Chapter Twenty Eight

Adian's POV

Basil and I were finished clearing the table and washing the dishes so we just sat at the kitchen counter, sipping whiskey that my best friend insists, I needed.

After filling him on everything that went down today. I did get a verbal bashing from him when I told him about Sammy and my hookup after signing the marriage register.

"You have a chance at a good thing with Hailey bro, if you continue to mess with Sammy and those other whores you hook up with, you will end up with major problems. Mark my word", Basil encourages me, while warning me at the same time.

Deep in thought, I was attracted to Hailey when I first saw her and the short conversation we had in the coffee proved that she can carry herself.

Seeing her reaction with the scarred man and hearing what Jerry shared with me, makes me want to protect and shield her from more harm and hurt, getting close to her could complicate my life and I am satisfy with where I'm at.

Finding out about what actually happen with her parents is another thing, Basil and I will investigate under low.

"Don't you see it?" I heard the tail end of what Basil was asking.

"What?" I raised my eyebrows at him with questioning expression, totally lost on what he asked me.

With an unbelievable disgusted look at me, Basil gets get from the table to pour himself another drink.

Filling his glass with ice, he then fills it with whiskey, looked at me, shook his head at me before walking out of the kitchen.

Leaving me sitting here, wondering, what the f**k did I do now?

"Well helloo gray" I heard Basil sing in a flirtatious tone.

Gray, my wife! I stood up.

"Hey, I . I. uh.. just came to see if you all needed help with cleaning up" she stammers softly but loud enough for me to hear her.

I sat back down, taking extra sips of my drink.

"Well the ass***e and I already did it" he informs her, chuckling.

"Oh" I heard her say, "well it's been a long day, goodnight then" she told him.

"Wait, aren't you going to tell the ass***e goodnight? He is your host after all" I heard Basil say. "he's in there" he adds.

"Um.. no I won't bother him" she said apparently leaving, because she didn't come into the kitchen and I heard the jackass chuckling as he walks away.

What's her problem? and when did I acquire a girlfriend? Is she jealous? That could work to get rid of her.

Pouring myself another drink on the rocks, I ventured out of the kitchen after securing the house, making sure it's lockdown tightly. Drinking down my shot, allowing the burning sensation to flow through down my throat. Placing the empty glass in the counter top, I went to my room, passing her door, hearing Chubbs giggling and then the jackass outrageous laughter.

Without knocking, I open the door to see my wife sitting quietly in a corner of the bed hugging herself with Adana and Bas, sitting in the end of the bed looking into a phone, laughing at whatever they're looking at.

As her gaze caught mines, she sits up a bit, staring at me with a small smile.

Nodding, as I acknowledged her, with dark eyes. I then looked to Bas and Chubbs, "time for bed kids, tomorrow is a working day and you miss, I went closer ruffle my sisters hair, "have school tomorrow" I said.

"Aren't we going to talk to Hailey" she asks excitingly, "tomorrow" I told her, while observing that Hailey did loom a bit exhausted. "Yeah tomorrow we'll talk" I said mostly to myself, lifting Chubbs off the bed, throwing her over my shoulders with her loud screams echoing in the room.

"Say goodbye all" I told her.

"Goodbye all" she screams as I carried her out of Hailey's room, going next door to Chubbs room.

I flung my former chubby sister on her bed quite easily.

She stopped me while I was walking away with her words, "she won't hurt you, you know" Chubbs said softly.

Wearily I stood looking at her before going back to sit where I threw her on the bed.

"Wanna hear something?" I ask with a grim smile.

"Always" she nods.

Turning to stare at the wall facing me, "I met Hailey two weeks before the luncheon," I said and went on to tell her from the moment I saw her on the streets up until we got married.

Clapping her hands happily, "That's so romantic" she said.

I playfully shoved her flat on the bed, before going to my room.

No sound, meant Basil has also gone to bed. After a quick shower, I barely put my head on my pillow before falling into a deep restless sleep with Chubbs and Hailey's faces haunting me. For some reason I couldn't distinguish between the two.

After dropping Chubbs off to school. I called Basil to make sure he dropped Hailey off because I have a meeting with him afterwards.

I agreed to meet him at Sullaknights office because I already missed yesterday's meeting and that won't go down well with the board.

Hailey doesn't know it but I've put Basil on bodyguard duty and also placed a driver who will also serve as her bodyguard until I'm rid of that mother***ker, scarman.

When I got to my office, my PA followed me in quickly letting me know my father's waiting for me.

"Good morning son" my father greeted me as I walked in with my PA behind me an the blonde receptionist following with a cup of coffee for both my father and I.

Lifting my cup, making a toast to him, "here's to the beginning of another f*"led up day, I said sitting behind my desk.

"What brings you into my corner this early?"
