It was early in the morning when Dakota was woken due to a knock at his door. When he checked his alarm clock on his dresser it said that it was currently 5:00 am. He went to check the door to see who was knocking when to his surprise it was the dorm master.
"Have you seen your roommate Gregory? He hasn't been seen since yesterday afternoon," he said.
Looking at the empty bed across the room he realized that Gory wasn't there. "No, last time I saw him was after you gave the announcement about classes." Dakota thought about where he could be but came up with nothing. "I'll notify you when I come in to contact with him dorm master," Dakota said with a smile.
The dorm master nodded and left. Dakota was wondering where Gory could be. If he never returned to the room last night he had batter go looking for him. Dakota then got dressed and headed outside. He looked for Gory all around the campus but it proved to be pointless as Gory ws nowhere to be found. He sat on a bench that was shaded by a big oak tree when he heard a voice in his head.
"Dakota can you hear me?"
It was Gory and Dakota was relieved to here is voice. "Oh thank god your ok, I couldn't find you anywhere and was beginning to get worried that something bad happened to you." Dakota looked around him expecting Gory to be right behind him but to his surprise noone was there. "Where are you?" Dakota asked.
"I think I am in the martial arts building. It's dark but I can see a statue outside of a martial artist of some sorts. Do you know where that is?" Gory was slipping in and out of conscientious as he was pretty beat up. "Something here is interfering with my ability so the best I could do is contact you."
"Alright, I know where the building is and am on my way. I will be there shortly." Dakota said this as he was running away from the bench towards the martial arts building. He remembered seeing a statue of a man who was in a fighting stance without a weapon and was heading there.
When he got there it was dark inside and he couldn't see anybody inside. He opened the door and in the center of the room there was a boy tied up in a chair. He was bloody and his limbs were bent out of shape. When he saw who the person was he ran towards him as fast as he could. It was Gory and he was badly injured. He wondered why he wasn't teleported to the medical bay due to his injuries.
"The reason I'm still here is because they took the patch off my clothes making it so it can't detect me anymore," Gory said. "That's how they track us. It tracks our vitals and one our heart rate drops below a certain amount we get sent to the med bay."
Dakota was speechless, he never once thought that someone could be mangled to this extent, let alone someone as strong as Gory. Whoever did this has to be really strong.
"Wait a minute, Gory your ability has to do with healing, why haven't you healed yourself yet?
"I have already tried," Gory said. "But if you enter this building with a ability it nullifies it while your in here. It's to make sure people fight with their bodies instead of abilities."
"So there actually is a Demon in this school! I thought the rumors were fake."
"Who's there, and how do you know what I am" Dakota yelled?
"Oh sorry, let me introduce myself. My name is Chester Yetrew, and I know what you are because I know how to bypass the nullifier. All you have to do is enter after curfew and it won't do anything. My ability let's me see your species and power level, pretty nifty if you ask me."
Immediately when the man showed himself Dakota knew he was trouble. He was a tall man, roughly 6'4 and had a muscular build. If he was able to beat someone like Gory to this extent, his power level has to be miles ahead of him.
"I've been waiting for you Dakota. See I am here to kill you and make sure nobody knows what happened. I am a member of the Celestial Church."
When Chester said this Gory's eyes widened to the point you thought they were gonna pop out.
"What's wrong? What's the Celestial Church?" Dakota asked worriedly.
"The Celestial Church is a sect of people who are devoted to the Celestials. They believe there will be a second coming of celestials. They have been waiting for the last 400 years for another to be born," Gory said.
"That is correct young man. In fact we are the reason there haven't been any Demons in the fast 450 years. Every single one of them that we got our hands on is dead, which is all of them of course. Now it's time for you to die."
All of a sudden Chester was right in Dakota's face. He didn't even have time to react to him before he slashes a really long sword at him. At the end of the sword was something that somewhat resembled a cross. Based of context Dakota concluded that it must be a holy sword, but the resemblance to his old planets religion was uncanny.
As the sword approached Dakota he was frozen still... until he found himself across the room unscathed.
A menu screen appeared showing all his stats and power level.

When Dakota was this he was amazed. He had an ability although he had no idea what it meant. But he knew it was good considering he was able to dodge Chester's attack.
Both Chester and Gory were speechless. To their knowledge, Dakota was a average person. But he dodged an attack from something astronomically stronger than him.
Dakota knew at this moment, he stood a chance, albeit a small one, there was still a chance.
"It looks like I might have to try now," Chester said. "You seem to have awoken your demon powers. But at your level I doubt you stand a chance against me at full power.
