Adian wasn't aware that I saw his expression before Gerard pulled up in front of him and Ryan, so I went along with his pretence of being unbothered, about anything.
As Adian and Ryan entered the vehicle I gave them two icy cold bottle waters since they've had enough alcohol in their systems for the afternoon.
"I have one stop to make at my apartment," I informed them with a shrug, since Gerard was already heading in that direction.
Leaning his head against the backrest, "wake me when we get home," Adian mummers softly.
Reaching out I touch his forehead, "oww, my baby had to much to drink?" I joked, aware that he's more stressed than drunk.
Lifting his hand, Adian grabbed my hand that's rubbing his forehead and place it against his chest.
Breathing softly, I realize Adian was asleep and so was Ryan, by the sound of his light snores.
Easing my hand that Adian clutched against his chest, I open my handbag and took out the cash I withdrew for Amos.
Adian has never commented about me helping others and I use my money but I still like him to be involved.
Like Adian, I leaned my head against the backrest, allowing my mind to drift.
Where would my father live when he is released from prison?
Should I make my penthouse available for him and if the court approves, Adana?
I still need to know about the mansion I use to call home but I can't remember. Would daddy want to live there?
With Ryan living with us, I will not make him uncomfortable by bringing my father there but I will have to make arrangements for him.
Adana!
Turning my head I stare at Adian's sleeping form wondering if he called the home.
I already meddle enough by sending a request for her to stay there and Sister Ally won't want me imposing.
Church tomorrow, we'll just go to church tomorrow to see for ourselves.
Gerard pulls in front of my apartment, the place I called home since my mom died, smiling at the beautiful memories I had growing up alone and independent.
Gerard open the door for me in the on going traffic because Adian was blocking me on the other side.
"Amos!" I rushed forward to greet him with a slight hug.
"Ms. Sullivan, I missed you." He greets me with a warm smile dancing on his lips.
Nodding in agreement with him, "I missed you too," I looked around the lobby, "and I miss this place," I said but turn to the vehicle where Adian was asleep, "but I love my new life," I admitted softly, which is all because of the family I craved, growing up.
Holding me at arms length, Amos stares me from head to toe, the simple armless, purple dress flowing down to my claves.
"And you look good," Amos smiles, contented to see me happy.
Reaching in my handbag, "I can't stay," I said while taking out the cash, "but I wanted to drop this off until I can do some shopping." I explain the reason for the cash.
Amos accepted groceries from me but he was always uncomfortable accepting money, which is why I did all of his shopping.
"Take it" I insisted, then gave him a separate amount, "and this is for the other security," I looked to the vehicle where Gerard stands looking around.
Amos follows my gaze, "I know you're busy," he says softly, his eyes now full of concern. "I saw the news," he says, watching me closely. "I hope he comes home soon." He says, nodding his head slowly.
Reaching out I hug him, "I hope so too." I whispered, "I hope so too." Pulling away, I nod to Gerard. "I will be back during the week or weekend again," I promised, already walking unto the sidewalk and towards Gerard, when Amos suddenly shoved me, screaming.
As I hit the sidewalk, a heard a loud bang and Gerard shouting, "STAY DOWN! STAY DOWN!"
I tried to get up despite Gerard's warning but my hand was hurting which made it impossible.
The loud sound continued but I was only afraid when I saw Amos unmovable on the ground.
Forcing myself, I crawled towards him crying.
"NO! NO! NO! Please God no!" I cried, touching his head, as he lay unconscious on the sidewalk.
Lifting myself to raise his head, I turn when I heard Adain shouting now.
"STAY DOWN!" He shouts, firing to the right, over Gerard's shoulder, with a gun he was holding.
Adian has a gun? I wondered, stupidly.
He's shooting at someone while Gerard, is stooping beside the passenger door, shooting at someone in the same direction as Adian.
"FUCK!" I heard Adian curse but couldn't lift my head higher to see what's going on.
"Amos?" I called in the midst of the gunplay. "Amos please tell me you're okay." I cried now. "Mom, please keep Amos alive for me, please," I pleaded.
Police sirens were blaring in the distance, when the shooting finally ceased, with Adian slumping to the ground and his father exiting the vehicle, touching his shoulder and Gerard's, before making eye contact with me.
I did this!
Raising my body, with my eyes on Adian, I lift Amos head and search to see where the blood that stained his uniform, was running from.
"Ger, you okay?" Adian asks his friend. I look up to see Gerard getting off the sidewalk and Adian helping him, while still holding the gun I never knew he owned.
Ryan took Amos's head from my arms, "is he alive?" I cried to Ryan, forgetting how to check for a pulsebeat because of fear.
Turning to Adian, "CALL BASIL!" I screamed, "Emmy!" I cried again, lowering my voice.
Moving beside me, "they're okay," he assures me but how does he even know that?
Pulling out his phone, while checking my body for bruises.
"OUCH!" I winced, when he touched my shoulders.
