The jagged wall held strong against the winds of time protecting the memory of the town once held inside, A great city ravaged by a war long since forgotten by the people who moved away from the broken city and now it is alone and empty. Approaching the city it's ragged wall juts out like a gaping maw ready to devour any who set foot inside this ghost town i feel kinda cheated if this is the city i saw from the top of that tree i said disappointed at the ruined cityscape before me. What happened here i said shivering looking at the destroyed buildings and streets, rubble lay everywhere glass littered the streets what ever happened here must have been terrible crouching down to pick up a piece of rubble even if i do stay here it not much of an improvement over the cave it's dank crevices cool to the touch perfect for things like me i thought throwing the chunk of brick i had. Walking further in making sure not to step on sharp objects or disturb any houses i come across it feel kind of wrong to walk around in here like how is this place not haunted? i pondered making my way to the town center following the signs on top of that why are certain buildings not touched i thought looking at a red brick building the one next to it had been demolished all the way down to it foundation it's as if they wanted to wipe this town off the map literally i said out loud hearing my voice echo down the empty streets i ventured further until i found the town center relatively untouched at least compared to some of the buildings prior there were shops lining the street next to me so i decided to take a look around an eerie vibe settled on me when i entered what appeared to be a blacksmiths shop pitch black charcoal lay scattered untouched for who knows how long wind blowing through made the tool rattle and clank lighting the fires i take a look around maybe there's something useful i can take pausing is it stealing if whoever I'm taking from is dead stopping to ponder on the thought i sit down i mean the thing im gonna take didn't leave their a rattle from the room next to me startled me out of my thoughts getting up i creep my way slowly to the door hoping it was the wind or maybe some stuff just fell i thought but it didn't stop me from thinking what it could be monsters of horror ghost demons or even worse clowns a shiver crawls down my spine i slowly open the door. The door creaks open slowly as my eyes adjust to the dark my eyes descend to the corner, a writhing mess of tentacle black as night tar dripping from it's suction cups falling to the floor creating a black pool at the base of the tentacles something sprouts from one of the tentacles an eye pops out and looks directly at me at first im frozen to the spot at the sight of the tentacles but my senses come back and i start to form a fireball in my hand letting it warm the surrounding air a mouth sprouts from the tentacles letting loose a piercing scream throwing the fireball it's to late i hear roaring from all around me echoing from the streets this city isn't abandoned it's infested by pitch black horrors i run to the front of the shop to my horror seeing the windows being swarmed by those things are they the ones who did this? did they destroy the city? confusion mixed with horror upon them finally busting down the door charging inside the small room i starting letting fireballs loose how do you like that i screamed burning them away but more flooded in i was trapped the dread realization fell upon me to late i retreated while the horde of monsters grew bigger running to the back room and closing the door i look for any chance to escape or a weapon to fight the horde off there was nothing but boxes lining the wall sinking to the floor i hear them rummaging through the halls looking for me it's moments like these where i knew how to turn back into a dragon the banging getting closer now i notice a web slowly moving a draft there's a draft so the must be a window somewhere a glimmer of hope ignited within me desperately shoving boxes i find it a small window i can just barely squeeze through it and i do making it to the darkened streets hear their moan as they search for me i slip away into the night. Making my way to the entrance it's surrounded by a sea of tentacled horror all screaming there's no way i would make it even if i ran all night so maybe there's a boss i can fight to make them all disappear i thought searching through the crowd i notice they don't go toward the red brick house a hole devoid of the abominations surrounded the house there has to be something they don't like there i thought clumsily making my way closer rooftop to rooftop often times avoid there gaze when they got to close finally making it there i slowly crawl my way in through a window trying my best to not make a sound. The house is untouched by time pictures of people and pets hang on the wall a door left ajar beckons me forth opening it a room with a single bed crammed in the corner nothing like the house devoid of color very few things stood ut but a chest at the foot of the bed rusted metal and crumbling wood looked odd in the house untouched by time. Rummaging through the chest i find an old crumbling journal i can still read some of the passages "It's better than being on the streets maybe i can settle down here so long as everything goes right" flipping the page a passage of the journal stands out "I don't know what to do they took her from me i no longer have a reason to go on maybe i can atone for my sins father Albright say no sin is to big to wash away" what happened to this person flipping through a pendant falls out clattering to the floor the page it rested on still legible "my sins are far to many for anyone to shoulder even father allbright won't help so instead i've made up my mind i'm going to bring her back no matter the cost and this will help, the amulet of sarcothia the undead im going to the cemetary tonight nd then i'll show them ill show them all" it ends there so he brought someone back? there has to be more than that i thought rummaging through the chest once more finding a small book "the black book of the dead" flipping through it i find a page labeled "Messed up rituals and how to fix them" yes we got something i thought fliping through the pages skimming until i found the minion of sarcothia a rough sketch of tentacles and abominations followed by flowing elegant text "Anima ignis is the only way to truly purge them" followed by sketches of golden fire " soulfire what kind of game logic world is this i thought trying out the spell flickers of golden flames dance on my finger tips that's a start but i don't have that much time if this world follows game logic then screaming it should make it work i thought opening the window sticking my hand out procceeding to yell "soulfire" golden flames erupting from my hand spread from monster to monster slowly burning their numbers1 slowly now all i have to do is wait i thought calming down, a giant rumbling put those thought out an earthquake i look out the window only to my horror do i see the flames died out and now they were converging on one another pooling there strength together to become one hulking mass of flesh and tentacles ready to rip me apart should i set foot outside and to my shock it started shuffling toward my shelter every rumbling step shaking the house right down to it foundation running to make my escape i leap out of the window rolling getting on my feet and running towards the gate the monster close behind thudding footsteps slowly died down as i looked behind me it was melting away as i got closer to the gate good one finally burst of speed and i was out of that cursed city never to look back.
