"Why the hell does this feel so long?" I asked as I waited for the carriage to pick me up.
"Maybe it's because of the fact that it's been thirteen days." Goldy replied.
"What?"
"I said nothing. Don't listen to me." He replied as if he was deliberately hiding something from me.
However, since he's been hiding secrets from me for the longest time, I did not feel the need to ask more from him.
"I see. That makes sense." Goldy nodded his head as if I did something right. I guess I did. In his perspective, at least. I don't know.
"Hua, the carriage is ready for you." Dad swung by to inform me.
"Ah, cool, I'm coming." I said as I donned a nasty look on my face.
Although, the nasty look was meant for Goldy, dad thought it was meant for him and was extremely saddened by it. And I had to console him for over an hour before I could actually get into the carriage.
My dad's a big softie. In certain cases that trait is actually a boon. However, right now as I was preparing for my journey, it actually turned out to be a curse. I had to reassure him multiple times that I'm still his little girl and I still love him for him to actually let me go.
Anyhow, after he let me go, I felt the sense of relief for a slightest amount of time before realising the fact that I am heading towards Qiu Si's house. And with that realization came in another way of frustration and anxiety.
I mean, I have no idea why Qiu Si called me. Well I do, but I sure like to act like I don't, since it is more convenient that way. She has every right be pissed at me. And she sure is gonna be since I can't actually tell the actual reason behind why I lied to my mom the way I did.
Whatever the reason be, I had to stay positive and hope for the right results. This courageous outlook of mine faded away once I reached Qiu Si's house.
The Taiyi sect is actually freaking majestic and that isn't an understatement. Although canonically, I have stepped foot into this place, this is actually my first time here.
You know, I've heard tales about multiple sects chickening out once they reach the main base of the Taiyi sect. And now I understand why that actually happened. I don't think any other sect has this big of a base other than the Blood Moon Sect. And now it made perfect sense as to why Blood Moon Sect and the Taiyi sect had a lifelong rivalry against one another.
In my brief time in the library of my sect base, I had the opportunity to read about the history between the Blood Moon sect and the Taiyi sect. And I came to know about various shenanigans that the ancestors of both sects did. And the reason why they antagonize each other so much.
I mean stuff like kidnapping and extortion happened between both the sects. Now that I think about it, the burning down of the Taiyi sect isn't that big of a deal if you compare to eat with the mass murder that they did about a hundred years ago. Also, the main difference would be the fact that a peace treaty between the Blood Moon sect and Taiyi sect exist in this time period, while it didn't back when that even happened.
As an innumerable number of thoughts swivelled around in my brain, I never did notice the presence of the sect elder.
"Hello Young Miss Hua. It's a fine day, isn't it?" It seemed like the sect elder deliberately took the lead of the conversation so as to spare me of my embarrassment.
However, many didn't seem like this action. It was scorned by most of the younglings of the Taiyi sect. They had the look of spite towards me, as if I offended them greatly.
"Oh don't worry about them. They are slightly jealous about how you are able to become Qiu Si's friend while they weren't." The sect elder turned to me and spoke.
I don't understand. How come Qiu Si has a good relationship with the sect elder by now? Is this because you won the rookie championship? Most probably that's the case. But did she have this kind of power to actually influence a sect elder in the original game?
Maybe, but the Qiu Si in the game lived a frugal life. I mean, she didn't spend on anything. She didn't have any friends, so she didn't feel the need to invite someone. And the ones who wanted to become her friends were the ones who sensed an opportunity in her. They were certainly not her friends, so she really didn't feel the need to invite them either.
So, even if she had the power to fabricate a letter of lies from the sect elder back in the game, I would have never known.
"You seem quite anxious. It seems like you wanna meet Qiu Si as quickly as possible, huh?" The sect elder asked as he saw me indulged in thoughts.
"Haha, yeah, that's exactly the reason." I chuckled nervously.
I mean, I really don't want to see Qiu Si… Or at least that's what I thought before I got to see the sect's main base. Now that I seen this, I lost all my will and I would rather see Qiu Si than stroll in this freaking luxurious garden any longer.
"Qiu Si has been excited lately ever since she heard about your arrival. I mean, I've never seen that child smile as much as I seen since that letter came. So I would like to thank you for that." It seemed like the elder was about to bow his head down towards me.
However, I stopped it before he could do so since either of these two scenarios would happen if that occurred—one; the Taiyi sect's disciples will try to chop off my head or two; I'll try to chop off their heads.
Since neither of these seemed beneficial to me, I simply wanted to escape. And my saving grace came in the form of Qiu Si.
