Chapter Eleven - Temporary Solution

ADIAN'S POV

Shocked at what just happened. "What the hell just happen" I asked uncle Jerry.

With a sad look, "there's so much you don't understand" he says sadly.

Confused "so enlighten me then?" I requested, frustrated

Shaking his head, "it's not my place to discuss it with you" he simply answers. "What I can say though is that your father is not the enemy. It's time, that you give him a chance" he smiles sadly.

Opening, the cake, I started eating, not because I wanted to but because I needed to do something.

The ringing of uncle Jerry's phone distracted me from my thoughts.

"Hello?" he answered.

Listening without saying a word, an angry expression on his face.

After a few minutes, he hung up, leaned back and looked at me.

*So this is what it is"he started.

"Your marriage has been arrange and you have, for whatever reasons, already agreed to comply with it. What's expected now, is to announce the engagement and wedding date." uncle Jerry states what's expected of me.

"Where's the boss?" I asked meaning my father.

Staring at me weirdly, "in his office, he's not feeling well" uncle Jerry excuses my father.

Annoyed with this constant dancing around between the both of them over the years, I got up and walked out of his office slamming the door behind me, going into the elevator without acknowledging those around. F**k them, they're accustom to my mood swings by now.

Exiting the elevator, I strode into my father's office as a predator ready to pounce.

I didn't expect to see what I saw. Instead of my father, the co-founder billionaire of Sullaknights investment and CEO of the Knights Foundation. I see a fifty three year old, broken man, seemingly without hope.

Being the obnoxious son of a bitch that I am, I choose to ignore my father's pain and pour extra vinegar to increase his pain as usual.

"You f***ring want to talk to me, so talk!", I yelled, as uncle Jerry slams open the office door.

Ignoring him, I pulled a chair directly in front of my father, "let's get this conversation over and done" I rudely demanded.

Uncle Jerry sat beside me, probably here to break up the fight that has been in the making since I was eleven.

"Arrangements will be made for your upcoming marriage. Your mother will plan everything her way, unless you intervene and make your own contributions.

Not hearing what I needed to hear, I just sat there and waited.

My father continues, " she will be announcing the engagement as soon as possible and the wedding in two weeks" he says calmly, still looking disturb.

"Announce?" I angrily asked standing up.

My father and uncle Jerry nodded remaining silent.

"I'm not ready for this, much less for it to be made public. I mean she only mention it this morning and three hours later she called to say it's f***ring on." I angrily emphasize.

"So how do you want to go about it?" my father asks.

"Is the Sullivan girl involved?" I wondered hating her more.

Chuckling, "knowing my sister the poor girl's only contributions will be to show up on time" uncle Jerry laughs.

Throwing myself back on the chair, "I want none of this, absolutely none of it" I insisted.

"How long can we put this of for?" I wondered

Looking at each other, then at me, "you need to married in two weeks" uncle Jerry explains.

"Why? Why two weeks? What's the f***ring rush" I queried.

"It was suppose to be two weeks ago, but the Ryan's daughter was a no show until today." my father explains.

"What? She only showed up today and agreed to the marriage instantly? Is she crazy? Who would do that?" I ask myself.

"Honestly I have no idea what Knox told her that had her convince but I know he would not have told her that she's an heiress. That is the one thing she will find out in her own?" My father says.

"Hmph, yeah, so she's been living of the profits from Sullaknights, thinking it just drop from the sky" I asked sarcastically.

Shaking his head, "I don't think it's like that with her" uncle Jerry says shaking his head. "I mean, she got a scholarship to college and donated her entire college fund to charity, so spending unwisely doesn't seem like her" uncle Jerry smiles in admiration.

Glaring at uncle Jerry with disgust, "you want a halo to put on her head?" I asked him

Smiling mischievously, he shrugs his shoulder, "you will give her one in the distant future." he assures me, grinning.

I went to pour myself a straight shot of whiskey, swallowing the burning sensation as it revives my senses. Pouring another shot I walked back to my chair.

"How can I stall this from happening?" I asked no one in particular.

"You can't stall it" uncle Jerry says.

"What about the announcement? I will get married but keep it out of the public eyes until I get to know her. I don't want the term arrange marriage added to my name" I explain.

"Can I get married but postpone the announcement?" I asked them. "I could register and do a public wedding in a few months as I allow myself to become accustom to being married and her?" I asked hopefully.

"That could work, but the most difficult part is, "who will tell your mother" my father asks.

My father and I stared at each other and we both turned, looking at uncle Jerry.

Raising his hands in annoyance, "oh, so you both agree on something for a change?" uncle Jerry asks sarcastically.

Taking my second shot of whiskey, I stood up to get another one, "get me a glass, I need to pump up to speak to Amelia.

I poured three glasses, with my father raising his glass in a toast to me, as I sat down
