Chapter Twenty Two - Invitation to move in

ADIAN'S POV

After a short drive from Hailey's apartment, I dropped Jerry off at Sullaknights.

"You really moved your office to Knights Foundation" uncle Jerry asks before exiting my car.

He already knows that when I make a decision, I stick to it, mainly to prove myself right and everyone, especially my father wrong.

"You already know the answer" I responded curtly.

Raising his eyebrows, "oh I know, it's just that without a wedding band, Hailey's a single gal, especially to Clyde, her first and only friend on the job, so far" be says as he gets out of the vehicle slamming the door behind him, briskly walking away.

What the f**k, How the hell did that happen? I shouldn't be bother, she's nothing to me. I have my girls, she can do or have who she wants. but she will not disrespect me.

Pulling out my phone, dialing Chubbs.

" Hello" my baby sister sings into the phone.

"Hey" I responded happy to hear her voice after I disappeared from the wedding party on Saturday afternoon.

"AD, I need Hailey's number! Do you have it?" she asks excitingly.

Do I have my wife's number? I don't think so, but she doesn't need to know that.

"Why" I asked instead.

"Oh, Mr. Knox's twenty first birthday gift to her was two season tickets for the Lakers and she invited me to be her plus one" she boasts laughing.

The game starts this Sunday and my sister got the extra ticket. So she's a Lakers fan.

As if reading my mind, "if you had stuck around Saturday afternoon, it might have been you" she continues to laugh hysterically.

Getting annoyed with her making fun of me, "do you want me to hang up or tell you why I called?" I asked abruptly.

Still chuckling, 'oh do tell" she invites.

"Now that Hailey and I are married, would you like to move in with us?" I asked hoping she'll say yes.

After what I consider a long pause, "really? that could happen? would she be okay with me living with you?" she started asking softly as she got more excited.

"Only one way to find out. Get dress, she's at home, I'm coming to pick you up.

"Thank you AD, oh thank you!" she sings as she hangs up.

Since Chubbs birth. my father have gotten more distant from the family. Yes, he and I were still close, but the more he pushed my mother away and held Chubbs at arm length, the more I pushed him away.

How could he only have love for me? That is unacceptable and now that they want send my baby sister to boarding school they will get a war on their hands unless she comes to live with me. Yes, and Hailey, my wife.

During through the traffic thinking of how exciting my boring day has been so far. I will go to the police station before the day's end to get some answers on scarface.

Mrs. Pierce, where have I seen her before? One thing I do know, is that I know her, but remembering her is the difficult part right now.

Tapping my fingers on the steering wheel as I wait for the lights to change.

Remembering Hailey, the red velvet girl! it it wasn't for my arrange marriage, I would have pursue her, but as interested as I was then, I didn't.

Now she's mines, but, I won't. I won't allow her near. Having her as a wife will be an asset to me by helping keep my sister.

Now how do I get a ticket for the first Lakers game.

As I drove into my parents driveway, I dialed Chubbs, not wanting to see my mom.

'Am ready" she shouts.

"Just meet me at the door" I told her and hung up.

I laid my forehead on my fingers that were on top on the steering wheel.

Hearing a tap on my front passenger window, only to see my mother, in a black strap dress, that clings to her surprisingly slim frame. A body she works hard to maintain with her countless diets.

"Who died" I enquired, as I powered down the window.

Getting straight to the point, "you disappointed me" I says flatly, apparently still upset.

"I agreed to marry her, I did not agree to be her husband" I said, suddenly getting angry again. If I continue speaking to my mother I will forget about going over to Hailey's.

"Where's Chubb's?" I asked, fighting the urge not to argue with my mother today.

At that moment, my baby sister comes running out of the house, shutting the door behind her, adjusting her knapsack which eas clearly cramped.

Only stopping beside the car as she see mom sitting in the passenger seat.

Frowning she looks between us, probably wondering if we are fighting again. Shaking my head, she smiles.

"Where ate you taking my daughter?" mother asked.

What story would she buy?

"I want to invite Hailey over, so we thought with Chubbs there. she'll agree." I explained, lying.

A broad smile broadens on her face, nodding, "yes that's a good idea" getting out of the car quickly, holding the door open for Chubbs and shutting it after Chubbs was sitting safely inside, "buckle up" she instructs Chubbs as she plants a kiss on her head.

"Drive safe and have fun" she sings, waving us off as I started driving up the driveway.

"That was easy," Chubbs chuckles.

"So you'll give me your ticket to Sunday's game?" I ask knowing I was going to get shut down.

"Uh uh" she answered confidently.

Chubbs turned on the radio, so the balance of the drive to Hailey's apartment was in absolute silence.

Mrs. Pierce, what's her story? I have seen her before but I just can't remember where. I may not want to be involved in Hailey's life but I will feel responsible if anything goes wrong.

There is something about her and the panic attacks, I still need to know about scarface and Mrs. Peirce.

"We're here" I said out loud.

Looking out the window, "wow!" Chubb's responds as she views the building. "Maybe we should move in here instead", Chubbs suggests.

" Yeah right, let's go Missy" I said climbing out of the vehicle, making sure, Chubb's was behind me, locking the doors with the remote as we walked towards the elevator, acknowledging the security as we strode by.

In the elevator, "so the thing is, Hailey doesn't know, we're here or why, please be good and don't blurt it out?"
