Chapter One Hundred and Eight - Why Cheat?

I smiled realizing, that Adian ordered dinner for Gerard to take home, which is the reason I wanted to prepared dinner.

After the dinner came, Adian and Basil went down with Gerard to bring up the cases of water and other drinks, we left back in the car.

Mel and I were setting the dinner table, "are you excited to start your new job tomorrow?" she asks, me, chuckling.

I looked at her, horrified at the thought, "gosh no, but at least I'll have you near." I admitted.

Mel kept glancing back and forth at me, "I saw the way you handled yourself with the reporter and I kinda figured out that you were tempted to kick her ass" Mel chuckles and now I am wondering if others on the outside saw the samething.

Thoughtfully, I stopped setting the table to look at her, "was it that obvious on the news?" I pulled out my phone, to check the news report.

Laughing, "well I did see you kick your husband's ex and my husband's" she paused with a thoughtful frown, "whatever she is" Mel continues, not looking at all perturb.

While waiting for the page to open, "are you okay, with him and her?" I asked, needing to know and hoping that I never have to go through that.

Resting her palms flat on the table, "I think, all I feel is embarrass with all that I went through." Mel admits. "It's like she pushed the relationship in my face," Mel looks at me, and I frown. "you know?" she asks hoping that I would understand.

Not sure that I do, but I know that if someone came between Adian and I, now, I may not be able to handle it.

Without thinking , I blurted out, "I think that my dad cheated on my mom!" I finally voiced my nightmare and hearing it out loud, felt the same as dreaming it.

Mel seem to realize there was a change in my demeanor, "I'm sorry Hailey, I didn't know." She puts her hand on mines.

Shaking my head, happy that for the first time I can share my feelings with someone other than a shrink, "it led to her untimely death." I continued, as if Mel wasn't there anymore. I felt as if it was just me, and me alone.

Finally I lifted my eyes to meet Mel's, who stared back at me with a sad expression in her eyes, "she died right in front of me," I added before she came to hug me, but I had no tears.

"Oh my God, Hailey, I am so sorry that you had to see that." Mel tried comforting me, but I realize that it wasn't comfort that I needed, but revenge. I need to avenge my mother's death! Starting with the person who pushed her.

"She was murdered" I continued calmly, staring at the refrigerator behind Mel's back.

Mel paused, patting my back and just held me in silence.

"You guys okay? " Basil asks as Mel slowing remove her arms from around me, but she didn't answer while I kept my eyes down at my phone.

Taking a deep breath, I turn to face the guys who stood at the open doorway with the drinks in their hands. plastering my fake smile, "yeah, I'm good" I responded, turning to Mel, "you good?" I asked her, but she stares at me confused and just nodded.

Basil turns to look at Adian whose eyes didn't leave my face, "okay then" he brings the drinks and places it on the kitchen counter.

I walked to the refrigerator, taking out the remaining wine I was drinking earlier and a glass, pouring some, simply needing to numb myself.

Before I could take a sip, Adian walks up to me and slaps the glass out of my hand hearing it shattered on the floor, "that's enough!" He stares angrily at me.

Not intimidated, with the anger that's blazing in his eyes, "hey," I pouted, reaching for the bottle, Adian removed from my reach.

Adian, still angry turned to Mel, "what is going on?" he asks a still confused Mel.

What the hell is his problem? "We were just discussing why men cheat on good women for evil bitches." I responded for Mel, who suddenly woke up from her daze.

Adain glances between Mel and I and I chuckle as Mel shakes her head, admitting it, because we were discussing cheating husbands and cheating fathers.

Sulking I went to sit behind the kitchen table where our dinner was already spread out, Ignoring my hot headed husband.

We were eating in silence, before Basil started making light conversation, encouraging Mel and I to join in, but Adian just continued eating in silence, brooding over his dinner.

When Adian's phone rang, he shook his head in disgust, at the caller ID, but still answered it, walking away from the table.

"So you ready for tomorrow?" Basil asks the same question, Mel asked earlier and the answer is still the same.

Shaking my head, with my mouth full of noodles, "uh, uh" I admitted. Taking a swallow, "I still can't understand why Adian would have so much confidence that I will be able to do it." I admitted with wry smile.

Shrugging his shoulders, "it's good when a man can encourage his wife, having confidence that she's able to get the job done, just like him or maybe better." Basil chuckles.

Pointing my fork at him, "oh no, definitely not better." I corrected him, happy that Adian have that much confidence in me but, I looked to the doorway, he just walk through, wondering whose on the phone, hoping it isn't the evil bitch.

Basil and Mel follow my gaze, "so how do you feel about your first hostile interview with the press today?" Basil sipping his beer asks casually.

Widening my eyes in horror, "gosh, I should have listen to Gerard, but that reporter, was sent out, just for my ass."
