The Examination in the Village

*Back in the village*

While Lin Xiao was busy with the lake and all, the villagers were staying in the village for the examination. The third elder along with Lin Hou had already left the day before. After experiencing the brutal attack from the beast at the lake, the representative no longer had any intention to stay here.

Only the woman and Liu Gang stayed along with their disciples, Bai Xin and Luo Lan.

"Su Hei."

Glancing to the back, Su Hei noticed Xu Qin in the crowd. She looked anxious as if there was something wrong.

"Yes, Miss Xu?" Su Hei asked in polite tone. He was dressed in his usual clothes, which covered his entire body. However, it was clear that his movement was a bit odd. He was slightly listless and didn't seem like he would be able to fight properly.

Xu Qin had already noticed that Su Hei didn't act as usual. Not to mention, Su Han had just died yesterday and the news had swept the village. Many of them were surprised as they couldn't believe a genius's life ended just like that.

Before he could even showcase his brilliance, he had died.

"Have you seen my father?"

"Your father?"

Xu Qin nodded. "He told me that he wants to check on Lin Xiao, but he hadn't returned yet even though it's already afternoon."

Elder Xu was at Body Training Rank 8, on par with Su Hei. Because of that, Xu Qin believed that it was impossible for Lin Xiao to beat her father much less killed him. Nevertheless, she was worried that Lin Xiao might be ruthless and wound her father badly.

As she was only Body Training Rank 6, she didn't really have the confidence to fight against Lin Xiao head on.

The story of how Lin Xiao could even push back Su Hei was loud and clear. It was not hard to say that he was a threatening opponent.

"He might be delayed," Su Hei replied.

"Can you help me to check?"

Su Hei looked at Xu Qin and arched his eyebrows. He knew very well that Elder Xu came to visit his brother yesterday morning, which brought Su Han to Lin Xiao's residence. While the two families never openly discussed the two youngsters' marriage, it was already an open agreement.

Everyone in the village knew that.

So when Elder Xu said that he wanted to consider Lin Xiao as Xu Qin's partner, the prideful Su Han wouldn't be able to accept it. Who would have thought that the incident would end up in such loss?

"Why should I help you, Miss Xu?"

Xu Qin's expression faltered. If the one standing before her was Su Han, it wouldn't be weird for Su Han to follow what she wanted. However, the one before him was Su Hei, so it was harder for her to get what she wanted.

"That…."

"What can you give me?"

The profound gaze on Su Hei's expression made it harder for Xu Qin to answer. She was looking back at Su Hei, wondering what he wanted.

"That's… what do you want?"

Su Hei looked at the fair woman before him. He knew that Xu Qin was accepted by Yun Liu Luo Sect (Liu Gang's and also Bai Xin sect) after the evaluation just now. In fact, it was clear that she was someone who was favored by the sect greatly.

Previously, the sect was also thinking of accepting Su Han inside. But with Su Han died, they no longer cared that much.

When they heard of the conflict, they didn't even bother and chose to abandon Su Han completely. In their eyes, he was nothing more than an ant that was beneath their attention. They would not even spare a glance to him if it was not because of this mission in this place.

Their talents were not that good for them to make exception.

Su Hei looked at Xu Qin and smiled. "Bring me along into the sect."

The answer startled Xu Qin. She looked at Su Hei with incredulous expression as if it was above her to ask something like that.

"if you don't want, you can just ask your senior sister to search for your father."

Xu Qin gritted her teeth. She had already said that, but Bai Xin and Liu Gang didn't care about it at all. In fact, it was clear that they didn't really put her in that much regard.

"I…I'll try."

Walking to Bai Xin, Xu Qin then asked for a favor. Su Hei has quite good of talent, but he was deemed to be too old by the people here. They didn't want him because it would be hard for someone like him to grow.

"You want us to bring him along?" Bai Xin asked.

"Y…yes."

"If it's Su Han, it'll be better. But Su Hei…" Bai Xin looked at her master, who was lazily playing with a stalk of leaves in his hand.

"Master, what do you think?"

Liu Gang shrugged. "It didn't matter. Whether he can pass the test to the sect later is another question. Bringing him along is fine."

"Thank you, Master!" Xu Qin beamed and then rushed to tell Su Hei about that.
