Avery
It's been 30 minutes and Zach and I are almost done with our Calvin Cycle.
As we continued to work quietly like the rest, I took a glance at our professor who was busy with his laptop.
I looked back at what Zachary and I were doing and after three minutes we were already done while almost half of the class were still not done with the activity and some seemed to have a problem with their work.
I looked at the person next to me when he suddenly took out his phone and focused back on it again.
"Do you mind if I ask you a question?" I confidently asked and he looked at me before nodding.
"You always use your cellphone, may I ask why?" I curiously look at him.
"Ahm, I'm reading a story!" He smiled in response, making me frown in return.
"Really?" Is he joking? He's reading? Really? I tried to convince myself that he was but I still could not believe what he just said.
"Yeah, here!" I looked at the screen of his cellphone as he handed it to me.
I frowned even more when I saw the title of the stories he was reading from a website.
"Have you read his books?" I can't believe I'm asking him about this, I thought as he nodded with a smile.
"Actually, Mitch Albom is my crush," He added.
Then I began to laugh, loud enough for only the two of us could hear since our classmates were still busy discussing their work.
"Your crush?" Then I laughed again, "Really?" I paused and start laughing again.
"What's funny?" The expression on his face changed, he seemed curious as he looked at me.
"You just said you have a crush on Mitch Albom," I composed myself and looked at him but I still smile every time I remember what he just said.
"And what's wrong with that?" He asked. Really? He doesn't have any idea about Mitch Albom, huh?
"Do you even know Mitch Albom?" I adjusted my seat and faced him as if I was investigating him.
"I don't know her personally but I love her books and she's a really good writer,"
"Exactly, Zachary Rivera! You consider him as a 'she', you're unbelievable. Mitch Albom is not a girl, you crazy!" I told him as I tried to control myself from bursting out laughing again.
"Don't make fun of me!" He didn't believe me and focused his eyes on his cellphone again to read.
I just sighed at what he said and did not speak again because it seemed there was a commotion around. It looks like our classmates are done.
A few moments later, the professor called the assigned pairs one by one to present their Cycle.
Caleb presented first and Zachary and I followed.
After our presentation we sat down.
"Thanks by the way!" I turned to the person next to me as he spoke while reading on his phone.
"Thanks for what?" I frowned at him.
"Because I'm sure I'll pass this subject this semester with your help, ofcourse," He laughed as I glared at him.
Tsssk...
"Good for you!" I sarcastically replied to him.
He shook his head and closed his cellphone before frowning at me and I just gazed at him intently which made him smile in a silly way.
He is acting weird now and it's uncomfortable for me.
"You know, you're really different from Azai," He commented as he stared at me.
Is he staring at me so weird just to think that I and Azai we’re different?
"Of course, do I look like I have a sword?" He laughed out loud at what I said.
"Sshhhhh," I scolded him "Don't be noisy," I added.
He covered his mouth as if it would help him do a better job than when he wasn't covering his mouth. I sighed.
"Now I want to take back what I said earlier," He said while still trying to contain his laughter.
"Ave!" I turned to the other side of the chair I was sitting on when Kalila shouted softly.
It prompted me to go to them and sit in the vacant seat next to him after saying my goodbye to Zachary and for a moment it looked like he would open his phone to read again.
"Looks like you and Zach are getting along already," Kalila commented as I sat down next to her.
"I think so," I replied shortly, "And did you know that he thought Mitch Albom was a girl?" I rolled my eyes when I remembered what he said earlier that he had a crush on Mr. Mitch Albom.
"Are you serious?" Kalila asked with a laugh and I just nodded.
"That's insane!"
"I know right,"
"What are you guys talking about?" I looked behind me as Vivian suddenly appeared into view.
"Oh girl, sorry to say this, but your dearest cousin thought that Mitch Albom was a girl," Kalila said.
"Oh! So you found out already?" My eyebrows furrowed at her question as she sat on the chair beside Kalila.
"What do you mean?" I asked out of curiosity.
"He started reading Mitch Albom's novel last week because he got so amused after reading the synopsis of one of his novels that he didn't even bother checking the background of the author," Vivian explained.
"Not even photos of Mitch Albom?"
"Knowing Zach, I wouldn't be surprised if he thought that Albom was a woman. And besides, he only reads on internet sites that rarely post pictures about the author unlike in their published books and articles."
"Since it was just last week when he started his interest in Mitch's books, that should've given him ample time to figure it out on his own," Kalila said
“But he is still weird, like who else does reading on the internet without being curious about the author’s background and one more he reads on the internet where he can have all the means in accessing living and nonliving things around the globe” and I just shook my head as Vivian and Kalila shrugged their shoulders.
After Kalila said that, we just talked about our plans for tomorrow. Vivian suggested that we go to the cinema since the movies that were recently released were good.
Kalila and Vivian continued planning about what to do tomorrow while I turned to listen to our professor until we finally finished class and everyone started getting ready to go home.
