Chapter 39

Make it look like an accident? Make it look like an accident! I've got an idea, it's a stretch but it's an idea. Maybe this plan will work but I've got to sell it to my team and see if they think it will fly far enough over everyone's head that even the President of the United States will buy it.

I placed Jeffrey's head down on the floor as gently as I could and called everyone to the middle of the room, "I've got an idea and I think it just might work."

Everyone came in close, even Danny and I began to explain the plan, "Right before Jeffrey passed, he whispered something into my ear. All he said was make it look like an accident. I didn't have a clue what the hell he was talking about but now I get it. He wants us to try to keep this place alive, keep the President on our side."

Mills chimes in, "How the hell are we going to do that Gregg? We just killed six secret service men and fed his Secretary of Defense to B.T.K."

I explained, "We have a couple options. I figure if we load the dead men into the two secret service vehicles, take the vehicles out far away from here, we can take assault rifles and pistols and shoot the shit out of them and have someone find them or we can create a very large and fiery car crash out in the middle of no-where."

Holly looks very impressed, "We probably need to execute the first option considering all the bullet holes in these boys. We can leave Wilhelm with B.T.K. until he finishes her off and insert her in the vehicle too or just leave her out and have everyone searching for her. Either way, they never made it here. I can clear all the video from the system and any records that could pop up about any type of visit."

"Are we all in agreement here?" I raised my hand slowly to try to coerce the rest; it worked, except on Danny. Danny was a loss end that needed to be dealt with. I have lived my entire life knowing my brother was dead and I was perfectly fine with that thought.

Boom! I raised my service weapon to his head without him realizing it and fired off one shot. He went from steadily standing on two feet to an instant collapse spread across the floor. His body fell like a rag doll, no electronic impulses to any muscles or anything of the sort. He was dead before he realized he had been shot.

The rest of the team, Holly and Mills, looked at me for a brief second and then turned their heads back to the focus of all our attention. My bullet actually passed completely through his right temple and came out of the top left side of his head. There was literally a brain and blood ink blot test on the wall nearest his body.

I looked at my team, "What did you think I was going to do? He came down here to kill us."

Holly and Mills both smiled and nodded, I guess I just caught them off guard. No time for explanations or worries, we had a solid plan to execute and we had to execute it now.

Each secret service man's body was dragged into the elevator and taken to the barn area. Mills and I took two up at a time and left on the ground until we finished with the all six. We gathered all of their weapons and anything that may have come off during the heat of battle and reassembled the men as closely as we could. Each car had three service men placed in it, leaving the driver's seat open so we could drive thirty or so miles away, blast the cars with assault rifles and leave them on the side of the road.

I called down to Holly and asked her to bring an SUV up to the top, loaded with three assault rifles, extra ammo and a few pistols too. Once she loaded everything up, I jumped in the first secret service truck, Mills in the second and Holly trailing as we drove on the highway to reach a reasonable destination just far away enough.

We rolled up on a wide open area, wide open except for a tree. This is where we will stage it.

I call out on the radios, "This is the spot right here. Holly pulled up next to the tree and faced the road. Mills, you and I will go up a little bit and turn around. Leave your truck in neutral and leave the engine running. We'll jump out and Holly can pull up about four feet from the street. Then we can have some target practice."

When I jumped out of my truck it was barely rolling forward, as was Mills'. We hustled over to Holly's SUV and took the assault rifles out and took position on the rolling vehicles. We emptied five thirty round clips into each vehicle, covering every bit of them with bullet holes. As we fired the vehicles continued to roll and slowly took themselves off the road and sitting in plain sight.

Mission accomplished. Some unlucky motorist would spot the vehicles and all the spent casings and call the police. That's when the government will get involved and begin their search for the missing Secretary. K.U.N.T. division would be completely clear from any involvement because we are loyal and country loving citizens servicing a sincere and great purpose. Ok, even that made me laugh.

We piled into Holly's SUV and took our time getting back to the building, it's been quite a while since we've all been out of the office at one time and we deserved to witness a little sunlight after the day we had.

We cruised down the highway with our hands out the windows and the breeze blowing on our faces, a sense of freedom came over me. Like I wasn't trapped in this job, I didn't have to go back down there. But I came to my senses and realized that I was going to head back down to that secret underground lair and do my damnedest to lead this team through other missions.

During the drive back I had another great idea, I was going to contact the President and let him know we had lost an agent and ask him what he would like me to do. Then I would call my old Sergeant, John, and see if he would like to come down here and lead us, lead me, like the old days. I also really wanted to take the entire team and get us away from all this underground non-sense, maybe buy a large house with a large basement.
