SLAM!

I jumped while washing my hands, when I heard my office door slam shut!

What now! Sighing I closed off the tap to open the door, when I heard Amelia shout out loud!

"Where are you? I'm going to destroy you!" She shouted and I could hear a pin drop in the silence that followed.

With my hand on the door knob ready to turn it, I felt my phone vibe. Opening it, I saw a text from Adian.

Adian: STAY IN THERE

Me: why???

Adian: PLEASE

I didn't respond, but Adian is the one who doesn't want me running and now he's encouraging me to hide? Darn him!

Other than the text, the office remained silent, after Amelia's intrusion.

"Where is she?" I heard Amelia asked in a softer tone, when she realized that Adian was in my office with his employees.

"Much better" I heard Adian respond tersely, pausing, "now tell me, in more dignified tone, what's your problem?" He continued and I turned to take a seat on the toilet seat. Taking out my phone to message Mel because the office is quiet and Adian hasn't given me the signal to come out yet.

Me: "wat??"

Mel quickly responds with a angry bull emoji.

I fought the impulse to laugh out loud!

Me: "call me and put me on speaker" I need to know what I did to upset the precious Queen of Knights.

I accepted the call from Mel, but still had to strain my ear to hear the conversation between Amelia and her son.

"She had no right to carry news to you about your sister." She was saying. "You have allowed that girl to break you and your sister's relationship and yours and mine relationship" I heard Amelia speaking softer, but the anger was still evident in her tone.

Adian chuckles dryly, "the only person messing with Chubbs and my relationship, is you" I gasp, when I heard Adian's response.

"What are you even talking" Amelia was saying, but was cut off by her son.

"My wife" I heard Adian stressed, "hasn't uttered a word against Chubbs. Whatever happened between Chubbs and I this morning, happened because of the disrespectful comments she made and I will not tolerate Chubb's spewing the venom that's in your mouth about my wife to me!" Adian snapped and I hope he doesn't explode.

I heard Amelia make a huffing sound, before she responded to Adian's response.

"Well, I can see you are clearly spewing the venom out of her mouth" Amelia accused her son, but she clearly wasn't done yet. "You never had any backbone, just one piece of p***y and your brain starts malfunctioning" I gasped and instantly covered my mouth, hoping no one heard me, as Amelia's insults her son.

When Adian didn't respond, Amelia used that as encouragement to continue bashing him.

"She'll leave you when she's done using you and like the pathetic boy you are, you'll come running to cry on mummy's shoulders" I heard her sneer and I considered that to be enough.

Shutting off my phone, I exited the washroom calmly as if I'm unaware of the tension in the room.

My eyes made immediate contact with Adian's and by stiffness with which he was standing and the darkness in his eyes, I knew that Amelia's goading was working.

Smiling, I walked over to my desk, where he was standing and held one of his tightly clenched fists, pushing my fingers to prized open his fingers.

Chuckling dryly, Amelia turned on me and I'm so f***king ready for my father's slut, hoping that she's ready for me.

"You're done hiding and came to support your husband?" She mocks, her blue eyes, travelling over me with scorn.

Feigning ignorance about what I walked into, "I'm sorry, what?" I asked and points to the washroom chuckling. "Bad bathroom habits" I excused myself for being in the washroom too long.

Looking around the room at the seriously tensed faces around, I looked up to Adian. "What's going on?" I asked. unable to bear seeing my husband's demeanor after his mother bashed him in and tries to lower his self esteem.

Turning to Mel, I raised an eyebrow, silently questioning her and thanking Mel for understanding my silent message.

Smiling, "I think, I heard your mother-in-law accusing" Mel points at Amelia, who now turned to glare at her. "Your husband of being, uh. what's the word again??" Mel taps her chin as she pretends to be thinking. "Oh, yeah! She said you've got him p***y whip and that, you'll dump his ass when you're done with him." Mel chuckles as Basil walks over to push her backwards, trying to shut her up.

Adian's fists felt tighter as he used all his muscles to control his anger.

Not today bitch! I observed her calmly, breathing smoke on the inside.

Chuckling dryly, "I think you're confusing my husband, with my f**king father and you're confusing me with the whores who opened their legs for him to f*** them!" I smiled watching her color changed from, angry red to pale white in an instant.

I felt Adian's fist opens as he entwines our fingers and I smiled, because I know he's not angry.

Amelia's face, went from pale white to angry red once again, her pink lips twisted spitting venom at me now.

"You wretched child, you are just as pathetic as your mother" she snickers I could feel my heart closing up inside, but I kept my signature smile in place determined that she and no one, will ever break me.

"My mother wasn't pathetic" I said with a calm that I didn't feel. "She simply loved and trusted the wrong man." I continued, as Adian's fingers tightens, assuring me that he's here with me, for me.

Amelia's hatred was evident, by her words and attitude but her eyes. Her eyes, reflected fear!

"What are you so afraid of?" I mocked her.
