CHAPTER 21

“Ndu m (my life)” A familiar voice screamed and held her legs in a tight embrace. Ada needn’t look to know who it was. The little boy was fond of calling her ‘his life’ after she had saved him from a very dangerous fever, whom everyone had believed was a curse from the gods. Well, she had proven them wrong with some decoction from sunflower plant.

“Ewo!” Ada exclaimed and rooted her feet firmly to the ground. Roars of laughter ocean the compound as those who saw the incident watched with so much amusement.

“Amadi, if I fall,” Ada threatened jokingly “You will get the best ram from Umunta village to appease me”

“I am sorry big sister Erima,” The little boy said and released his tight grip “but my heart is always overwhelmed with joy whenever I see the brightness of your face. You saved my life when no one else can”
