light knock.",

Hearing Emily Chen's explanation, Shen Xiaofan become worried and asked softly, "Ah-Xiu, are you really okay?",

Hearing such a sweet and rare tone from Shen Xiaofan, Wei Xiu suddenly becomes bad and pretended to be hurt. She shook her head and pretend to be dizzy, then fall into Shen Xiaofan's embrace, "I seemed to feel dizzy all of sudden.",

"Eh, eh?! Are you really okay?!", Shen Xiaofan panicked, she was wondering if she should call an ambulance or something.

Looking at the two lovebirds, Emily Chen almost coughed out blood. This Wei Xiu is really a ghost, she just said that it was a light knock, how could it weaken a strong ghost like Wei Xiu?

"I don't know what's happening but judging by your reaction, they must be flirting again.", Song Ehuang said with a wry smile, then she peeked inside through a window. Inside the room, there were a few old wooden furnishing, then there was a black cat sleeping on top of a soft pillow. Suddenly, the black cat opened his eyes, the eyes were blood red.

Looking at such a rare and menacing cat, Song Ehuang's body shook in fear and she took a few steps back. Realizing that something is wrong, Emily Chen hurriedly took out a wooden stick from her bag. To ordinary people, this wooden stick looked normal, however, to people with special eyes like Emily Chen could tell that this stick is not a normal stick. This stick emitted a sharp aura, it is a treasure weapon from the Chen family. Although its shape was the shape of a wooden stick, however, it emitted a strong spiritual power and is as sharp as a sword. This weapon was given to Emily Chen when she passed the test to become a junior exorcist.

Emily Chen was honored and proud of such achievement, so she always carried it everywhere with her. But now, she took it out because there was something wrong inside the house.

The front door of the house was suddenly opened, and in there, the group saw a black cat with blood eyes greeting them. The cat smiled and spoke, "It's rare for a lonely woman like her to have such beautiful guests. May I ask who are these beautiful young ladies?",

The moment Emily Chen looked at the black cat, her body becomes cold and she shivered a little bit. It is not an ordinary cat nor it is a ghost… it's a demon.

"Everyone… be careful.", Emily Chen warned the rest of the group.

"T-the cat just talked!", Song Ehuang pointed her finger at the black cat. She didn't know if she was excited or scared facing such things.

Wei Xiu knew that this black cat was a demon, so she stood in front of Shen Xiaofan and blocked her, "Why is there a demon like you in a house with a deadly talisman? Why are you not affected by its effect?",

That's right, Emily Chen just explained that this talisman was so powerful that when a ghost approached it, they would be close to death, let alone be inside it.

"Oh, I almost didn't notice there is a lonely ghost here. As for your question, it won't affect me since I'm protected by the owner of this house.",

"Huh?",

Everyone present was confused, protected by the owner? Is it the old grandma?

Why would she keep a demon inside her house?

While the whole group was confused, suddenly an old voice echoed behind them, "What's up with all this commotion?",

The group turned their back and saw the old grandma holding a grocery bag. The old grandma noticed Shen Xiaofan right away, the grumpy face suddenly turned into a warm smile, "Oh, if it isn't the young miss from last year. Come, come… let's go inside.",

The old grandma went inside while inviting the group except for Wei Xiu. Wei Xiu was exasperated but she can't do anything, since the owner didn't let her go inside. She just secretly hopes that her dear Xiaofan will be fine.
