I remained silent after rejoining Ameila and Adian's ex-girlfriend, Samantha at the table, frustrated at Caleb's silence, also deciding to hear what else Ameila has in store for me.
As I passed the security's table, I gave him a bright smile when I saw pity in his eyes, aware that he overheard the conversation between Ameila and I.
"So" Ameila started and this time, without her fake friendliness from earlier, her her cold to match her tone. "Your panic attack didn't last long this time, did it?" Ameila mocks dryly. "Didn't I tell you Samantha," She continued turning to address Samantha who now lifted her eyes to face me with a challenging look. "She went into the bathroom, to breathe?" Ameila snickers and Samantha chuckles at Ameila words.
Taken aback at the nervous fragile woman from earlier, my smile slowly left my face and my eyes. I was willing to work out this situation with Samantha and Adian, but now, with the change in her attitude, what am I to do?
Ameila seemed to have had a pep talk with her and I know the security will fill me in on what I missed but one thing I realize now, is that they are both on the same page and conspiring to destroy me
One thing I've got on them though is that I am pregnant with Adian's baby and as his wife, I have the upper hand, so whatever they hope to achieve by ambushing me with Samantha's pregnancy, will not be successful.
"Show her" Ameila commands Samantha, encouraging her to show me whatever she deems important to hurt me.
Samantha opens a black handbag that is partially hidden behind the table, as I now start wondering how far along she is and how am I not hysterical. Can I pretend that I am not heartbroken right now?
I did promise myself to be strong despite what Ameila will throw at me and so far I have been showing strength on the outside, unable to hold it together for much longer, on the inside.
I turned to face a now, smug looking Samantha who placed a few pieces of paper in front of me, but I averted my eyes from hers to Ameila's, without giving the papers a first look.
"Look at it!" Ameila raised her voice at me when I didn't look at what Samantha placed in front of me and because Ameila was starting to get angry, I decided to antagonize her more, by refusing to be player in their game.
When I still didn't look at what Samantha placed in front of me, Ameila spoke again through gritted teeth.
"Tell her!" She demanded in a harsh tone to Samantha.
With my eyes still on Ameila, all I saw was the murderess who pushed my mother down the steps resulting in the death of my mother and my baby brother and there is nothing she can do or say to make matters better.
Whatever part Samantha played in Adian's past, I am still determined, that nothing will changed between Adian and I.
"This" Samantha started, but her voice was cracking up. "This" she started again, but I kept my eyes on the witch, who is my mother-in-law as her eyes go between Samantha and I.
Ameila eyes hardened, finally stopping on me, "she's speaking to you," Ameila lips curled in disgust as she spoke to me, but I continued staring at her with expressionless eyes, unwilling to hear more, but trapped.
"Uh, these here," Samantha stared again, then her voice trailed off, but she starts again, but her voice firmer.
"These here are the receipts for my rent which Adain still pays for me." Samantha says and I finally shifted my eyes to the back of the security's head.
I am so done here!
Without looking at Samantha or Ameila, I stood up and lifted my handbag of the table, opening it and taking out one hundred dollars and placed in the the table, sliding it across to Ameila.
"Since I didn't have the lunch you ordered, this is my tip for the waitress and you can take the lunch home with you if the waitress ever returns with it." I said moving behind the chair to push it in, ready to take my leave from these horrible women.
"You should go home and start your packing because Samantha would be moving in immediately" Ameila advised me and as much as I wanted to break, I refuse to do so in front of them. "Adian will never choose you over his child. " She chuckles and my hand instinctively went to my stomach and with a sad smile, I nod because I know Adian will never let his child and I go, but I can't expect him to give up on his child with Samantha, either.
Unable to think further until I speak to Adian, "she can move in with you, in the meantime since you're so excited to finally be having a grandchild, or Adain and I will continue to pay her rent." I smile, hoping that I am as confident as I sound.
Ameila was surprise by my response by the way she exchanged looks with Samantha. If she expects me to break, then she will be disappointed, this time.
Chuckling softly as I adjusted my handbag, to take out more money for the security to pay for our lunches.
"Adana would be so happy to have you close by, I must mention it to Adian," I continue smiling at Samantha. "I suggest you head home after lunch and I'm sure you and Ameila can get a head start in packing so Adian can get a transport to help you move." I said, tilting my head to the side staring at their confusion.
Leaving her with that, I smiled at a confused Samantha and walked out of the restaurant, leaving a some bills on the security's table for him to settle his bill.
"Time to leave!"
