Rosalie POV:
“A shirt that landed in my hands.” I squeaked out, not sure exactly weather I made the situation worse by my petty excuse.
“Keep it,” he said before dropping the clothes I had requested and making his way towards the door.
“I’ll be back to drop you off in the next 10 minutes,” he said, and I heard the door closing next.
“Well, that was easy,” I mumbled, letting out a deep breath and begun changing into my clothes.
Just as he had said. He returned in the next ten minutes, and upon typing my address on the GPS, we buckled up and hit the road.
Unlike Giovanni’s grumpy ass, Isaac here was a whole new comedian. Bringing me to a point where tears of joy had poured out as I clutch my tummy from the uncontrollable laughter.
One would think we really close friends and not employer and employee but what can I say. The world truly needs more employers, like my friend Isaac, over here.
“You actually did that!?” I asked, bursting into another fit of laughter.
“The good old days Rosalie the good old days.” He said, grinning widely. The GPS interrupted our conversation, informing us of our arrival.
“Well, thanks for the ride Mr Trevor Noah.” I said between laughs while unbuckling my seat.
“Who’s that?”
“One South African comedian.”
“I’m glad you found me funny.” He grinned, oozing out a boyish charm to which had me drawn and this close to being a victim of his charm. Keyword “this close.”
“That’s the apartment I live in.” I stated, pointing at the building with a smile on. He followed where my finger pointed at and suddenly his smile vanished and his expression became unreadable.
“You leave there?” He asked. Somehow his eyes pleading that I say no.
“Yes, is there anything wrong?”
“No.. of course not” he let out a dried chuckle, not to mention the half-baked smile he had on his face.
“You don’t seem yourself. Would you like to come up for coffee?”
“I’ll have to pass, maybe next time?” he declined with a half-baked smile.
“Yeah sure... Next time,” I repeated before going out of the car and waving him goodbye.
“Thanks for the ride Mr. Foster junior.”
“It’s “Issac” Rosalie".
“Right... Bye” I said waving at his now retreating car which was now out of sight.
Making my way inside the building. I am quick to make it at my apartment door and leave three hard knocks while I patiently wait for one of my parents to open up. Seconds turned into minutes, and I was quick to give up concluding they had locked me out.
Turning my back at the door while slouching on the wall, I go through my handbag to reach my phone, but the apartment door opposite me opens up, revealing Giovanni.
“You seem to be everywhere I am recently,” he says while leaning on the doorjamb.
“Well, we leave in the same building what do you expect.” I said, rolling my eyes and continuing my search.
“Mm I suppose. Your parents left me your house keys saying in case you arrived early and they had yet to come.” he said.
“Why would they leave it with you, of all people?”
“Who knows?” He smirked, standing up straight. “I guess I’m not only charming but mixed with an aura of honestly making people confined in me.”
“Right, you all in one,” I mumbled, grabbing the keys from his hands and turning to unlock the door but stop when they is an electricity outage.
“What just happened,” Giovanni asked, genuinely shocked and curious.
“It’s an electricity outage where electricity goes and comes back after a couple of hours."
“And you people live like that?”
“What do you mean by ‘you people' I say, giving him a mean look, not that he could see it, anyway..
“Um.. sorry I’ll just head back.” he says, turning his back to me and speeding up my anxiety.
“Wait!”
“What is it?”
“You weren’t just planing on leaving me all alone in the... dark?” I say, whispering the last part.
“Well, yes, I don’t remember being responsible for any child.”
Ugh, this hippo! did he just call me a child! Keep cool rose keep cool, you need him at this point.
“Well... I was thinking if you could per… haps let me sta...sta stay with you till electricity returns?” I mumbled, looking up at him hopefully. Yet the chimpanzee that he is quickly shuts me down with a “No” with little thought. He turns to leave again, but I am quick to hold on to his shirt.
“Please, I’ll do anything,” I plead. Hoping to find sympathy within his cold personality.
“Anything?” he repeats.
“Any...” I pause and redefine the term “anything”. Which might I add isn’t wise for me to use.
“Um... Well, that was me being forward. Here's what I’m offering: I shall clean and cook for you for an entire week at 6:30pm when I’m back from work. Hows that?” I grin broadly, thinking how good of an offer it is, but my grin soon fades away when he says he has a helper who does it.
“For a month?” I try to which he attempts to leave.
“Ok, ok, ok plus I’ll do grocery shopping for you?
Listen how about look at the pros and they aren’t even cons. I’ll help you clean and cook, which saves you whatever money you paying that maid of yours and two you no longer have to go grocery shopping where people mistake you for Mr Giovanni De spinach or whoever.
He tenses at my last statement but is quick to recover, making me doubt my observation skills.
“They are one con though”
“And that is?”
“You being around for an entire month?” He groans, making me seem like a chore. I simply give him a dull look, to which he burst out laughing.
“Looks like you got yourself a deal.” He grins and stretches his hand out for a handshake, to which I slap away and make my way inside his home, but the darkness I’m engulfed in is quick to remind me why I’m even tolerating Giovanni!
