Invitation to Tournament

The moment Shams gave Feilong all the parchment and letters meant for their master.

A curiosity kept ringing on Shams' mind.

While walking back his way to the library where he intended to go next, he pondered on something which made him think of a lot of things.

Tournament …

Tournament …

Tournament …

< Sss … What is it about the tournament that kept your mind unsteady? I can't even rest properly! Your thoughts are too loud to even ignore. Sss …>

'I am sorry, Viper! It is just that … If I am not wrong, the tournament can be the best venue for me to really see if I have gone strong. To become the most powerful, I need to know if I can achieve to be one. Beating everyone would mean that I am the most powerful out there.'

< Sss … Do not get ahead of yourself yet! You can't even beat Feilong in your sparring and you telling me you will beat everyone. I am already second-guessing if I chose the right choice to entrust you not only my power but my soul as well. Sss …>

'It is not my fault if Feilong has some cheat. He is closer to Master Wushu so basically our master has some bias special training with Feilong compared to me. One step in becoming closer to my goal of becoming the most powerful is to fight strong opponents. I can't wait to learn from other cultivators and beat them.'

An excitement formed within Shams.

< Sss … By the way, since you mentioned about the closeness of Master Wushu and Feilong. I also think that Master Wushu is holding back in training and teaching you. I think he is clipping your wings. The way I see it, they are trying to control your flight to greatness. I guess they fear your power. Sss …>

There was silence from Shams.

He did not answer Viper.

'If ever that is true. There will be no point in staying here.' A serious tone from Shams.

< Sss … You will leave them? They have become your family already. They cherish and love you, genuinely. You will dare leave them? Sss …>

'I care for them as well but there will be no point in staying if they will become a blockade to my road to greatness. That is why I have started detaching myself from Master Wushu and the others so that when the time comes to leave … It will be easier for me to leave.'

For Shams, when he lost his parents, devastating pain and misery were felt.

One of the weaknesses he had was his family. Thus, he believed that if he does not detach himself and learn how to be independent. He will remain weak and dependent on others help.

Shams started to note down lessons for himself.

[Lesson #1]: Do not let emotions rule over and become a hindrance in decision-making. Always choose what is best for yourself.

'When my parents died … I thought I will have no more strength to even wake up for another day. I cannot let myself go through that hell.'

Viper understood and could relate much to what Shams went through.

There was nothing else that the mythical beast could add to it since even Viper would not want to go through the same feeling of pain and misery.

"Hey, Little Ryoku! Wait up!" Billy called for Shams.

Shams turned around to look for the one who called him little, "Who are you calling little?"

Billy became taller and also a bit bulky in muscles due to his rigid training with Ganki as well.

"Of course, I was calling you! Because you are still little down there too." Billy teasingly reached for Shams private jewels.

-Hahahahaha!- Loud laugh could be heard from Billy.

Good thing that Shams was quick enough to block Billy's teasing attempt.

"You are on your way to library too, aren't you?" Billy asked Shams.

Even Shams does not want to answer it but he nodded as a response.

"Okay then, let's go together. Shortie!" Billy patted Shams on the head as if he was someone inferior to Billy.

"You know I can beat you up right!" A serious look on Shams' face who is clearly not joking around with Billy.

"Awww … Do not be sensitive! Let's go, Shortie!" Billy went ahead grabbing Shams' hand.

This kind of treatment what makes Shams a bit annoyed.

Being treated as if he is still a baby.

But he could not blame the others because he is the youngest among the disciples of Master Wushu.

So for them, Shams was still the baby of the school even grew in height as well.

[In Library]

Maya, Hawks and the others were already in the library.

Only Billy and Shams were the ones late for a session in library.

"How is your task with Feilong? What took you so long to leave the main office?" Maya asked Shams who just entered the library along with Billy.

"Yeah, I already finished my task but there was a disagreement regarding the invitation to a tournament." At the mention of the invitation to a tournament.

All the attention of the disciples at that point were on Shams.

Including, Hawks …

"The invitation to the annual tournament! You saw it?" Hawks stopped what he was doing and asked their youngest fellow disciple.

Their youngest fellow disciple just smiled and wondered what the big deal was, "Yes, I saw it … That is why I was planning to ask you guys. Why Feilong and Master Wushu arguing with our entry? Shouldn't we attend? Because if you guys ask me … I am excited about the tournament."

Each disciple in the library started to whisper to each other while there was a certain silence from Hawks and Maya.

"What's wrong? Aren't we going to join?" Shams asked Billy.

Before going to his seat, Billy explained to Shams that for 5 years even before Shams was admitted to the school. Master Wushu prohibited his disciples to attend.

"Too bad … Many wanted to see the comeback of the disciples of Master Wushu. The school won the last tournament we were in." Rankuza uttered while flipping the pages of the book he was reading.

"Wait … What? You mean we won the last tournament that the school attended." a confused tone of Shams.

"Umm … Not only the last tournament we joined. The school reigned as the unbeatable in the tournament. Raking all top 3 awards … In all divisions!

{Apprentice-Ranked},

{Senior-Ranked},

And {Junior-Ranked}.

We were champions in all divisions and the top 3 participants in all divisions." Further explained by Rankuza.

"Based on your explanation. Basically, we dominated the annual tournament, every year?" a surprised reaction from Shams.

Rankuza replied Shams casually, "Yes … We were THE BEST! But now, we no longer participate."

'Oh shit! In other words, I am training in the top school … The best of the best!'

Sudden internal realization of Shams.
