Chapter Ninety One Enjoying Emmy

Adian's POV -

I was stunned to hear from Emmy that three men were her with uncle Peter to see me and one is Adian. I didn't know if to run through the back exit or stay put. I pondered for a few minutes wondering why they were here with Adian, knowing that Basil is one of the men for sure and possibly Jerry since I met him for coffee a few days ago.

I have to tell Adian why I came back and why I ended up staying hidden as I tried to sort myself and my mom's death out. I know that his mom is his life and knowing that she killed my mom will devastate him and I cannot be with him and not tell him the truth.

I thought I could trust Jerry so I called to meet him but I chicken out and begged him not to mention to Adian that we met, but with Adian being here, I guess that must have mention it.

I glance at Basil who was unnerving me with the way he looked at me so I look at Adain instead, whose was unnerving me just the same.

Jerry gave me an encouraging smile, but like Basil said, I owe him an apology.

Facing Basil head on, I'm sorry" I told him seriously.

"What did you do Hailey?" Emmy interrupted me.

Before I could answer, Basil answered instead, "Hailey has been a bad girl," he told her and she tilted her head to look at me confused.

Ignoring Basil, I addressed Emmy instead, "don't listen to him sweetheart, he had to keep something safe and he lost it." I told her giving him a smirk.

The clearing of a throat, cause all eyes to turn on Adian, as Basil, kept muttering to himself. "I don't think this is a conversation for this table" Adian glared at both Basil and I and to be honest, I do owe Basil an apology.

I turned to him again, "I hope that you can find it in your heart to forgive me and that my childish choices will not affect our friendship" I genuinely apologized. If I had a phone when I first left I would have called him and let him know that I was fine.

Basil smiles and nods as he started eating again. "You cooked this, didn't you?" Basil asks as he takes more bites from his plate.

"Hailey is the best cook" Emmy said, "and she made this for me" Emmy added proudly, macaroni pie, fried chicken are one of her favorite meals ever so I did as she requested adding vegetables and green salad to complete the dish for the adults.

"Oh in case you guys want seconds, we still have more in the kitchen" I told them especially Basil was totally enjoying his meal, while Adian on the other hand was picking at his food. "You shouldn't waste that" I told him over Emmy's head, with a smile but I swear his blue eyes were piercing into my heart and my soul.

I was so worried about him but Jerry convinced me that he had recovered, because when I first got back to the city and found out he was staying at him mother's, I was motivated to keep my distance. I am sure that he did not know that I had returned to the penthouse for a day while he was at his mother's.

I want to ask so much questions, but not right now, so I have to wait and I can't wait to leave with him.

"So Emmy, do you guys ever serve mac and cheese here?" Jerry suddenly asked as Basil starts to snicker, and Adian shakes his head at them annoyed.

Emmy smiles excitedly because mac and cheese is her third favorite meal. 'Yes, every week, right Hailey?" Emmy looks at me to confirm the home's meal schedule.

Nodding, taking bites of the macaroni that Mrs. Harris came over last night to help me prepare. She's still in the back with Gerard hiding from Adian, because they don't want him to know that they came this week to help. I already warned Emmy not to call their names out loud.

Suddenly Basil breaks into my thought with the weirdest question, "so on mac and cheese night, do you guys have food fights?" he chuckles at my expression and throws a piece of carrot at Adian.

Emmy and I both answered simultaneously, with her answering yes and I responding no,

Laughing, "invite me when next it's mac and cheese night and I'm sponsoring that night" Basil informs and already excited Emmy.

I felt happy to see the guys enjoying time with her. "You will also have to cook the mac and cheese" I told him because I won't help him plan the mischief he's already planning to make.

Chuckling he looks at me, "oh, Mrs Harris will cook for me" Basil told me, as a confuse light seem to light up in Emmy's head.

"Mrs. Harris?" She asks Basil, still confused but as she was about to speak again I cut her off.

"Eat quickly Emmy, I have to clean up to leave today." I hope she forgot what she was going to say but instead she turned look at me knowingly.

Like the smart, brave little girl that she is, "I didn't forget Hailey," she told me as she went back to eating her lunch.

I looked up to see all three pair of eyes on me, "what was that?" Basil askes, because only Jerry knew that I was here temporary.

I just shrugged my shoulders as Jerry started chatting with Emmy and I frown as I listen to Jerry interact with her as if he knew her, but he just smile and continued talking to her.

I promised myself that I would adopt Emmy. I tried twice but was turned down because of my age.

I wonder if Adian will want me too?
