Chapter eighteen

"You can't do that ,Liza ! Hardy is your destiny and you can't back off from the marriage now.

I will not allow it!"

"Mum,I'm not asking for your permission. This is my life and I will do as I please!

You kept the truth from me all this while so I don't expect you to tell me what to do.

If you told me the truth earlier then I'd have gladly accepted all your terms and conditions!"

"Liza ,believe me when I tell you that there is a solid reason behind it !"Elisa said out of frustration .

"What is the reason mum ?! What is the solid reason that made you keep the truth away from me and wanted me to marry so soon ?!

At this moment , I'd be so surprised if you're still hiding something from me !"Liza wiped off her tears from the corner of her eyes .

"For your own good ,i didn't tell you this earlier but you're right ,you need to know the truth ; even about your nightmares ! You always had contact with a human in your nightmares Liza !

Umm! those were not mere nightmares , they were real and that is the reason why you always woke up feeling weak and pale!

Most aliens who got involved with humans saw the revelations through these nightmares .

That was the same thing you were going through Liza!

I didn't want you to get involved because I knew you would certainly follow your heart and that would lead you to live a cursed life !

Liza,such revelations only destroy the lives of people in our clan.

That nightmare was never possible to be so true without a lifetime consequence , because the darkness and hate between humans and aliens would have kept you both separated!

I did that to save your life Liza ,please believe me . I never intended to hurt you in any way!"Elisa said and broke into tears .

"You knew about the mysteries I was going through mum!

From age one till now ,you kept on deceiving me !

Here I was boasting about having a perfect family but I was wrong.

You betrayed me and that too ,for your selfish reasons !

You told me you were working as a strumpet ,was that a lie too ?!"Liza asked .

"No Liza ! I was working as a strumpet but I only got involved with aliens not humans!

Don't tell me that you don't trust me anymore ,sweetie !"

"So where is my father then ,mum! Tell me who my father is ,because I need to know!

All my life , I've always wanted to meet him so tell me who he is !

Is he an alien god or what ?!"Liza demanded .

"I'm sorry Liza ,but I don't know who your father is !

I got involved with so many aliens and I don't know which of them impregnated me!

It's do shameful telling you this but it's the hard truth !

I was still young ,I needed to make ends meet .

One day ,Landon offered me a job at a casino and I accepted without knowing what I was getting myself into.

I was so desperate that I was ready for anything !

Little did I know that I was employed to be a strumpet !

Initially I refused but I was offered so much money that I couldn't resist .

As time passed by,I came to realise I was pregnant but I couldn't figure out who the father was !

Because three or four alien wizards always had their way with me in a day.

I wanted to abort this pregnancy but it was against the rules of our clan.

I built this cottage in the woods and saved the rest for your education .

I wanted you to have a better life than I had because I knew that I couldn't provide you with a father!

I'm sorry for that !

When I gave birth to you ,you were so weak and I thought you could die at anytime so I was prepared for anything !

One day ,while heading to the market, I almost got run over by a car.

It was Peyton who was driving . She sent me over to her house and upon her glance at you ,she wanted to create an alliance between you and Hardy.

She knew we belonged to the same clan upon seeing the bond mark on your ankle .

I agreed to the alliance and she offered me a great sum of money!"Elisa narrated sadly .

"Of course money ! Ha! Because of money ,I don't have a father and neither do I have a peaceful life !

Why?! It's all because of money ! Your greed for money !

You destroyed my life for money ! You've broken me mum , you've really destroyed me !"Liza broke into deep tears .

"I already said I'm sorry !Yes! I was greedy for money !

I wanted to have all those fancy things in life but when you came into my life ,it changed !

I needed the money but for a different reason !

For your health sake!

I went to jail because I attempted to kill a human who wanted to rape me! I had no choice but to defend myself from him !

Yet,the judge sentenced me to ten years in prison and in hard labour !

Ten years of pain and sorrow!

This is the honest truth about my life Liza!

Do you think that haven't regretted all those things I did .

You wanted to study law and I approved it because I knew that I could get the justice that I was denied some years back !

I know I have made so many mistakes in my life!

I have failed you as a mother but trust me ,when I say that I did all this for your own good !

Everything was for you Liza ,because I love you very much and I don't want you to live a life which is cursed !"Elisa cried out for heaven's sake .

"Yeah I know ! I even studied law because I wanted to get you out of jail !How childish of me at that time ! Had you told me earlier mum ,I would have understood but it's too late !

I don't care about my fate because if love truly exists ,then I would prefer to live a cursed life and die than to live my fate!

I hate this ; this fate and this life !

At least , I know that when I die,I would die peacefully in happiness but when I marry Hardy ,I will die of sorrow!

He claims he loves me but he betrayed me for his selfish intentions!

That is not love , but rather greed and selfishness!

You all used me to fulfill your selfish desires and I'm ashamed to call you family!

You kept me behind the darks ! The secrets ,betrayals ,lies ,selfishness and hidden truths that were hidden have finally come into light and I'm proud to have stepped into light knowing that there is true love out there waiting for me !

Love is sacrifice and I would choose love over my fate!

I'm sorry mum !"Liza angrily left her mother to sob in the room .

"Its been nineteen years since you got stuck on this bed, mum.

I have been waiting eagerly for you to wake up.

I have a lot to tell you so please wake up mum.

You know what? I have fallen in love with someone but I'm afraid ,she will have to suffer the same fate you are in .

I'm scared she will die leaving me behind to live my miserable life.

Mum,I wish you could get up to console me because I'm lost in this world.

At least hold on to my hands and tell me that there's hope of you coming back alive ,please !"Clinton's tears ran down his cheeks in sorrow as he clung to his mother's lifeless body .

"She will never get up son ! She only has a few days more to vanish into thin air. I know you have a lot of plans for her but those plans will never be fulfilled because there is no way a lifeless body would ever come back to life.

It's her fate and she has lived it all. I wished we never got involved with each other but I guess it's too late because the past can never be changed.

I have given up now because her time is almost due and we can't do anything to change it!"Clinton's dad consoled him .

"No dad! You might lose your hope but I haven't because I know she will come back to life!

I'm not giving up on my mother yet . I know that no amount of money can bring her back to life but I know she will surely come back to life!"Clinton held his mother's hands and kissed her knuckles in tears .

"Son,I know you have full faith in your mother's resurrection but I don't want you to get your hopes up and end up getting hurt .

I don't want to see disappointments all over your face.

I always had the hope that you had but it all went down the drain !

Everything was in vain !"He said .

"I'm embarking on a trip and I wanted to know if you would like to come along. It will help you ease your mind off your troubles!"He suggested .

"No dad! I'm not interested ! Safe journey and take care!"Clinton said passing his hands through his mother's hair .

[Sounds of thunder and lightening and it begins to rain].

"Noooooo!"Liza shouted and knelt down on her knees as she cried bitterly.

How tough could life be ? And how harsh it treated me !

I regretted coming into the world at the first place .

I recalled memories with mum and Hardy's family .

Each memory made me curse myself inwardly and I regretted being apart of that family.

A family of lies filled with selfishness and betrayals !

I broke into heavy tears and when I heard someone call out my name ,I turned around but there was no one .

The only thing I could hear was "Liza ,save me !"
