Adian's POV
Placing the coffee cups on the kitchen counter, I observed her looking around.
With a sad smile, "I'm sorry, I just remember the mess I left in the kitchen in last night" she says horrified.
Shrugging it off "don't worry, Chubbs and Basil were happy to help you. After all, you did all of the cooking in here." I tell her
Sitting down, I motion for her to take the seat opposite me at the kitchen counter.
When she was seated, I put the coffee mug in front of her, which she gladly took, being a coffee lover, like myself.
She lifted it to her beautiful lips, that I was tempted to kiss earlier, but there is a lot that needs to be sorted out between us. Between our families and I still have no idea how to start the conversation that is burning a hole in my heart and my head.
I heard her cries during the nightmare I fought hard to wake her from and so far she doesn't remember.
Reading the book she named her dream and nightmare book. It pains me to see the pain she has been going through all alone.
Her fight to remember her parents and what happened to them. From what I've read so far she saw her mother died and has yet to see her father.
I have to know because my family is connected to the mystery surrounding her and I need to help her heal.
I have been pushing her away because I am scared to love again but, my wife is special and today I promise to keep her close, starting with moving back to Sullaknights.
I'm not sure when to make our marriage public knowledge but I want her to know that we are in this for the long run.
"Are you okay?" she asks me softly.
"Are you?" I responded
Nodding, "yes I am. For the first time in forever" she said smiling easily with me.
"Is the coffee any good?" I ask her.
"Gosh yes! Thank you for this and for taking care of drunk me" she bends her head avoiding my eyes.
This is it, my opening. "It's what married people do right? Support each other?" I asked her
Looking at me in surprise, "what?" was all she ask still looking stunned.
"You heard me" I said, waiting for her response.
"Sure?" she responded still unsure of my intention.
Putting my hand across the counter, I reached for hers, "Hailey" I started as she allowed me to hold her hands in mines. This feels perfect.
" We got off to a bad start and I made it worst with my rebellion to my family, not you " I clarify, not wanting her to blame herself.
Nodding, she encouraged me to continue.
Breathing on deeply before continuing, "I was betrayed and hurt three years ago and I have not allowed anyone near me since, until you" I say, looking into her bright gray eyes.
"Marriage is eternal for me and I am hoping it is for you also, before we go any further" I added, with raised eyebrows.
Smiling, "it is, but what brought this on?" she asks, maybe still sceptical of me.
Looking at her thoughtfully, "I'll fill you in on that later, I just want to know how you feel and if you could ever forgive me for the way I treated you since we got married?" I ask hopefully.
She stood up releasing my hand to walk around the counter towards me. Pulling her into my arms as we wrapped our arms tightly around each other.
"This means you've forgiven me?" I ask chuckling.
"Yes" she responds softly.
Lifting her chin with my index finger, I slowly lowered my head, allowing my lips to hover over hers, we stared at each other.
Standing between my legs I pulled her closer, crashing my lips on hers, already falling in love with my wife.
This is definitely a deeper feeling, and the feel of her body next to mines as our lips and tongues dance with each other. I love my wife, Hailey Knights.
