The bus

"Bernard, we have to leave for school."Felix seemed testy and not willing to deal with a groggy brother this morning.

Honestly I love him, but he can be a pain in the ass from time to time.

Felix is an early bird, he's always on my ass about time. We're ten minutes late for this or an hour late for that. It's not that I'm not punctual, I just don't think it's fair that I should be on time with everything considering how many jobs I've worked and what I've sacrificed for the little bugger.(right now I'm working 3 different jobs at three different shops, an auto repair shop, a juice shop at town center, and I'm a bartender at the bar around the corner of our apartment) He's a good cook though, he learned from some tv show he used to watch when he was 10 and he's good with household chores and all. Once when I'd gotten home from Lennys the bar I worked at he'd been setting up some fancy Italian meal. He even called me up to sneak some box wine from the bar, not that I'd ever let him drink, he said he liked the smell of wine during a nice meal. I know he'll be a smart drinker some day. I came home to the most mouth watering meal I'd ever seen, he'd made some potato pasta called gnocchi with a green pesto sauce, along with an arugula salad. I'd almost felt pretentious eating all the food. He has a small piggy bank he saves money in to buy all the ingredients. He thinks I don't know this but he runs errands for our neighbor down stairs Kassandra, and he baby sits our other neighbor that lives beside us, Liney's daughter, who's around five now. The kid has a heart of gold, he always does what he can to make my world a little better.

He's precocious and quite the perfectionist, that's for sure. I'll leave the kitchen, having stacked an exquisitely executed Dorito tower(I spent around five hours on that thing), half eaten plate of hot pockets and half a pack of bud light. As My undiscerning drunken self hobled back into my room, Felix was slaving his ass in the kitchen cleaning. The next day I wake up around 9 in the morning and Felix had cleaned the cheesy dust of the kitchen tiles, sadly thrown out the bud light as he is not a big fan of alcohol( apparently it fucks with your liver), washed the dishes and on top of that he'd made me a bowl of oats for breakfast. I have no clue who taught him to be such a clean freak, nonetheless the kid is a blessing. Always keeping me in check, I got a hell of alot of luck getting stuck with a kid like him.

After drowsily rolling around restlessly in a mess of pillows and blankets, I finally decided to get up.

Felix had already picked out my clothes(he always knows what I like to wear so I trust his fashion choices), he really was a little angel.

He neatly folded a red polo, khaki slacks, and my nicer pair classic of adidas.

I swiftly put on the well executed outfit Felix had chosen for me. Simple, not too formal, but not too shabby either. Just something I'd wear to school. I slide on some deodorant and I'm good to go. I'd take shower but I have paid the water bill yet, luckily I'm getting my final check from the juice shop this week so that should pay it off.

To be honest I wasn't planning on going to school just because I thought I wouldn't be able to afford cutting off a job, but Felix begged me too. He said that having a senior as a brother would be sick and he promised he'd get an after school job to help pay for the bills. Apparently he's going to be working at the shoe shop in the town center I used to work at. It pays pretty well and he'll be turning fifteen next week so he'll be able to work there according to store policies. Then again he could always lie not that he needs to, that's just what I used to do.

I got out of the bathroom to seeing a bright eyed bushy tailed Felix dangling my backpack in front of me.

"Come on we got to go now, the bus won't be waiting for us, it gets here at ten!" I grabbed my bag and whipped it around my shoulder. Grabbing the house key Felix opened and locked the door and we were off. I hadn't been in school for three months which is practically a life time to me so I wasn't sure what to expect.
