Chapter One Hundred and Twenty Five- First Meeting

I know that I contradicted Adian in front his friends and workers, but the people I love are being hurt and I can't risk something happening to him because of me. He needs to be protected just as me.

Would he understand? Would he blame me when I inform the FBI of my findings concerning my mother's death?

Opening my phone, with a heavy heart, sending a quick text.

'I'M SORRY FOR OPPOSING YOU IN FRONT OF YOUR WORKERS' and send.

He's in a meeting, so I'm not waiting for a response.

Hearing a ping I opened my phone and smiled, when I see a beautiful, red heart.

Smiling happily, clutching the phone to my chest.

"I won't advise that you know" Basil says from across the room.

Unaware of what he's talking about, I turned confused in his direction.

"What?" I mouthed softly!

Pressing his hands to his chest, "radiation" he points to my hands, where I still clutched the phone and I quickly dropped my hands, with Basil chuckling softly.

Glaring at him, I turned my attention to Caleb, whose on my chair, impatiently tapping his pen against his temple.

Embarrass that he's here to work and I'm lost in my own bubble!

"Sorry" I laughed, nervously, suddenly intimidated by this version of Caleb. The efficient and reliable Caleb.

The chuckling across the room distracted me for a brief second, but I kept my eyes on Caleb when I notice the glare fired across to Basil.

Standing beside my desk, I listened and scribbled down footnotes according to what Caleb was sharing about a potential client and having me take this meeting is an advantage because I am also new to this level that Adian has thrown me into.

Smiling, because I knew that Caleb would be on my side, I strode confidently into the conference room with Caleb and Basil, following behind us.

After more than an hour, I was exhausted! This meeting, was suppose to be less than thirty minutes. I saw Caleb clenched fists on many occasions and eventually he scribbled down a message and I ended up closing the meeting without bringing the client on board.

"Mrs. Knights," Mr. Shaw, stood to shake my hand and I felt Basil sit up. "it's been a pleasure meeting you and I understand that you need to read through the numbers and discuss it with your board, but if there's any questions, please feel free to call me," he says, still holding my hand and I suddenly felt his thumb caressing my hand, making me want to puke.

Nodding my head, politely, while all I wanted to do was slap him, "yes, I will forward these documents to my husband and he will contact you." I responded through clenched teeth, dragging my hand out of his hold.

I need a sanitizer!

Suddenly Mr. Shaw started speaking again, "maybe you would like to join me for" he paused and looked at his watch, "a late lunch" he chuckles.

I quickly turned to Caleb, "are you ready for the second meeting?" I feigned in front of Mr. Shaw. Caleb caught on and nodded, pissed.

Mr. Shaw, gathered his files and pulled out a card, scribbling on it before handing it over to me.

"This is my personal number, I hope that you use it" he paused giving me seductive smile, "sometime." he finishes. Staring at the card, contemplating if I should even take it for manners sake, but before I could reach for it, Basil reached across and swiped it from his hand, nodding politely and like Caleb, he was pissed.

Smiling, apologetically, "maybe some other time." I told him, knowing that'll never happen.

Nodding to Basil and Caleb, Mr. Shaw reaches for my hand again and I am obligated to shake his hand, but this time he kissed it.

Instinctively, I pulled my hand away. This is, too much.

Basil, leaned closer, to Mr. Shaw, "I show you out now." Basil continued with his polite tone, "Mrs. Knight has another meeting to attend." Basil, picks up his files, ushering him out.

As the door shut behind him, "eww, I need sanitizer and soap" I groaned to Caleb.

Chuckling mockingly, he reaches into this binder and pulls out a pack of antibacterial wipes and hands it to me, "never come to meetings without this baby." He pulls out more than one, "I hope Basil, kicks his arse all the way down to the lobby" he commented absently, picking up the files and nods to the door.

"Basil" I remembered, "he might come back here to meet us." I reminded Caleb.

We sat down to wait for Basil. "I was suppose to go shopping for a dress for tonight but now it's too late." I sighed, mentally picturing my limited wardrobe, wondering what I can wear.

That perked Caleb's interest, "did you say shopping" he turned in my direction. "Honey, it's never too late to go shopping and we are entitled to lunch." Caleb stood up and open the door. "Send Basil a message and lets go." He says, when he didn't see Basil and I was skeptical about leaving without him, but I messaged him.

Without waiting for Basil, Caleb and I were walking down the corridor towards my office when I literally bumped into Adian's ex.

She charged up to me, but Caleb stepped in front of me and she hit his chest instead.

Eyeing her mockingly, "did you really do that?" He mocked, enraging her more.

Glaring at me, "you won't always be protected" she threatens and I was tempted to step in front of Caleb, but maybe that is what she wants, to openly pick a fight in my work place

"Ms. Thomas, you're in the wrong building, this isn't Knights Foundation! Please remove yourself from my building, before I have security do it for me!" I warned and pulled out my phone, calling Basil.

"Hailey" he quickly answers, "I got your message and I am at your office, where are you?" He asks quickly.

"Mr. Gomez girlfriend is here and she's high on something" I responded and just as quickly, he answers.

"I'm on my way!" He says and hangs up.
