Chapter One Hundred and Sixteen - Where's Adian?

Adian and Basil still hasn't returned by the time we were leaving, so Gerard took us home, with only one stop, to the supermarket.

Mel chuckles eying my grocery cart, "you love grocery shopping, don't you?" she commented and I frown at the cart that's filled of snacks, drinks and pastries.

Standing in line at the checkout counter, my mind started reflecting on the days mom and I went to the supermarket.

Smiling, I nod, "it's one of my favourite memories I had with mom." I responded softly, looking up not missing the concern look that passed between her and Gerard.

"Is it too much?" I wonder because I bought for everyone and added some items for nanny Pierce, but didn't say anything about visiting her today!

Laughing at my expression, "Hailey, I'm observing that you only shop at supermarkets, but I've yet to see you drag me to the mall for lingerie, outfits and you know, girly stuff." she smiles and I nod, agreeing with her.

Turning to Gerard, "you free this Saturday?" I chuckle, "we're going shopping at the mall for girly stuff!" I said excitedly, laughing at Gerard's petrified expression. "It won't be bad, just a few hours, I promise you." I pushed the trolley forward, digging into my purse for my wallet, while Mel empties the cart.

Gerard leans closer to Mel and whispers in her ear. Observing them I realize that we are being watched again.

After we're done paying, between the three of us, we carried the bags ourselves. Gerard carrying two bags in one hand, and the SUV keys in the other. With his sunglasses on, I know he's observing our surroundings.

Walking with my head held high, I met Mel's curious expression, raising an eyebrow, to the right of me. Keeping my eyes glued to my left, I smile nervously when I started hearing the constant click of cameras and flashbulbs.

"Where's the new husband?" A male reporter shouted. "He's moved on already!" He continue to shout. "How come he's never with you?" He shouts out. "I know where he is, do you?" He continues to provoke me.

"Don't look back, just ignore them." Gerard advises me and this time I decide to listen.

Gerard unlocks the backdoor for me and I moved aside for Mel to get in, before I place the bags I carried between us, in the backseat.

I followed Mel inside, with Gerard trying to block me, but the cameras continued to click, when my short dress rode up, exposing my legs.

Darn!

Gerard decided to take us directly home against my will and I'm so f****** angry, because this is another day that I have to put off visiting nanny Pierce.

"Have you heard from Basil?" I asked Mel, who seemed surprise at my question.

Looking at me confused, "you haven't heard from Adian?" Mel asks, but Adian and I are not in that place where we call to find out each other whereabouts. It's not that I don't want to know, but I'm afraid that he'll find me clingy.

Embarrassed, I smiled and turned away, "it doesn't matter" I shrug, pretending that I'm not bothered, that Adian didn't reach out to me, like Basil did with Mel.

Deciding not to dwell on irrelevant things, I decided to make a quick stop to nanny Pierce.

"Gerard, "I already put it off yesterday and I really need to return to my old apartment to collect some important documents." I lied, trying to feign innocence.

Tilting his head sideways, Gerard stares at me in the rearview mirror and shrugged his shoulders, "you're the boss" he reluctantly agrees to make the stop, turning to focus on the road.

Laughing beside me, "that she is." Mel told Gerard, who ignored her.

I sorted out the items that I bought for nanny Pierce to take up for her.

When we arrived, Gerard drove into the private carpark, despite my objections.

Stepping out of the vehicle, to accompany me, "You don't have too, you know" I tell him and again he ignores me and turns to Mel. "You coming or you staying here on your own?" Gerard asks Mel, opening the door for me.

Unwilling to leave Mel alone downstairs, "come on" I invited her climbing out of the vehicle with the two bags of groceries I made for nanny Pierce and Mel climbs out the other end. On our way to the elevator, Gerard stops staring to the back of the carpark, frowning.

Following his gaze, "what is it?" I glance at him and where he was watching.

Turing to me with concern, "Adian's mother is here." He informs me looking disturbed.

Also concern about Ameila being in my apartment, I turned and continued walking towards the lift, preparing myself mentally for any confrontation with her, since the last time we saw each other, we were sworn enemies.

Placing my bag on the floor, I dug through my bag and took out the gift box with my mother's charm bracelet. Handing bracelet to Mel, "can you help me clasp this?" I stretched out my left hand, with my wedding band.

Admiring the bracelet, while adjusting it on my wrist, "this is beautiful Hailey," Mel says complementing me, while Gerard, types away on his phone and I assume that he is informing his boss about our whereabouts.

As soon as the elevator door opened, "don't leave me alone with her please," I told Mel and Gerard.

Laughing dryly, "I can't even if I want to." Gerard confirms, while I dug into my handbag once again for a bunch of keys I haven't use in a long time.

Opening the door, Gerard preceded Mel and I into the apartment and hearing the door opening and closing, nanny Pierce was already walking towards us.

"Hailey" nanny Pierce, greeted me, walking towards me, her hand outstretch to hug me when Gerard stepped in front of her.

Shaking my head, I moved around Gerard to hug her.
