Miyun squinted as the sun reflected the golden garbs the new recruits had donned. The noise was too much and Miyun knew in his heart the last place he wanted to be was here. The new recruits barely spared the rest a glance and looked at him with apparent scrutiny , some even wanted to touch his mask but he flinched away just in time to avoid their prying hands. " Bare it just for a short while mm.." Mishin whispered. Miyun remained silent. Few minutes later, the crowd had settled in but before they could leave, Miyun heard footsteps approaching but it was difficult to tell where it was coming from, so he decided to leave it. He felt someone staring at him intently, he did not know why but it made him very uncomfortable. " Damn this stupid mask" he cursed silently.
Miyun and the rest of his team made it to the Royal scint quadrangle, unlike some of his members that kept smiling to win the best recruits, all Miyun could think of was to get this done with so he could leave.
" Welcome special people, it's an honor to have such promising young men and women here to train and learn from us, we all know that there are two factions of the special scint, but of course they have similar functions though they are not the same. You get to choose where you would want to be. The Medira is the first faction and The Thonlu is the second faction, now the only difference is you'll train under different masters, skills and lessons. This is only so, to enhance abilities and skills as you'd be competing with each other frequently. In the end you'll be under one divine master and graduate to the next level at the same time if and only if you work hard. Then that's all I have to say for now, your Majors will tell you more." The head Leader, Min Guan addressed.
Miyun sighed as his Master made his way to talk. Master Lifei was known to be quiet rigid but only Miyun could testify to how playful he was.
" Recruits, before you get to choose which faction you'll train under, you need your regular scint companion, they'll spar with the others from my brother's faction and by the end you'll choose the one you'd want as a companion. On this note, Medira and Tonlu regular scints please take your places and let's begin" he finished.
Miyun finally understood what he meant by winning people to his side. He heard about the achievement of his brother in his faction and how of a great leader he is, of course he would to make an impression to win a lot of special scint to his side. Automatically, everyone would want to be under the Medira faction but there's an alternative in solving that and in the end each is going to have the required number. Miyun could feel how the special scint recruits were giddy with excitement, most of them were his age, or slightly older, he couldn't fathom someone ordering him around and made a decision to deliberately fail. No one would want him then he thought, since he had a position he could also use that as an excuse. He smirked and whipped every trace of smile from his face what remained was his usual stoic cold expression.
The sparring had begun and it was fierce, no killing was allowed at the moment but eventually they would be a time where they would spar to death. It finally came down to Miyun and a member from the Midera faction. He could feel Master Lifei's stare on his neck, he was still sticking through with his plan. He started coolly blocking his opponents attack. when he finally decided to attack he made a deliberate wrong move that made his opponent target his side causing a light cut. He still did show any expression and got up, he resumed blocking the others attack seeming to think of what to do. He fought back a few times and made a move to strike his opponent only to get kicked and stepped on. A whistle blew. He got up and dust himself. He bowed to his opponent and exited. Mishin looked at him but saw through his facade, everyone knew of a great fighter Miyun was. Though he made it seem the other opponent was very good. Mishin would not be fooled, he knew it was deliberate. He cast a swift look to Master Lifei's direction, but his expression was his usual calm rigid stance. He sighed and decided to talk to Miyun later.
" Things seem pretty tough, so the new recruits will also showcase their ability, your strength would be matched with the regular members and then we would determine who your companion is, sorry for the new rule" Master Lifei announced
Miyun hid his agitation and walked to join his members. So the special scint also began, people were in awe as to the how they welded their element. Suddenly the place grew quiet, after a while there was heavy applause. " Minshi, the person who just showcased his element, is he a double welder? " Miyun asked curiously. " Double, yes, but he is also has the power of distraction, I'm sure now everyone will want him, those Midera people will do anything to have him on their side. I don't even want him here." Mishin scoffed.
" And why is that?" Muyin asked still trying to make out what was going on. " He is a.. pretty fellow you know " He answered. Miyun lightly chuckled.
Master Hei, the leader of the Midera faction finally spoke up, " Well done, that's was very impressive youngsters, you've all done great now, your results will be displayed, the special scint first, then your companion next, from there you'll be matched".
Everyone kept quiet their eyes glued to the big board, there were screams and shouts. But suddenly someone spoke up, " Honorable Master, since I clearly came first on the list, can I you please grant me an exception " a young man spoke up.
Everyone looked towards his direction. Members of both faction looked at him keenly. This young boy had potentials and the Midera faction were rest assured he would choose them. Apart from his amazing abilities, his family was very renowned in elements welding and wealth status, though the factions did not care about the latter. The members wanted him on their side to try and woo him. " Okay, young boy go ahead" Master Hei said.
" Thank you Master, then I would like to choose my companion then." The young boy said. "
He stood up and pointed to a direction. Everyone followed his hand and murmurs erupted in the quandrangle...
