Chapter 1: The Girl In My Room

I wasn't expecting to see anything weird when I woke up this morning, but I did. I opened my eyes to see a girl who appeared to be about my age. I won't lie, she was actually pretty cute. She wasn't far from my height and had light brown hair that matched the color on my own. Of course, it was longer than mine since she's a girl and all and it was tied into two buns at the back on both sides of her head. I stared at the green-eyed girl (my eyes are the same color).

"W-where did you come from?" I asked.

She tilted her head in confusion.

"I've always been here." the girl answered.

"But this is my house." I replied, "I've never seen you here."

The girl sighed in response.

"Have you really forgotten all about me?" she asked.

"I don't even know you." I responded.

"How rude." she replied.

"Who are you?" I asked.

"Since you seem to have forgotten my name, I'll tell you." she said, It's Mika. Please don't forget it, Oscar."

I was confused. How did she know my name???

"Well, are you going to get up?" she asked.

I soon found myself eating breakfast at the same table as her. My parents seemed to be acting as if everything's normal, so I figured it would probably be best not to question them about it.

"Do you like it?" asked Mika

"Like what?" I replied.

"The food." she answered.

"Sure." I responded.

"I made all of it." said Mika.

"Is that so?" I replied.

"Yeah." said Mika.

Everyone eventually went silent. While it was quiet, I finished eating and then got myself ready to leave the house. However, it would be different from most mornings since Mika was waiting for me by the front door.

"Ready to leave?" asked Mika.

"Sure." I replied, unsure of how to feel about everything.

So, I ended up walking to school with the girl. Perhaps the best way to figure out what was going on with her would be to try to get to know her better...? At least, that's what I was thinking.

"So uh... you've been living with me this whole time?" I asked.

"Yeah." answered Mika.

"Why is that?" I asked.

"Because your parents have been letting me stay with you." answered Mika.

"So you're not my sister or something?" I asked.

"I've never been your sister." replied Mika.

"I'd be really confused if you had said you were, because I am an only child." I responded.

"Me too." replied Mika.

"How long have you been staying with us?" I asked.

"Years." answered Mika.

"Like, how many years?" I asked.

"Several." responded Mika.

"But how many years is several?" I asked.

"I don't know. About seven or so?"

"Is there any reason you don't live with your own parents?"

"I don't have any."

"At least, not anymore."

"You don't have any relatives you can stay with?"

"They never liked me."

"Oh, I'm sorry for asking."

"Don't worry about it."

"As long as you're around, I won't be sad."

Before I knew it, we had arrived at school.

"Guess we should get to class." I said.

"Good thing we share the first one." said Mika.

Oh, you gotta be kidding me! And then, we went to class together.
