Chapter One Hundred and Forty One - Conversations?

After I was able to convince Adian and everyone else that I'm not going to break again, Gerard reluctantly left for the evening, leaving extra invisible security, around the building.

Mel's dinner looks and smells delicious, but I couldn't appreciate it because of this nagging fear, imbedded in me.

I got up to leave, but Adian stopped me. "You haven't finished eating," he scolded me as if I am a child. In essence, I'm constantly behaving like one, when things that scare me, come back to haunt me, I have panic attacks, I run, making me a weak coward, pretending to have it all together.

Ignoring him, he grabbed my arm as I tried to move past him.

Twisting my arm to loosen it from his grasp, "I have to call sister Ally" I explained and he nods in understanding. but stood up to make me sit back down, as I look to see Mel and Basil looking at our little display.

"I already call her and I also called the cops. I already have securities at the home guarding her" Adian smile softly as he updates me on all the steps he's already taken to make sure Emmy's safe, since seeing the pictures.

Looking down at my plate, I started picking at the potatoes, which eventually led to me finishing my dinner, much to Mel's satisfaction.

Mel and Basil again decline my help with the cleaning up and it annoyed me, because in Adian's home, he was the boss but this is my home and I want everything, spic and span, otherwise my blood will just crawl, in disgust.

With my hands on my hips, a position which unknowingly lifted breasts, I glared at them, "anything out of place or even a water stain visible anywhere and you're both off kitchen duties." I warned, but they just laughed at me.

"How is it that you were never this bossy at Adian's home?" Mel chuckles turning to put the empty dishes in the sink.

Before I thought about the question or even the answer thought, "because that's Adian's home, Adian's kitchen. but this there." I paused to emphasise, "is my domain." I retorted, to which Mel and Basil both turned to stare at me. Mel in surprise and Basil, raised his eyebrows with a smirk.

The clearing of a throat signals that Adian was right behind me, "is that how you feel?" He ask, also wearing the same surprise look that Mel had.

Nodding, "yup," I walked toward the refrigerator and took out a bottle of wine and smiled, because I intend to have a good night sleep.

Adian pushed the door shut and I stood in front of him as he stares at me with an unreadable expression.

"Why would you think that?" He ask still surprised and I am also surprise that he doesn't remember that first day when he took me to his apartment.

Again I nod, "have you forgotten when I first moved into your apartment?" I asked watching as his eyes confirms that he suddenly remembers that first day, when I forced myself into this home.

Opening back the refrigerator, Adian takes out two beers and reaches for two clean wine glasses, before turning to our audience. "Make sure there are no water stains, anywhere, when you're done." he smirks at Basil's expression, then nods for me to follow him out of the kitchen, opening the veranda doors, outside of the living room.

I quickly took a seat on the single couch, leaving the double couch for Adian and the three-seater, for Mel and Basil, if they joins us.

Adian stares at the two-seater and looks at where I am already sitting with my feet curled up, beneath me.

Shrugging his shoulders, he sat down and quickly opened a beer, wiping the top before taking a huge gulp.

"We need to talk" was the first thing he says, wiping his mouth with his hand. I didn't answer, I just nod in agreement, because we need to talk, but what about?

Realizing that I was waiting for him, he seemed nervous, staring downwards, "from what you said yesterday, at the office, I figured out something and it blew me away." Adian started and I was surprised and totally blown away, because discussing what I bravely threw at his mother is not something I hope to discuss anytime soon.

Again my silence compelled him to continue, "if your mother didn't just fall, but was pushed, then I have a gut feeling that the faceless woman, at the top of the stairs is the person who pushed her." Adian looks intently at me waiting for me to continue, but the shock of his assumption had me frozen. This time as much as I wanted to, I couldn't open my mouth.

Instead, I opened the wine bottle that I still held on my legs, the coldness from the bottle, biting, but my numb legs couldn't feel it.

I refused the wine glass from Adian and wiped the head of the bottle, then started taking, not light sips, but huge gulps. When I didn't stop, Adian gently took the bottle away from my mouth.

Frowning at him stooping in front of me, "that's not fair," I pouted, my soft head, getting lighter with the wine, I started drinking.

Tilting his head towards the inside of the house, "do you want to go watch a movie and continue this conversation tomorrow?" Adian asks and I nod, then just as quickly shook my head. I know I have to talk to him but now, I am so afraid of his reaction, but from what he said, he knows more than he is letting on.

I said the first thing that flew through my head, "I'm sorry for being such a girl" I apologize for the weakling that I am.

Adian frowned, then starts chuckling softly, dragging me roughly out of the chair I occupied and pulling me unto the double-seater he occupied.
