After the salmonella ordeal, we went back to work.
I like saying salmonella.
But anyway, we did all the nitty-gritty, then finally, we were able to bake. We'd already made the filling in between doing other things.
While waiting for the macarons to bake, I saw King slide away from the corner of my eye. He dipped his hand into some leftover red cookie batter and I rolled my eyes and suppressed a sigh, but then he did something unexpected.
He went over to the almond flower we used and grabbed a handful with the same hand that went into the batter. I had my eyebrows raised and was guessing what he was doing but before I could comprehend anything I jumped to the left. I looked behind me to see that handful of almond flour all over the counter I was standing by.
"King what the fu-" before I could finish my sentence, he was already throwing more flour and I ran to the left.
Then I made my way to the flour, where I finally got hit.
"Wow! Really?" I squealed before picking up two handfuls of flour and hitting King on his shirt and his arm.
I started laughing but then he got me in the face. I stopped laughing to check my condition but then I heard him laughing so I got more flour and hit him in the face. Then we were both laughing.
We only stopped our flour fight when there was no more flour to fight with. Oh, and the cookie part of the macarons were done.
I took the tray out of the giant double oven, with oven mitts on of course, and King got the filing.
"So what do you want for your birthday?" King asked as we made cookies in sync. I put the bottom piece down and he put the cream inside, then I put the top piece on top and he put them on a plate.
"From you? Nothing. That bracelet looked extremely expensive," I replied.
"Just in general," King said.
"Honestly nothing," Or at least I couldn't think about anything I wanted. They gave me the latest iPhone and Apple watch when I arrived, which reminds me I still need to set that up, but materialistic items have never excited me.
"But I would like to try sewing, Rarity and Marinette have taken a toll on me," I absentmindedly stated.
"Marinette? As in Marinette from Miraculous Ladybug?" He asked.
"Mhm. You've seen it?" I asked.
"Girls seem to be naturally attracted to it," King said sarcastically.
"I hope season 4 comes to Netflix soon. Disney Channel won't just stream every episode every day on end." I rolled my eyes.
"But anyway, sewing sounds like a fun pastime," Ya girl ready to be a housewife. Cooking, cleaning, sewing, baby-having (preferably 9). No, I'm just kidding, I only want 3 children. 9 would take too long and I don't want to endure that pain over and over again. Like, Rita, your pain tolerance must be all the way up there.
But I guess at some point it'd turn boring. I suppose that's why females spoke up in the first place.
"I didn't know you could be the Mother Terrias type," King chuckled.
"Mother Terrias cares for people, I wanna try sewing. What do those two have to do with each other?" I asked.
"Mother Terrias seems like the type to knit or sew in her free time," King answered.
"Fair enough," I mumbled.
We finished the macarons soon enough and King reached for one. Before he had time to comprehend the taste, I bite into one of my own.
They had the texture of Oreos, crunchy cookie with the inside of soft creme, but they tasted like vanilla cupcakes with vanilla icing.
"Not bad, I didn't ruin one of my favorite desserts," I smiled to myself.
"One of your favorite desserts? Would you give me a minute?" King asked and I nodded.
Of course, with my never-ending nosy-ness towards King, I pretended not to care as I heard him mumble into his phone, but I made out some words.
"Mav… french cookies... tomorrow..." Unfortunately, I couldn't hear more of this 'important' call.
Seems like he was just ordering macarons, so why didn't he let me listen to it without straining my neck?
"Sorry 'bout that," King apologized after he hung up.
"It's cool," I answered with a slight frown. Hey! You should've asked me what flavor I liked! Hopefully, he just got basic flavors, those are good.
"What's wrong?" He asked, probably picking up on my slightly damped mood.
"Oh nothing, my legs are kinda tired from standing so much. I'm going to watch TV in the living room, you coming?" I asked.
"Oh," he hissed, "sorry, I gotta catch my economics teacher, but I'll catch up with you later," King looked at the time.
"Ok, see you later," I said indifferently, but inside my sus levels were at an all-time high.
I'd never heard about any economics teacher, where did she come from? I mean, sure, King and I don't spend all our time together, but he never ditched me for his 'economics lessons'.
He did ditch me once… with the pathetic excuse of having to go somewhere important. Really he was cheating on me with Kelly.
Well, I mean, he wasn't really cheating on me, since we weren't dating, but I mean, like, you know?
If anything, he was cheating on Kelly with me, but that's beside the point. The only other time he ditched me without telling me he had something to do first was when he was sneaking out to meet with other girls.
I looked at the date on my phone, it was early in the month, so he wasn't meeting Kelly, but that didn't mean he wasn't out cheating.
He was super attentive and looked at me with a silly, adorable, heartwarming smile while talking about some of those girls yesterday.
He kept in touch with Kelly, who's to say he still didn't talk to some of the other girls.
...The hell, King?
