Chapter 19

The backup power kicks on with an oddly loud thud. The backup lights kick on, they are red like the ones on a submarine. The red softens the severity of the light change and allows for more comfortable movement in the darkness.

I slip on some shorts and an undershirt along with my shoes. My tactical light clips perfectly into place as it should. As I approach the door, I tell Holly, "Don't leave this room, once I shut this door don't open it unless I know four times, two sets of two."

She nods her head and gets her gun out from the dresser.

A very loud alarm sounds, louder than the encroachment alarm from earlier. A lot louder than before. I keep my body tight to the wall as I enter the hallway and listen for any noises that may lead me to clues.

I'm not hugging the inside of the corner leading to the main room. I don't know what the alarm means or where it was activated at but I am assuming it is coming from the agents or beyond into the death zone.

The button on my tactical light pops as I depress it. I slowly trace the room with its blinding beam, back and forth, covering every inch of it. The room is empty, no Mills, no Boss. Nothing.

I hear something coming from the agents' areas, sounds like whimpers or whispers. Now, I abandon my cover and sprint towards the glass rooms. Full speed I hit the end of the room and go down on both knees sending me into a controlled slid directly into the agents' hallway.

Instinctively, I check my back again, passing the light through the main hall. Then turning very slowly, I begin to pass the light from room to room. Gacy is in his cot, naked as fuck still, playing with Dumbass's dead dick. I turn to the first room on the right and Rader is in there, head down but eyes up, looking extra evil. Then onto Dahmer's room, I scan the room with my light and I was having trouble finding him. Then suddenly he drops from the ceiling in his room and scares the shit out of me. Of course all three thought that shit was funny.

I continue into the corridor connecting the agents and the death room. I peer through the glass door, no flame, no spears. Wait, no spears? I thought those things went on constantly once activated? Did the power knock that out too? Was that not on the supplemental emergency power list?

The hologram wall! That has to be up still! I run through the death room and stop right before I would be passing through the holographic wall. It's just a blank spot where the drywall is missing.

The main room contains no lights at all, white or red. I use my weapon with its light to navigate the perimeter of the room and eventually I clear the room of any targets. What the fuck? No one responded but me, all the agents are contained and nothing has been breached. What's all the fuss about?

I enter the death room again and rush through the agents' area, only stopping once to try to access Dahmer's door, just to make sure the locks are still tight and secure. Good to go there.

I'm sweating profusely now, the air conditioning is off and we are like eight million feet under the ground, makes you wonder how the oxygen gets in here and how long we would have down here with no oxygen sources.

Back in the main office area, I perform a quick scan again and again no sight of Mills or The Boss. Walking quickly through the center of the room, I keep my eyes focused on the right hallway. The only spot I hadn't checked yet. John was in one of these rooms and Louis too probably.

I stop at the George W. Bush Sr. picture and peer in. John appears to have used the gun; it only took him two days to get to it. Good for him, fucker.

I continue down the long corridor, I notice light coming from the seam of an open door, around Ronald Reagan's picture. I click my tactical light off and slowly approach the open door. As I approach the door, I can hear murmurs and whining. Someone is in there.

The window has been covered up, preventing any pre- planning on my part. At this time, I am assuming that the entire team has been held captive by Louis or some other person they had locked up in these rooms. How do I approach this situation?

I'm going to need a flash bang. I run back to the bedroom and knock two sets of two and Holly opens the door.

"Baby, grab two flash bangs and any sort of assault rifle, we have a problem. Get up and get me a view into Reagan's room." I was very calm and collected because I knew this could be potential future altering.

Holly rushed out of bed and to her desk. She flipped a switch and the wall behind her spun around to show a wide range of weapons and explosives, "Take your pick Lieutenant."

I grab two of the largest flash bangs I'd ever seen and browse through the assault rifle choices. I grab a standard issue AR-15 with a red dot sight and extended magazine. I holster my pistol and clip the flash bangs to my belt behind my back. Now I'm securing a flak jacket to my chest with a trauma plate. We now hear screams coming from the cracked door.

"Come on Court, give me a status update!" I bark.

"Gregg, two of our three cameras have been disabled, the remaining camera has multiple blind spots but I can see Mills and The Boss." She points to the screen.

"Ok, so when I enter, where will I be? Left side or right side?"

"You'll come in here and the projected target or targets are here." She points to the left of Mills as my entry point and the target area is at the bottle of the screen out of view.

"Who was in the room? Who could have gotten access to that room without setting off an alarm?" As secure as this place is, there is no way anyone got in here without raising at least one eyebrow.

"Gregg, the Reagan room is for potential Agents only. We acquired a new addition to our fleet shortly before you came in here. Norman Ellsworth, thirty-two confirmed murders, every murder EXACTLY the same, even down to the depth of the wounds. Very unique." Holly explains this to me as I'm trying to work up a plan of attack, but now do I have to rescue them while keeping him alive?

Another scream cuts out of the open door. He must be torturing Mills' team. There are at least three people out of sight because the Councilor is in plain sight now.

"What do you think about me taking one of the current agents with me? Can I do that? Do you have the access code for any of them?" I was asking but I wasn't really asking. I needed one of them. I couldn't risk taking Gacy because he might get his dick stuck in something. I couldn't take Rader with me because I wasn't sure what he capable of. I've gotta get Dahmer out.

"Give me your badge and the code to get Dahmer out." It was an order, a firm order.

"Gregg…we…" She paused and stumbled.

"Enough! Give it to me now!" Just then, another scream comes out of the room. "Are Mills and The Boss ok?"

"I still see them; the Councilor has escaped my view." She hands me her badge and a sticky pad with the numbers 20314565108538 on it. Dahmer's code. I take off towards Dahmer's cell, sliding around the corner and sweating my ass off, I reach him safely.

A quick swipe of the badge and I slowly enter in the code, 2-0-3-1-4-5-6-5-12-0-8-5-3-8. The door cracked open and I called upon Dahmer, "Jeff, Jeff! I need your help right now friend. The Boss is in trouble, Mills is in trouble." Dahmer jumps up and puts his glasses on.

"Here's the situation, The Boss, Mills, the Councilor and Mills team are all in this room. Recently these guys acquired a high profile target, sentenced to execution for thirty-two murders. I need you to come with me so I can rescue the team and eliminate the target." I feel my instructions were pretty clear.

"What about my reward for talking to you earlier? You promised me a reward. I'm feeling rather used at this moment but I'm still listening, only because I like you." A reasonable question but horrible timing.

"Jeff, bad time bud, walk with me." We swiftly walk towards the Reagan room, "I am going to find to another Konkon, just help me right now. I'll get you another Konkon, I swear Jeff. Please help me save my friends. I'm going to flash bang the room and I want you to go in first, get to this "agent" quickly and rip his fucking throat out. If you have trouble, I'll be right behind you and I'll take his ass out. DO NOT touch anyone else. Clear?"

"This is going to be great!" He shouted out of excitement. Jeff was also grabbing his crotch.

"You gotta pee don't you?" I said with a straight face.

He smiled and said, "I can hold it. It's like playing hide and go seek, I'm excited."

"You definitely hung around too many little kids." I chuckled but I didn't know why.

We proceed tactically towards the Reagan room. I lead the way and Jeff sticks oddly close to my ass, it was uncomfortable but I had no choice but to trust this man. I lead Jeff to the inner wall directly beside the open door of the Reagan room.

I did my best to get a visual but the crack was not enough for me. I turned to Jeff and ran him through the plan. I pulled a flash bang from behind my back and checked my weapon. I held my free hand up, three, two, one. I crack the door enough for a slightly accurate flash bang to fit through, pop the activator and slide it in on the floor.

POPSSSZZZZ. Jeff rushes in and I follow directly behind him. I go straight to Mills and The Boss, cut their leg shackles and send them out immediately. Jeffrey is all over this "badass" killer and I'm very confident he will make short work of him.

The Councilor was mauled pretty badly, his face was pretty much hanging by its chin skin, he looked like a bloody skeleton. Mills three men, they didn't look as good as the Councilor. I saw an assortment of arms, legs, innards, a complete brain with the spine still connected. The floor, which used to be white, was fully red, dark red, deep down blood red. The walls have been splattered with brain matter, blood and feces. It was fucking slipping and sliding down from the ceiling to the floor. I got all the people out that were alive.

Dahmer had been caught by a cheap shot and was now fully mounted by the new guy. The new recruit leaned down in an attempt to ravish his jugular. I aimed my rifle steadily and shouted out, "Freeze, I will end you right now if you lean any further! We don't need you that bad!"

This guy continued in towards Dahmer, I looked down the red dot sight and fired off a three shot burst directly into his head, passing through his skull, chucks of his brain exiting out the back, spreading more brain matter and blood across the room. I grabbed Jeff by the shoulder and pulled him out very slowly as I kept an eye on the downed killer.

Dahmer was in an utter state of shock. I dragged him out, all the way through the door. He wept uncontrollably, as if he had just lost something very special to him. I wasn't sure what to do; I grabbed him by the hand and helped him to his feet. He embraced me, like a long lost brother. I hugged him back whispering, "It's ok Jeff. It's ok buddy. You did perfect."

"Gregg, I've never killed to save before. I kill for the thrill for a reason; I kill to build on my soul using their souls. I'm just going to go back to my room and rest if that's ok with you." Remorse was very prevalent in Dahmer's voice as he slowly shuffled away towards his room.

Mills walks up on me, "Excellent work Gregg, great thinking, using a serial killer on another serial killer. Good job. We have fucking tranq darts for this type of shit. You put all of us at risk when you sent him in. My men were just murdered, butchered by a psychopath and what do we have to fucking show for it now? What can you say that will make it all better? You piece of shit!"

I lunge at Mills, grab him by the loops of his flak jacket and slam him to the ground, "I was supposed to watch all of you slowly get brutally murdered by that freak? Or are you going to tell me you had it all under control while your team is lying on the floor, already bled out? Fuck you, you want a redo, next time I'll make sure you catch one of those rounds to the head too."

The Boss interjects, "Listen gentlemen, it is what it is. Yes that was the most skilled agent we almost had. He killed the power with his extraordinary knowledge of building architecture and general conduit routing. He's dead now, move on. Gregg, thank you for getting me out of that room. Good job." He puts out his hand and I embrace it.

"I made a judgment call; I can't do this shit without a team. I need you and Mills to make the executive decisions and Holly to help me get the lay of the land around here." I explained.

We all go our separate ways. I head towards Holly and sit in her extra chair. She tells me to watch this and points at the Reagan room's monitor. The room is air tight; it has its own oxygen system and exhaust. She flips a switch and depresses a button labeled flush. The room is flooded quickly with hundreds of gallons of water, hydrochloric acid and dawn dish soap.

In a matter of fifteen minutes, the room is drained and clear. The only thing left in there is the metal table. The bodies have been eaten and swallowed by the hydrochloric and the walls and floor have been cleared of any and all blood, brain matter, hair, DNA, all of it.

Each floor in each room has a built in drainage system which can and will be activated in the event of a catastrophic emergency such as today. Jesus, what a day it was.
