Chapter One Hundred and Eighty Four - Conversation on the Road's

Hailey, Emmy and I left for another one of my stops, after I had a quick conference call, which Caleb and Mel were hosting at my office.

I was anxious to visit my sister, whom I haven't seen in a long time. I need for us to make amends with Hailey being pregnant.

I haven't told Hailey where our next stop is at because she is busy catching up with Emmy.

Chubbs needs to be a part of my child's life and she also needs to be a part of her sister's life, but I can't disclose the truth to her or Hailey, until we find their father.

F**king David Sullivan!

"You okay?" Hailey asks, leaning from the backseat where Emmy insists Hailey sits with her. Placing a hand on my shoulder, Hailey gently starts to massage one side of my neck and shoulder.

Unaware, I was gripping the steering wheel tightly, "I am now" I responded, huskily, meeting her gaze in the rearview mirror.

Smiling on the outside, but her eyes masked with concern, "you won't tell me would you?" She asks pouting.

Looking away from her eyes, I focused on the road.

"We're going to meet Chubbs" I said, keeping my eyes ahead of me.

Hailey stopped massaging my neck, but she didn't remove her hand.

Taking a chance, I lifted my gaze to her, smiling at her, slightly opened mouth, her eyes cast downwards.

"Does she know I'm coming along?" Hailey enquired softly and I looked away with a guilty expression.

"Actually, she isn't expecting anyone of us," I said, reverting my eyes from the road to her face once again.

Releasing me, she sits back against the seat where I can see her facial expression as it changes.

"We don't have to go right now, I'll call her driver and arrange for another time." I decided as I start dialing dad's driver, whose assign to pick her up today.

Laughing softly, "no it's okay, I don't mind" Hailey smiles and I know she's being honest, because despite everything that's happened, Hailey forgive easily and she still cares for Chubbs.

I realized I was ambushing Hailey by orchestrating a meeting between my sister and my wife.

What the f**k am I thinking?

I immediately started punching in dad's driver's number, with Hailey leaning over my shoulder observing me.

"Who are you calling?" She ask quietly as if she already suspects what I am up to.

Taking a deep breath as I await dad's driver to answer me.

Annoyed that Carlvin hasn't answered me, "I was canceling picking up Chubbs," I explained to Hailey.

Chuckling, she starts running her fingers through my already untidy hair, "I already figured that out and I already told you, Adana and I have to start somewhere and today is as good as any." She explains, but I still couldn't grasp how easily Hailey, forgive the mean things that she said about her when I was dealing with the alcohol poisoning from my mother and that horrible bitch.

"Are you sure?" I asked quickly as I turned into the lane that leads to Chubbs private school, a school she is attending because of Hailey and I.

Mom already f*^ked up, but why does she persist on carrying it on as if no one knows? After her confrontation with Hailey at her office, she was given notice, that Hailey knows more than mom is giving her credit for and still she continues to play her games of manipulation.

Lost in thoughts, I pulled into the car park of the private Academy Chubbs attend, staring through the rearview mirror at Hailey and Emmy sitting quietly in the back seat.

"Hey kiddo," I turned around to Emmy, as she quietly looks between Hailey and I.

Hailey nudges Emmy, "Adian's speaking to you," she whispers to Emmy.

"You want to take a walk with Hailey and I?" I asked her gently, hoping she doesn't fear the tense atmosphere between Hailey and I.

Looking up at Hailey, "are you coming with us?" Emmy cautiously asks Hailey.

Smiling down at Emmy, "of course sweetie," Hailey assures Emmy, "why are you asking?" Hailey responds softly to Emmy's question.

Nodding slowly, her eyes lacking the excitement she normally displays, Emmy agrees to go for a walk with us.

I know Emmy has been through what no child should ever go through and from now on I am the one's whose responsible for reassuring her, that everything will always be okay.

"What's wrong sweetheart?" I asked Emmy, when I went around to help her out of the car.

Looking between Hailey and I, her eyes glossy with fear, "are you and Hailey going to fight, like mommy and Ellis?" Emmy asked hesitanty and I quickly looked at Hailey, who pulled Emmy's shoulder backwards.

"Hey, hey," Hailey spun her around to face her, "Adian and I are not fighting" Hailey explains, palming Emmy's small cheeks. "and we won't, ever" Hailey assures Emmy, who nods, but still looks doubtful.

Hailey kisses her on the forehead, before allowing me to speak.

"You know I love your right?" I asked Emmy staring in her eyes and making sure she looks at me. "I love you and I love Hailey. Even if Hailey gets angry with me, we still love you and still love each other." I tried explaining and deep inside, I hope that she understand how I feel or what I am trying to express, even if I myself, don't understand.

"Plus" I look across and winks at Hailey, "you know if Hailey and I were to fight, she would totally kick my ass, right?" I chuckle at her eyes, that's open wide in surprise.

"Really Adian? Ass?" Hailey raised her eyebrows at me, with a disappointed smirk.

Emmy turned innocent eyes up to Hailey, "but you said ass too," she reminded Hailey, who looked on horrified as I burst into laughter.

"Yes, Hailey you said the A word too" I mocked Hailey, as she ignores me and turn her attention to Emmy.

"Sweetie never ever repeat that word again, okay?" Hailey says softly to Emmy, who frowns at me.

Emmy's lips turned down sadly, "would the lady with the hammer take me away from you?" Emmy asks sadly and I shook my head slowly, hoping Hailey doesn't pick up on Emmy's question.
