Chapter One Hundred and Six- Photographers

Bulbs were flashing as we walked towards Gerard's vehicle and all I could think about is that my jeans is too short!

"Thank you, " I tipped the baggage attendant, who escorted us outside with the purchases.

I quickly sorted out Amos items and place the bags inside the vehicle, leaving everything else in the trunk, with Gerard hovering around me, trying to shield me away from the flashing bulbs.

One photographer pushed closer, "the people just wanted a photo of the woman who broke up a happy engaged couple" the one photographer who was brave enough, shouted out to me.

I walked around to the door behind the drivers seat, fighting the urge to respond to the lies being thrown at me.

"Why are you ashamed? Are you guilty of something? Come on tell us the truth! Tell us, why you would come between the knights family? Breaking their son's engagement and causing rift between the family?" She continued to badger me with her lies.

Angrily I spun around to respond to those lies, but the look in Gerard's eyes, stopped me. Instead of responding angrily, I slowly took off the Nike cap off my head. allowing my dark hair to hang loose and pulled off my sunglasses. I smiled sweetly at the young photographer who accosted me with the lies that she's been fed, observing her, up and down.

"Don't speak" Gerard leaned down to tell me but I didn't listen and turned to the photographer.

With a sad smile, "I can see why you were chosen to stand in public and hide behind a camera to ridicule me by throwing lying accusations at at me." I started as she raised her camera higher to take more photos of me up close while other photographers, started taking pictures of her.

"The persons who fed you these lies, can see that you are desperate to make some money for yourself and are just using you. Are you that gullible?" I asked, pausing, as I tried putting words together in my mind so that I can make my point clear. The photographer, slowly lowers her camera as I spoke.

"If you come after me with further, untrue accusations, I promise you that, every cent you work for, from now on, will be paid to charities close to my heart" I continued, with an air of authority, I definitely didn't feel.

Looking at her, I saw beyond what she's trying to portray. I pulled some cash out of my pocket and handed her $100, while other photographers were taking photos and recording our confrontation. "Buy yourself something, nice." I said politely to her, leaving the folded money in her open palm.

I am wondering if she was just set up to lure the real reporters to me.

I looked around at the other reporters, "if you want the truth, I'll be in touch." I informed them, with the same sweet smile.

I gave a bottle water to Gerard as we were about to drive out.

"Thank you" Gerard accepted the water. "Your husband is not going to be too happy" he says, peering into the rearview mirror.

I turned around to realize a car was still following us.

Surprise, no one knows who I am, why would they follow me, unless someone....

"Do you think they followed us from the penthouse? I asked worried now, that I left and didn't leave a message with anyone. Mrs. Harris had already left.

I reached for my phone, "f***" I muttered, "I forgot my phone." I cried, panicking now.

Handing me his phone, "you can use mines" he offered. "In fact you should call and and let Adian know that you're with me." Gerard suggests.

Leaning back in he car seat, "you know what, let's just drop these off and go home, I'll visit nanny Pierce tomorrow." I decided, smiling outwardly but inwardly, I'm nervous!

I called Amos to meet us in front and to bring someone else to help him and I hoping don't bother Amos after I go with questions.

A jolly Amos came and greeted me with a kiss on each cheek under the watchful eyes of my driver, who today has been on bodyguard duty.

After I've given him the groceries with a promise to visit another day, I gave some cash to him and the other day security.

The drive back to Adian's penthouse was eerily quiet and I didn't miss the fact that Gerard keep looking at his side mirrors at the car behind us and observing me in the rearview mirror.

"I should have realized something was off earlier, but my head was not in the game and I miss those guys" Gerard say angrily.

Still shocked that I am being followed, "I don't understand, nobody knows me so how could they be after me?" I said to myself.

Meeting my eyes in the mirror, "you're a Knights now" Gerard reminded me.

We drove into the underground parking at my husband's penthouse. I took my groceries which were quite a bit including water cases, leaving the balance for Gerard to take to his family.

Observing the groceries that remained, Gerard turned to me, "that's to much" he told me looking back at the bags, his cold hard eyes softening.

Chuckling, "I think you might know a bit about me by now, so then you know helping our friends and family is something that I do." I explained.

When the elevator doors open into the apartment my husband was standing legs apart, arms folded and glaring angrily at me.

"Guess he's got an idea of what went down at the supermarket carpark." Gerard commented, walking up behind me holding most of the grocery bags, while Basil ran behind Adian with a mischievous smirk and takes the bags I held, from my hands.

I shoved my now empty hands into my front buckets standing awkwardly facing Adian, whose eyes roamed my body from head to toe.

Twitching his lips, "okay."
