Tears

It was fun, everyone was happy. With the way it was going it felt like it would last for a long time. The tale of both lovers had just started. Everyone had such a fun time that they had no strength to march on to their respective beds. Mother slouching on the stool, his father completely gone to heaven, the twins with their backs pasted on the floor like posters. Although exhausted from the the smiling and laughing throughout the dinner, Peeta was not sleeping. He was looking through a window from home trying to get a glimpse of Marianne sleeping. He watched and watched until he wasn't even aware he had fallen asleep.

It took a while for everyone to get up; heavy bones that morning. Peeta was always choreless. All he would do was get up, have his bath and step out if he wanted to, and that was the same course of action that day. By now both families knew of the affection Peeta had for Marianne and her to him. Though a scent of awkwardness still lingered, it was more comfortable than before. They could now be a bit intimate with one another in the presence of their parents. Though now, there was always movement of carriages and horses around that vicinity. The streets were more busy unlike how he left it when he went to University. Like two opposing poles, their eyes jammed one another. His eyes lit up that he did not notice the incoming rider passing the street. It led to an accident. One minute he was smiling, the next he was laying helplessly in bed being examined by a physician, all in the blink of an eye.

"What?, what happened?" he asked. No one responded. There was a certain mood in which the room was surrounded with. Still air, silence, heavy faces. In Peeta's head he thought he was dreaming. It all happened so quickly, like raindrops falling from a corroded roof. His head a bit elevated so he could breathe well. There were injuries and bruises all over. It was more like the horse clattered into him so he got the worse side. The rider was not to blame here. It was Peeta's carelessness because at that moment, love got him blind.

"You'll be fine my love.", Marianne said carefully sobbing.

Peeta felt heavy and weak. He knew by now that he had an accident. His memory started to play what his eye had missed that instant it happened.

"If everything's fine why is she crying mother?" Peeta asked. He was already anxious and a bit agitate. Everyone surrounded Peeta whilst he was on the bed. The twins were little so they didnt know half of what was going on that moment. Marianne was sitting on a stool beside Peeta carefully stroking his hair. Peeta's father was however absent. The physician called his mother to attention not so far away but far enough to avoid him eavesdropping on what he'd eventually hear.

"It would be best if you tell him now" ,the doctor said.

"Mother!" , he shouted in fear. He felt strange. He hadn't felt this way before. By now Marianne's tears were more condensed and he could see that. His Mother turned back already filled with sadness and pity.

"Marianne why cant I feel my legs?, I cant feel my legs!". In tears already, Rhisa couldn't bring herself to tell her son the accident had left him paralyzed from his abdomen down to his feet, but Peeta had realised this already. There was no need for someone to spell it out for him. Trickles of teardrops leaked out of his left eye. His heartbeat slowed.Everything in less than a day went from joy to gloom.
