"...Mom?"
This woman then turned to me and gently smiled. "Hi, sweetie." She proceeded to pull me in for a bone-crushing hug. On the bright side, it snapped me out of my trance.
"What are you doing back?" I managed to say after she let me go. Dad nodded in agreement.
"Well...I'm going to be in town for a while we're shooting a show here." She said with a smile.
"So? What are you doing HERE?" I asked feeling anger starting to boil inside me.
"Lori," my dad hissed nudging me in the side. "You're being very rude."
"No, it's fine Daniel. I've been gone since she was 7, look sweetie I know I haven't been around. But basically, I could've lived in an apartment. However, I thought this would be perfect to get to know you better." She said stroking my hair.
"Well that wouldn't be needed if you were just here from the beginning," I said, looking away.
"Lori, please. She is your mother." My dad said with pleading eyes.
"Some mother she is she abandoned us. She abandoned all of us." I snapped. "She was never there," I said looking at her. "I had to go through puberty by myself, learning how to use a bra, going through my first period."
I turned back to dad, "Don't get me wrong I love you and my brothers but I kind of wish I had another girl to help me through these things," before turning back to face this woman "You never even called, not a single 'hey, how are you doing' why try now?"
I know mom and dad never got a divorce. I don't know what their relationship really is. That day we had all got back from school and mom just packed up her things and said 'Hey, I got the job' kissed all of our foreheads and pulled us in for one last hug, said goodbye and left. Dad looked at us and promised he'd do his best to take care of all of us to the best of his ability. It was so sudden the day before she was at Hudson's soccer game with all of us. She tucked me into bed. We woke up that morning made us breakfast and said Love you to all of us before we went to school.
"Lori..." Dad sighed, "We'll talk about this later. Camryn, come on in. You can unpack in our room. Or you could take the guest bedroom. Whichever you'd like. If you need any help just call me." Dad said before pulling me to the living room.
"Dad. Why'd you let her stay?" I asked in frustration. "She's been gone for 10 years."
"Look, Lori. Your wrong your mother has called however, she thought it was better if none of you kids talked to her. She thought after leaving she should keep her distance. Give her a chance she might've not been here in the past but she's here now." Dad said giving a sad smile. "Try your best to find space in your heart to forgive her and let her back into your life...please?"
