Adian's POV
Hailey's been struggling to keep a straight face and I have to hand it to her, she's very good at hiding her emotions. Somehow I'm learning to read her, which I think scares her.
I hadn't planned on having sex with her this afternoon because I wanted her first time to be special. I did have a trip planned but things changed after my mother drugged me and brought home against my will.
I could kick myself for taking her in the shower but she initiated it and after wanting her for so long, I didn't back down.
As she lay asleep in my arms, I see her vulnerability and I promised to protect her always. For us to move on I have to find out about her father and she has to know that Adana is her half sister even if mom doesn't approve.
Tightening my arms around her, I slowly allowed myself to fall asleep, afraid that she might try to run again.
Before I opened my eyes, I felt around for Hailey and I instantly panicked, throwing my feet off the bed unto the floor. Raking my hands through my hair, trying to get control of my emotions. Hailey is fine. We are fine, there is no reason for her to leave.
I used the bathroom to freshen up before walking down to the kitchen barefooted, clad only in joggers and a t-shirt.
The sound of voices stopped me in my tracks just outside the door.
"Even if you don't tell me you need to let Adian know." I heard Bas say and I stood waiting to hear to whom he was speaking.
After a long paused I finally heard another voice, Hailey's. "God I trust you guys, but..." she trailed off leaving me to wander what's really going on in her head. As I was about to walk into the kitchen, she started speaking again.
"If what I remember is accurate, it will be devastating to him and I won't hurt him. Being away this week was so hard. For some reason Adana has started hating me and I was afraid that Adian would start hating me too." she confessed.
"I can't answer for Chubbs, but I know that your husband is not that kind of guy." Bas tells her and I smiled at my friend who always got my back. "Something tells me that the both of you need to discuss your past and allow Adian to help you find, who and what you are looking for. Then you can live your happily ever after.
Chuckling softly, "I think I should take him some coffee." Hailey says and Bas quickly cuts her off.
"Oh no, no, no!" he said, "don't you go spoiling him. Let him come down and get his own coffee." Bas sounded adamant.
Choosing that moment, I strode into the kitchen, staring first into Hailey's wide grays that stared back at me with a guilty expression.
I walked around to her and took the coffee out of her hands, "hey that's mines," she reaches for the cup, but I was already settling myself opposite Bas.
Bas glares at me with an incredulous expression, "seriously man?" he asks, standing up to walk out the door. "Newlyweds" he mutters walking away.
"Would you like some breakfast?" Hailey offers, coming to stand in front of me with a fresh cup of coffee in her hands.
Shaking my head, "not now" I refused, holding her hips and drawing her closer to me.
"Why did you leave me alone in bed?" I ask. Putting down her cup she wraps her arms around my neck with my head on her chest.
I've been with lots of girls but holding this girl in my arm is absolute perfection. She fits me perfectly and I will not allow my mother or our parents past to destroy us. I will destroy everyone else first.
Standing up, I pushed her against the table, capturing her lips in an instant. Deepening the kiss, "let's go back upstairs" I whispered,
"But the coffee will get cold" Hailey whispered back, much to my annoyance.
No bothering to have a discussion about this, I lifted her in my arms and started walking up the stairs despite her feeble attempts to stop me.
After showering, I convinced Hailey to join me at the Knights Foundation for a few hours where she'll meet dad and the board members.
Mrs. Harris was already in the kitchen behind the stove with Bas heckling her as usual much to the amusement of Mel who sat silently with a contented smile.
"Wow!" Bas said,, his eyes on Hailey, who immediately blushed at Bas's word.
Glaring at him and at the way he stared at Hailey, I turned to look at her myself. Other than the white dress that drops about five inches above her knee clinging to her sexy curves. There's also a extra glow in her smile.
She is so f***ing hot!
I put a possessive arm around her Hailey's hip , hearing Mel chuckles, "down boy."
"Breakfast anyone?" Mrs. Harris interrupted us, laughing as Bas hangs his tongue out, like a dog.
After a heavy breakfast, I drove us to Knights Foundation, with one quick stop at Starbucks.
Hailey insists that coffee outside tastes one hundred percent better after having coffee at home.
I observed Hailey's fidgety movements sitting in the front passenger seat. Reaching out a hand, I held her hand that laid on her lap.
With a sheepish grin she turns to me, "why did I allow you to convince me to come here today again?" she chuckles nervously.
Squeezing her thigh gently, "I asked, you accepted. You didn't need much convincing." I retorted grinning, noticing her blush, no doubt remembering where we were and what we were doing when I asked her.
Mel went directly to her work station to resign, while Hailey and I took the elevator to the top floor to my office.
