Gerard came to pick us up since Basil had to take Adian to Mr. Gussippie's office.
I remained stunned the entire ride to the penthouse because Mr. Gussippie calling Adian the day before the Judge renders a verdict is scary, especially when Adian is drunk!
I'm his daughter, why wasn't I notify and taken along with them?
Ryan and Gerard had a late lunch while Mrs. Harris continue with dinner preparations while Emmy kept her company with stories about her day at school and showing her excitement to be home for the next two days after tomorrow, so that she can sleep late.
"Hey, little lady," I walked around the table to give Emmy a side hug. "Since when is sleeping late a pleasure, huh?" I frowned at her.
Staring back at me with a small innocent smile, "since they no longer have naptime at school." Emmy responded softly.
Before I could respond, I heard Ryan's fork hit his plate and he starts coughing intensely.
I rushed to rub his back while Mrs. Harris tried to give him some water.
As his coughing subsided, his eyes running water, he smiles at Emmy. "You made grandpa choke," he chuckle accusingly while Emmy stared back at him with as much concern as we felt.
"Are you okay?" She asks instead and he nods and smiles at me, "what she said just now," Ryan chuckles, "was a brilliant answer." He winks at Emmy.
Slapping Ryan's shoulders lightly, "don't encourage her," I warned him, pointing at Gerard who was also trying to subdue his laughter. "And you too," I threatened, pointing at him.
"Come let's take a bath and change out of your school clothes," without waiting for her response, I tugged her off the chair and pulled her along with me.
Trying not to think about why Mr. Gussippie called Adian, I occupied myself with Emmy and wait for Adian.
Mel ended up joining us and we chat and spent time watching Emmy's favourite shows.
"We have to practice spending time watching shows that doesn't interest us," Mel winks and I blush at what she's insuating.
Emmy look on curiously at us but she didn't comment, which is scary because she could blurt out our conversation at the worst possible moment.
"Now Emmy, when us girls hang out together, you're not suppose to repeat the stuff we discuss. Ok?" I warned.
Ignoring me, Emmy looks over my shoulder with a big goofy grin on her face.
Darn you Adian!
Rushing forward, I see her rushed into Adian's open arms and giggle as he lifts her in the air.
Kissing her cheek, "I heard you make grandpa and uncle Gerard choke while eating?" He asks with a sly smirk, sending me a wink.
Of course they had to tell him and I didn't even mention it to Mel.
"See you," Mel whispers to me, then nods at Adian before quietly exiting the room.
I tried to read Adian's expression but it's difficult because I only saw his exhaustion.
Putting Emmy down on her bed, stay here until we fetch you to go down for dinner," Adian whispers to Emmy before kissing her on the head.
From the moment we stepped out of Emmy's room, "why did daddy's lawyer call?" I asked quickly but Adian gives me a weird happy grin and throws his arm around my shoulder affectionately.
"Let's take a shower first," he says, suggestively.
Blushing, I look away shyly but followed him for the shower we were both in need of.
Emmy wasn't in her room when we finally made it out of our room, with Adian wearing a short joggers and T-shirt, while I wore a shorts and a casual top.
Mrs. Harris and Gerard were missing from around the table, so the group became smaller but at least the family was here.
Adian still hasn't said why daddy's lawyer called so, I have to wait but at least I can give them the good news I got form Mr. Knox today.
"So I have some good news," I said, as I dished out dinner for Adian and myself. Not waiting, I continued, "Mr. Knox came by," I added, dragging my chair closer to the table, as I tried to make myself comfortable.
The chattering around the table had cease. Even Emmy's, when I looked around to see all eyes on me, staring expectantly at me.
"And?" Adian asked, his eyebrows creasing as he stares at me curiously.
"All our shares are safe," from the corner of my eye, I see Emmy quietly listening and looking on. "From you know who and who." I explain, tilting my head at Emmy, hoping they understand the code.
Adiana and Ryan shares a relief smile.
"How can you be sure?" Ryan asks cautiously.
I glance at Adian before answering Ryan's question, "He secured my inheritance, with my shares at SullaKnights, when I was getting married," I was responding according to what Mr. Knox explained, when Ryan interrupted me, rather abruptly.
"Even from your father?" Curling his lips in disgust, he wait for me to answer him.
"Dad!" Adian called with a tinge of impatience but both his father and I, continued staring at each other, ignoring him.
"Even from my father," I tell him what he wanted to know and added what he didn't asked. "And your wife." I added, turning to give Adian a small smile when I felt the palm of his hand on my thigh.
Sighing deeply from the other end of the table, "now the only thing we have to worry about is Knights Foundation." Ryan says, staring at Adian and I with a grim smile.
"Adian and my shares are also safe and untouchable." I tell them. "Even Alan shares are tied to mines, where I can keep him on board as a silent member." I added, lifting my chin at Ryan. "Yours are the only questionable one, should you divorce Ameila." Which could be a problem for him.
