Chapter One Hundred and Fifty Five - Coffee Ban & Nightmare?

I didn't get any sleep because Adian kept me on the phone until his aunt relieved at the hospital.

Thankfully, Mel and Basil made breakfast while I was face down in the toilet bowl. A position my husband found me in, after returning home.

My face crumpled after seeing his disgusted expression, which quickly changes, to one of concern, when he saw me on the bathroom floor.

"Hailey, what's wrong?" He rushed on, joining me on the floor, caressing my back.

Pitying myself, I allowed the tears to flow, "I think the pancakes Basil made were a bad batch." I whinned. "I vomited it all away." I continued, feeling the way Emmy probably feels when she complains to me about her bad tummy ache.

My eyes brightened at the thought of Emmy. "Can I visit Emmy today?" I asked, my husband who spaced out thoughtfully at the mention of Emmy's name.

Without answering, Adian nods, before slowly getting to his feet, stretching a hand down to help me up.

Adian was surprisingly quiet while we prepared for another workday without Jerry at the helm of my department.

We were standing around the kitchen island chatting about Adian's experience at the hospital, the worst part was hearing about the horrible nurse who was hitting on my husband.

"So, if you're staying tonight, then one of the guys stays with you or, you're stuck with me" I said, sounding like a jealous wife.

More like an irritated wife, I thought to myself while I poured a cup of coffee, hoping it helps the churning in my stomach.

Suddenly the coffee pot and coffee mug was being taken from my hands.

"Oh no you don't!" Adian said from behind me and I look up at him confused, then back at the coffee, ready to yank it out if his hand.

"Why?" I groaned, tired from insufficient sleep and restless because I can't recall all of dreams and the bits and pieces I do remember, makes no sense.

Placing a hand gently on my tummy, "it's not healthy for junior here," he whispers softly, but I frowned, because that's the first thing I checked on last night!

It's safe!

Shaking my head ready to fight for my rights to have my most favorite thing to drink on planet earth.

Reaching up, I made a grab for the coffee mug, but anticipating my move, he stretched out his hand and Basil takes the cup from his hand.

With hands on my hips, I glared around the room at everyone who looks on in amusement.

Huffing, I went back upstairs to finish dressing, taking Adian's wallet and phone before joining them in the kitchen.

Mel meets me and hands me a cup and I smiled happily until I tasted, chocolate tea. My second favourite tea, which is better served at night.

"Thank you" I say to Mel turning on Adian who sat sipping my coffee.

With a sad jealous expression, I stare at the cup that's against his lips.

"I'm ready" I spun around to Gerard and turned to Mel, who nods in agreement.

Adian stood up, "yeah you guys go ahead, Bas and I will follow behind. I need to make a quick stop at the hospital." Adian comes to hug me.

Still angry and without my caffeine, I felt edgy. "Need to see your nurse, again?" I couldn't help but snide.

With a light chuckle, he looks down at me, "I know it's the lack of caffeine talking." Adian says, hugging me tightly.

Lifting my face, he leans down and plants a very short and intense kiss on my lips.

Basil hugs Mel before we walk down the long hallway.

"NO STOPS GER" Adian shouts behind us and I slap Mel on the shoulder leading the way out of apartment, as she starts giggling.

I got one up on them, because Caleb will be getting my coffee and leaving it in the kitchen away from curious eyes.

Sipping my chocolate tea, Mel and I engaged in some idle chatter, while I try to tax my brain to remember my dream last night. One thing I am sure of is that it had to do with my dad. He was there in my dream and I have to find out what it was about and why it's a hidden secret.

I only started concentrating on Mel and Gerard's conversation, when I heard Mel ask if Gerard saw the nurse that was hitting on Adian last night.

Shaking his head, I met Gerard's eyes in the rearview mirror.

"Uh, no!" Gerard responds and I wonder if he is just saying that for my benefit. "I heard Jerry mentioning to Adian that there was a time he would have gone for the girl, but now he's changed and changed for the better." Gerard continues and despite what he said, I still don't feel good about Adian's past. A past I promised not to look back on.

Shrugging I clumped back in my seat, confident that I will get back my mojo, after I've had my coffee.

I jumped when my handbag vibe. Pulling out my phone, I felt the vibe again and reached again, pulling out Adian's phone.

"Oh my." I said softly and stared at the caller ID, suddenly afraid when I saw 'mom' lightening up on his phone.

"Aren't you going to answer it?" Mel nudges me on the side and I lifted my eyes to meet hers. "What?" Mel asks, her expression goes softer, noticing my discomfort.

The phone stops and just as suddenly starts vibing again.

"It's Amelia." I told Mel, meeting Gerard's eyes in the mirror once again.

Nodding at me, "answer it," he suggested and I frowned, although I knew, he won't steer me in the wrong direction.

Before the phone stops ringing, "hello" I answered with all the confidence I could muster.

"What the hell are you doing answering my son's phone?" Amelia shouted.

"My husband's phone" I retorted angrily.
