Chapter One Hundred and Eighty Seven- Melting Adana

Emmy monopolized the entire conversation at the table, making a mess as she went along, but because she was across from me, I had to constantly be leaning across the table to wipe her mouth and fingers.

With a look of annoyance I turned to Adian, "really?" I asked. "So much ice cream?" I shook my head, focusing on my ice cream, which wasn't my favourites at all. They were all Emmy's favourite, something Adian only realized when he was done paying for the orders.

Adian kept feeding me his, coconut flavour as I continue to slurp small bits of the one he bought for me.

While I ate, I listen intently as Emmy shared her short life experience so far with a still sullen Adana, but now, she actually seem to be interested in what Emmy was saying by her action and the expression of her eyes.

Adana learned what it was like through Emmy, how to share a room with seven other girls and everything is done as if you're out camping.

I met Adana's eyes more than once now and it's no longer hostile, but she is definitely curious.

I'm not sure, if it's because of Emmy or the bombshell I just dropped on her.

Since I was eating more of Adian's ice cream, he pushed it across to me and stated eating mines.

"Thank you" I smiled at him and my reward was a quick kiss and a hug around my shoulder.

As I was about to once again, lean over to wipe Emmy's mouth, when Adana beat me to it and she wiped Emmy's face and fingers clean, before Emmy resumed eating her half container of ice cream.

I can't believe Adian didn't realize how much Emmy was ordering and even the sales girl could have explained, that Emmy's order was too much for a little girl.

"We need more napkins," I turned to Adian, hitting him slightly with my elbow.

Giving me a bland stare as if he didn't understand what I was saying.

Lifting my eyebrows, "napkins to clean Emmy up" I explained and looking across at Emmy, he starts laughing.

"Okay," he agreed, sliding out of the seat to stand up.

Emmy starts laughing, "the girl who did her eyes" Emmy laughs at Adian, trying to show him a wink, "is going to do that again when you go there." Emmy says turning around and points at the counter.

My eyes widen in surprise, while Adian seemed embarrassed for a second before speaking to Emmy, "would you like to go with me then?" He asks and she's already moving to get off her seat, excitedly.

With her dirty hands raised, "yes, yes, yes" she chants happily.

"I'll take her," Adana suddenly says, following Adana out of the seat, surprising both Adian and I.

I quickly looked away, "uh yeah sure," Adian agreed, "and bring something to wipe the table." He adds as Adana leads Emmy towards the counter, her mouth dripping with brown, green, orange, yellow and pink, all of the flavors Emmy ordered for herself and me.

Using my napkin, I started wiping the table where Emmy made her mess, when an attendant approached our table.

"Allow me" she says softly.

I raised my head to see a slim young woman smiling down at my husband, wiping the table in front of him.

Opposite him, the part of the table that was actually dirty, she ignored, continuing to shine the area in front of Adain.

I felt Adian's eyes on me, but I kept my eyes on her, while with her eyes on my husband, she kept shinning the table.

Annoyed at her attitude, "would you like us to move?" I asked firmly.

Lifting her head in surprise, as if she only now realized I was sitting right beside my husband, our close proximity making us look like siamese twin,

"Huh?" She responds, confused, her eyes reverting from me, back to Adian.

Getting upset now, "would you like us to change table, since you seem to be cleaning up?" I asked again, my tone a bit more controlling.

Smiling at me with a smug look, "the little girl there" she points at Emmy and Adana who was returning to the table, "needed the table clean up, so that's what I am doing, my job" she huffs with an attitude, which annoyed me more.

I turned to my husband whose watching me with a mischievous smirk.

"Then please do your job" I said sarcastically, pointing to where Emmy was sitting, opposite Adian, which was sticky and dirty. "My husband can already see his reflection from his side." I informed her, as Adana sends a clean Emmy into the booth, before sliding in beside her.

Ignoring the attendant, I turned to Emmy, chucking softly, "wow, I can see your pretty face again." I tell Emmy.

Pointing to Adana, Emmy laughs, "Dana said napkins can't help me, so she took me to the bathroom." Emmy giggles and as I turned to thank Adana, I see her smiling at a happy Emmy.

"Thank you for cleaning her up," I said to Adana, as she quickly looks away from Emmy keeping her eyes downwards, she nodded, shifting back for the attendant to do her job.

Feeling Adian's hand on my lower waist. I turned to smile at him and laughs out as he nods at the attendant who was busy doing her job.

"Are you done?" The attendant, asks abruptly in a soft tone.

All of the ice cream at the table were melted, so I nod to Adian.

"Yes, thank you, we're done." Adian responds smoothly,

Taking up all four cups, the attendant walks to a nearby bin to dump them, before returning to wipe the table one more time.

I opened my handbag and slid twenty dollars across to Emmy.

"Thank the nice lady for cleaning up all your mess." I told her and as always when we dined together, I always leave the tipping to her.

Stretching the bill out to the attendant, "I'm sorry for dirtying the table, but Adian bought me too much ice cream." Emmy said with wide innocent eyes, while Adian started at her in shock and I started laughing because I knew Emmy made her choice and Adian simply obliged.

"Emmy that's not true, you chose all of that," Adian defended himself, flushed with embrassament.

Shaking her head, I knew Adian was definitely going to lose this round.

"You asked me what flavors I liked and I told you," Emmy explains to shock Adian.
