Chapter 9

As the group trekked through the wasteland the realm of magic was, they began to lose hope.

"How much longer?" River groaned.

"A couple more minutes." Bliss said.

"What's your power exactly?" Ripple asked.

"Whoa, that's neat." Ash laughed.

"What about the dark mages, what do they do?" Breeze asked.

"They cancel out our powers." Bliss explained. "Why, have you met some?"

Crystal aimed her wand at a rock and shot a light blue blast of light hurtling towards it.

The rock blew up and bits and pieces rained down on the group.

"Holy crap!" Ash yelled.

Breeze used a strong gust of air to deflect the rocks.

"Crystal, what was that for!?" Ripple asked.

"I just wanted to test out my wand." Crystal protested.

"You're crazy, you know that." Ash said.

Crystal raised an eyebrow. "Says the guy who burnt down my house."

"Hey I was young." Ash snapped.

"Oh really, you were the same age as River and she was able to control her powers at six."

"Actually, I wasn't able to-" River was cut off by a ball fire whizzing past her face.

"Ok everyone, let's just calm down." Breeze said.

Crystal fired a wave of blue light that knocked everyone down. "You killed my mother!"

Ash stood up but Crystal grabbed him by his shirt collar. "Put me down."

Crystal raised her wand and prepared to strike.

Bliss fired a purple blast towards the two. "Guys, calm down."

Crystal let go of Ash.

"What's gotten into you Crystal?" Breeze asked.

"I, I don't know."

"We need to keep moving, you don't want to be here at night." Bliss said.

The group continued to trek through the barren wastelands.

Icy was falling asleep and tripped over something.

"Are you ok?" River asked.

Icy nodded but then screamed.

Crystal turned around and saw a giant dragon.

It had pink transparent wings and a purple body.

Ripple looked around, "Where did Bliss go?"

Bliss was hiding behind a rock.

Ash fired a ball of fire at the Dragon.

The Dragon raised its tail and sharp spikes rained down on them.

Crystal waved her wand and a blue force field deflected the spikes.

Breeze flew up into the air, "Come and get me!"

The dragon chased after her as the others ran for their lives.

"Look, it's the Aqua realm!" River yelled.

Ripple and River jumped into the water.

Both Ash a Crystal hesitated.

"Come on guys." Breeze said while she was hovering over the water.

"I can't go in there, I'll die." Ash said.

Crystal turned back and saw the dragon chasing after them. She hopped in and sank down to the bottom. As she sanks, her wand slipped from her hands. She tried to reach it but her eyes were closed. She felt something lift her to the surface.

"What's she doing here?" Someone asked.

"Look, a fire mage!"

Crystal opened her eyes.

A small group of water mages swam towards Ash.

Bliss tackled Ash to the ground as the dragon flew over them.

The water mages screamed and swam away.

Breeze grabbed Ash and Bliss and flew them up into the air.

Ripple and River resurfaced.

"Next time, make sure we can all survive in the conditions." Ash yelled from Breeze's arms.

Icy peeked out from behind a rock, "Is it gone?" She asked.

Ripple nodded and looked towards the trail of broken rocks.

Bliss raised his hands and Crystal's wand appeared in her hands.

"How did you do that?" Crystal asked.

"Magic." Bliss said quietly.

"I mean actually how did you do it?"

"I told you, it's literally magic." Bliss said.

The group continued down a path that went through the Aqua realm.

"I feel like we're moving from place to place too quickly, we started at school, then the ring, now here." Breeze said.

Icy looked around every so often she would start crying then would stop.

"She's really shy, isn't she. Bliss asked.

"Bliss, her realm was attacked, I wouldn't blame her." Ripple said.

Bliss shrugged, "Whatever."

Ash and Bliss talked about stuff that the girls didn't understand.

Ash seemed happy that there was another boy to talk to.

After a few hours, they arrived in the nature realm.

"I hate this place." Ash groaned.

"Dude, you hate almost every realm." Bliss laughed.

"People are just rude, they assume that I'm evil." Ash sighed.

It was true, the fire mages had a bad reputation.

"They're not all evil." Ash said.

"Like you." Crystal said happily.

Ash smiled for a second but it faded almost immediately.

"Look, I'm sorry for going all psychopathic on you." Crystal said.

Ash looked the other way and continued talking with Bliss.

Breeze and Ripple patted Crystal on the back, "It's fine, he'll get over it."

"I hope so." Crystal sighed.
