The Alpha is Dead

Dawn's POV

I follow the string deep into the forests surrounding the pack borders, everything seems quiet, almost too quiet. No birds could be heard chirping, no forest animals can be heard scuffling through the bushes that litter the forest floor. The pull gets stronger and stronger as I follow the trails left behind by the border patrol and stumble as I trip over a stray tree root. I hiss as I tuck my body allowing my legs to brace the impact and I lay flat against the forest floor looking up at the tops of the trees. I turn my head to the side to glance at the root I tripped over, I gasp to find the arm of a pack wolf in its place.
