Chapter Two Hundred and Twenty One - To Fragile for the Truth?

Mr. Gussippie inhaled sharply at my question while Ryan got up and walked out of the room, his hands behind his head, muttering incoherently, a brooding expression on his tired face!

Adian was the only one in control and unfazed by my question, although he seemed reluctant to enlighten me.

"She doesn't know?" Mr. Gussippie asks softly, his expression softening for the first time since coming into the room, his eyes full of compassion when he looks at me.

Adian pulls me into his arms, "she didn't know he was alive until she saw him on television, outside the courthouse." Adian explains to a stunned Mr. Gussippie.

Mr. Gussippie stood up and started pacing, holding his forehead between his thumb and index finger.

"Why wasn't I told of this?" He asks, as he paces. "Why didn't Sullivan inform me about this?" Mr. Gussippie continues to pace speaking to himself.

Hugging me tighter, "Hailey wasn't well for the last couple of weeks, which is why I didn't meet you personally and which is why, I was unable to discuss it with her." Adian explains, without going into details.

"Now I am wondering if he somehow believes the lies he was told since he's been incarserated? Adian says.

What lies, I wonder but if I ask, they will only shut me down because they all believe that I'm crazy! Looking up at aDian, frowning. He knew and hasn't sa"id anything to me either?

Why did Ryan walk out? He would obviously know because they were business partners and friends, I think.

Why isn't Mr. Gussippie answering my question? He did say to speak to him only and now, he's either speaking to Adian or himself and they think I'm crazy?

"Is someone going to answer me or do I have to visit David Sullivan, to find out?" I stood up and rudely walked out the living room, tired of answers being withheld from me, because I'm fragile.

I started running up the stairs when I heard footsteps behind me. Adian knew, he knew and didn't say anything to me!

I didn't stop running until I fell in front of the mirror, where the girl was sitting with a sad smile curling on her lips staring back at me.

Adian threw himself beside me in front the mirror, "Hailey, don't please" Adian pleads, don't go back there, please," he begs, but I was staring at the guy sitting beside the girl in the mirror.

Twitching my eyes, blinking rapidly.

He loves the girl in the mirror. He reaches out and caresses the girl's hair, then with his fingers on her chin, tries to get her attention, but she was ignoring him, because she was focused on me.

"No forget about me, talk to him." I suggested to the girl, nodding to the guy in mirror. "He loves you, I can see that, he loves you" I continued speaking softly to the girl in the mirror.

The guy in the mirror seem taken aback, grabbing the girl by her chin, swiftly turning her face to focus on him, while Adian did the same, forcing me to look at him.

"Who are you talking to?" He asks with concern, staring at the mirror then back at me. "Who are you speaking to Hailey?" Adian's voice suddenly, firm and cold, his fingers sinking into my chin, which he held firmly, between his hard fingers.

"I.." I opened my mouth to explain, but Basil's words suddenly rang in my head. If I were to say anything Adian doesn't understand, he might agree with his mother and send me to a mental institute.

He didn't even see the couple stuck in the mirror, or maybe he saw them but didn't care!

"Hailey!" Adian yells, his brows knitted together, his nostrils flaring close to me. "F**king talk to me," he insisted impatiently, as I tried to push his fingers of my chin.

Just as suddenly as he spoke he let me go, causing me to fall backwards but he didn't seem perturbed by it, he just glared down at me angrily.

With what I assume to be a disgusted sneer, he turns and walks out, only stopping at the door.

"I'll have Gussippie postpone your father's hearing, you're clearly not ready to be reunited with him," were Adian's final words when he stormed out, slamming the door with a loud bang.

"He never slammed the door before." I told the girl in the mirror, realising, the man who looked at her adoringly, a few moments ago, also left her as sad and broken as I felt.

I couldn't respond to the soft knocking on the door, even though the knocking continued, leaning my head against the mirror, I listen to the knocking sound.

When the knocking stopped, I closed my eyes in relief because the person left, but after a few minutes, I opened my eyes when the knocking started again but still I refused to answer.

"Hailey?" A feminine voice called, but I didn't budge, even when Mrs. Harris walked into the bedroom. I didn't hear footsteps on the thick carpet, but I heard her come in and then felt her hand on my shoulder.

Without speaking she stooped and holding my hands pulled me off the ground without my approval but I didn't want to fight with this kind woman, who has done nothing but treat me well.

She lead me to the bed and "you can come in," she invited someone over her shoulder. I knew it's not Adian because he will not wait for an invitation to come in. He would just invade the room, take control and boss me around.

Looking over her shoulder, I see a nervous looking Ryan walking into the room with a surprise expression.

"You haven't made any changes to this bachelor room," he says observantly.

Following his gaze, "it's not my room" I retorted but then I remembered him always saying our bedroom.

"I'm a horrible wife!"
