The Obnoxious Comrades

~PERCY POV~

"Really, Chiron?" Artemis exclaimed, looking at the list of volunteers for the exploration team. "Can't we have someone else? Anyone else would be better than these people." The people currently in question were the people I would have least wanted near me.

Annabeth and Zack. "I apologize Lady Artemis, but no other male in the camp has the guts to go on an adventure except for this boy, Zack. As for The females, I am not sure why no one is willing to volunteer for the task." Chiron sighed.

I sighed. We can't even move to the Roman camp for other volunteers because it's a waste of time. "Sigh. Fine Chiron we'll take them," Artemis said reluctantly. She then turned to me "Do you know why no one else wants to join us?"

"Of course. The females probably aren't joining because Annabeth is pretty intimidating and if she wants to join, I am sure she will intimidate them to be sure. As for the boys, rather than not having balls to go on the quest, they don't have the balls to go on a quest with you, because they know they might just lose their balls permanently. "Artemis chuckled, "Well, it could happen." I shook my head as I opened the door for her. "Oi Chiron, do tell them to be ready by breakfast tomorrow. We'll be leaving tomorrow, soon after breakfast." Chiron nodded as I left the room. Artemis walked back to her hunt to tell them what to do. She was planning to send her hunters on their own to try and look for monsters and kill them before they join the other side. We would, on the other hand, just collect information. I left back to my room and quickly picked up a backpack and put in the important stuff, like spare clothes and such. After that, I walked out to train with Olivia. She didn't treat me like some celebrity. To her, I was just her brother, someone she could lean on. She made me feel normal. It was similar to being in the hunt or being with Cally. Soon Cally joined us in training as well. Cally had been improving at a drastic speed. She could now somewhat predict the pre-planned moves of the enemy up to a few seconds ahead of time. Since she can only predict a pre-planned move, she is equally susceptible to attacks done impulsively or out of reflex. She could also control the blinding lights she created so that they somehow affected only the targeted person and not the allies. I am unsure how that's physically possible but where there is a God, there is a way. We practised till it was dusk. We then cleared off the area for everyone else who wanted to practice. We three were completely soaked in sweat, so I told the two girls to take a bath and get a new change of clothes while I take a dip in the lake. "Couldn't you just remove the sweat through your powers?" Cally questioned.

"Well yes, but would you stop bathing just because you don't get dirty?"

"Well, maybe-"

"No, you would. People take baths to feel relaxed as well." I said shaking my head. She smiled meekly and skipped towards the Artemis Cabin. Can't I come along you?" Olivia asked. "I am a Poseidon spawn as well."

"I would suggest not to. You wouldn't drown, but from what I heard from Chiron, you can't swim either. It is surprising for a Child of Poseidon to be unable to swim." I smirked at her.

"Teach me then." She grumbled. I just told her I would do that once we had few days free and ran off to the lake. I jumped in as soon as I arrived. I was swimming around when I heard a sweet voice. "Looks like I found a big fish."

I bring my eyes to the surface level to see Artemis removing her shoes and sitting on the edge of the creek. "Hello there, miss me? Want me to join in?" She winked. I felt my blood surge in my face. She giggled "Looks like young Perseus isn't ready yet." "I hate you" I mumbled with my face still underwater.

"Sure, sure." She continued teasing.

I grabbed her leg and pulled her into the water. "HOLY SHIT PERSEUS. I SWEAR TO HADES I'LL SMITE YOU WITH ALL MY GOD POWER RIGHT NOW."

I chuckled and pulled both of us out of the water. With a single snap, we and our clothes were dry. I held her hand and walked for dinner. We quickly ate our food and left for our respective cabins to sleep as we planned on leaving early and a sound sleep was necessary.

The next morning, I woke up to a scene similar to last time. The three girls all over me. "I thought I told you guys to not make this into a habit," I sighed.

"Not a very tempting deal, offer denied. Artemis teased. She got up and helped me relocate the girls so that I had enough area to move. I quickly changed and ran from my room to prevent a mob from appearing in front of the cabin and re-accusing me of being into underage girls. I went to the mess hall and quietly ate my breakfast. Artemis came in a few minutes later and followed the suit. Annabeth also came in right after and ate her breakfast.

Zack Skye was nowhere to be seen. When the breakfast time had 5 minutes remaining, Zack Skye rushed in and scarfed down the food pathetically. The three of us stood up ready to departure when Zack shouted "WAIT FOR ME! I HAVEN'T PACKED MY BAG YET!" I facepalmed while Artemis looked at him disgustingly.

"I give you 5 minutes, boy. Come back in 5 minutes or I will tear off one limb for every minute you are late." Zack ran for his life and was back at exactly 4minutes 47 seconds. Why do I know? Of course, because I was keeping track. I would have surely loved to see him lose a limb or two. All of the cabins gathered around the stables as we would be taking pegasi to New York and then move around in mortal vehicles. The Hunt and most of the campers gathered around to say good luck. Thalia went on and said "Good luck Lady Artemis." Then turns to me, "You better take care of her." Then Cally piped in "Yes Percy, you better take care of Mom." Everyone went silent and looked at Cally. Cally realized what she had said and turned bright red and ran off. The hunt laughed while Artemis and I flushed a bit. Annabeth broke the moment "ANYWAYS, We should go now."
