Feeling his heavy head Mike groan in annoyance.
His eyes are tight shut as he lies on something comfortable like fluffy flowers carrying his body.
His mood is good as his mouth is grinning like having a peaceful dream.
However, this was already ended when the sun's light shines on his closed eyes forcing him to wake up.
Having annoyed by the light for a minute Mike wakes up from his slumber as he slowly raises his upper body.
Scratching his head he yawns tiredly. Surprisingly this was his first time yawning for a long time.
Opening his tight eyes he felt something different in his scenery. For a minute of thought, he remembers that he fell unconscious while talking to the man.
Quickly checking his surrounding he notices that he's lying down on a group of leaves. Leaf bed if one would say.
He's not in a room nor in a human settlement but in the open forest. Being disappointed for some reason he pouts.
(Why the hell that man didn't drag me into a hospital or a house or something?)
As he pouts he smells a tint of food's scent not far away from here.
Standing up he felt his stomach agrees to his desire.
Right now since he reached the surface his desire is nothing but tasting food.
Well, that's expected but there's more than that for him to continue his adventure on the surface, right? Well, we should just wait.
He immediately chased the scent of the food but before he could a big familiar stake appears at his front.
It was fast for the half-awake Mike to dodge but fortunately, it stops directly on his face only poking his nose a little as a tint of blood drips down to the soil.
Behind that big stake, the man who's wielding the stake appears.
(Geh! Looking up close, his build is quite big.)
"What are you doing?" the man's voice is intimidating as ever but Mike didn't lose his composure. He was just surprised by the sudden appearance of the man but because of that, he was now fully awake.
Answering his question Mike opens his mouth to talk however his stomach interrupted him and did the talking.
*Growl* complaint by his stomach.
Hearing the noise the man looks behind him to guess Mike's path and sees the food that he is cooking.
Dropping his stake and impaling it to the ground the man said;
"Stay there."
The man walks away and grabs the food. Mike obediently listens to the man's order as he sits down waiting patiently for the food.
Not a moment had passed the man brought some food. Every step he takes the smell keeps getting stronger as Mike drool in hunger.
What the man was brought is a single pot, the small size pot that Mike saw earlier.
Bringing down the pot in front of him Mike immediately grabs it but he quickly was interrupted by the man.
"Wait."
The man takes a seat and grabs the pot without looking at Mike's reaction. He gulps it down as Mike cries in blood.
(This is pure torture!) Mike unconsciously releases a little bit of killing intent but sadly it's too little for the man to notice. Mike may be also unconsciously holding himself back for anyone not to notice.
The man puts down the pot leaving half of its content to Mike.
The pot is small, to begin with, and now it's been halved. Mike groans in disappointment when this was the hospitality that he receives.
(No proper house, no proper food, and no proper hospitality... Do you think that we're some caveman surviving in nature? Where are the others anyway?)
Instead of giving a direct complaint Mike accepted the pot and eat the food with gratitude. It's better to eat a little than nothing.
Having his hunger calm down a little the pot is already empty before he could taste something. Gulping all down Mike feels nothing from eating from the food on the pot.
Moving on.
Mike speaks some words towards the man.
There's something that he cannot ignore.
Living in the forest alone, not seeing any other human and the weird strength this man got. Everything is strange to Mike.
Pointing at the empty pot and he opens his mouth.
"Meat."
"What?"
"No meat."
Yes, what strange in this place is that Mike didn't taste any meat.
Nothing is much disappointing than eating food without meat.
Sorry towards the vegans but Mike who lives underwater for years and only eating raw fish of course he can't wait to taste some real meat.
His tongue is getting used to speaking a little as he continues to pin down the problem.
"Why no meat?"
Hearing this complaint the man immediately gives a rough reply.
"Meat is expensive."
"We're in the forest why would you buy one if you can just hunt one?"
"Because hunting meat is hard."
"Hard? Looking at your build there's no way you could catch one."
"You don't get it to do you?"
"Please, I know enough about what kind of animal is edible or not."
"You really are from 2019."
"What's with the evolution in you anyway? Is evolution is now popular?" Blurted out by Mike. His tongue is getting better and better at a quick pace.
The man notices something about his words.
"Wait..." said the man as he caught up something weird.
He continued;
"Did you know the speed-up evolution? You said you're from 2019, right?"
"More or less yeah."
The man barely believes Mike's words when he said that he came from 2019. Mike is not a time traveler but he's more like a time capsule.
He glares at Mike. Not using his usual killing intent but his atmosphere started to feel cold like everything other than him turns black.
There is only he and him, there's nothing that would interrupt this serious question.
"I've wanted to ask you more to know if you're lying or not but it seems there's no need for that."
The atmosphere is heavy. Mike also felt something like this from the past but not quite as heavy as this.
Gulping his own saliva, Mike resolves himself about what will happen to him.
He who doesn't have the knowledge about the present world will lead him to his fate.
From questioning meat to questioning his life. Mike regretted complaining about something he shouldn't say to him.
"Let me asks you again..."
*Badump*
"What... Are you?"
