“Please… kill… me…”
The nameless person uttered with the little sanity he regained.
“. . .”
Dright did not answer and just stared at the nameless person with pity. Dright can understand why that person wanted to die. He is a victim of cruel human experimentations that utilized the usage of Oblivoid genes. Who knows what other terrible tests and medication these guys went through to lose almost all of their sanity? Not to mention, the Crow-head that got knocked out earlier seemed to have gone through things worse than this man and has no spec of reason left.
“… Why..?” Dright asked anyway, hoping what he thought was not the case. The nameless guy smiled wryly with tears swelling up his eyes.
“There is… no way of… saving us anymore… the Oblivoid genes that were implanted within me… will soon consume all of my cells… turning me into an Oblivoid… just like him…” The nameless guy said weakly, almost like a whisper, catching his breath after every phrase as he looked at the fallen Crow-headed person.
“. . .”
Dright listened silently… He brought out his gun and pointed it at the nameless guy.
“Thank you…”
Gunfire resounded within the area as Dright pulled the trigger and shot the head of the nameless person, ending his life.
“Tsk…” Dright had a bitter look on his face as he clicked his tongue with shadows overshadowing his face. He may be merciless to the Grimmers, but it was different when he was dealing with a victim. He turned his back on the corpse, then took out an earpiece and contacted Ceda.
“Ceda, retrieve these guys… have them analyzed, and if possible, identify them…”
“Understood…” Ceda replied, then two robots came out of the facility and carried the two motionless bodies with their robotic arms. Suddenly, Ceda’s voice rang on Dright’s earpiece.
“WARNING!! WARNING!! DANGER DETECTED!!”
Dright immediately looked for what the warning was indicating and saw the crow-head’s body glowing red.
Dright knew what was about to happen instantly and created a portal near the two robots and one more far above the ground, surpassing his five hundred meter limit of accuracy.
“Throw them in!” Dright commanded the two robots carrying the bodies that had voice recognition installed within them. The robots immediately hurled the bodies towards the portals like Dright instructed them. Soon after, an explosion was heard, coming from the sky, followed by another explosive sound with a bit delay from the first one. It was from the two motionless bodies earlier.
Self-destruction. It was the danger that Ceda sensed from the bodies that glowed bright red.
“Those bastards… they have gone too far…” anger was seen on Dright’s face. By ’them’ he meant the Grimmers, the organization heartless enough to do such things.
“Delayed explosions… it probably triggered when they were rendered unconscious…” Dright thought and contacted Ceda to record and inform his father before opening another portal that leads to the other threats. Now he knows it is useless to try to capture these people because all of them are berserk, and immobilizing them is close to impossible without rendering them unconscious first, and by doing so, it would trigger the self-destruction mechanism within them. Knowing these facts, Dright sighed heavily.
. . .
Meanwhile, within the city
"WARNING. RANK C THREAT DETECTED. EVACUATE IMMEDIATELY. THIS IS NOT A DRILL. REPEAT. THIS IS NOT A DRILL."
Alarms resounded across the city, warning its citizens. As the people heard this, they proceeded immediately with the usual evacuation routes. Several metallic doors across the city opened immediately, which lead the citizens to the evacuation grounds with humanoid automatons and Haulus guarding them.
Meanwhile with Raven
"WARNING. RANK C THREAT DETECTED. EVERYBODY IS REQUIRED TO STAY WITHIN THE SCHOOL GROUNDS."
A different alarm rang within Royal Chaos Academy since it is fully-armed with the latest technology. Students currently within the school showed varying expressions, some remained calm, some panicked, and some ignored it. Quare had a worried look on her face while Rheyya remained calm, and Lia kept drinking her juice given by Rheyya. At the same time, Raven's phone vibrated, receiving a message from Chief Xion, signaling her that something urgent happened. Raven got up from her seat.
"Where are you going, Raven-senpai?" Quare asked.
"To the washroom. Please, look after Lia while I'm out." Raven answered as she waved her hand and walked towards her destination.
As Raven reached the washroom, she took out her phone. She swiped the message upward until it was out of the screen. A hologram emerged out of nowhere, containing the data contained in the letter from Xion, which had the data earlier from Ceda's screen. Raven analyzed it and saw two of the subjects along with a short note.
“These people are part of the Grimmers' human experimentations…”
“Which means… their the same as Lia…” As Raven read the note, it reminded her of the Grimmers’ cruelty, feeling pity. Soon after, Raven heard two consecutive explosions, and at the same time, additional data got added to the hologram.
“These people are being controlled with the red crystal collar that they are wearing. They also have delayed self-destruction, triggered when they are either killed or rendered unconscious. They glow bright red as an indication for the trigger…”
Raven took out an earpiece and contacted Ceda.
“Ceda, can you show me the situation outside the gates, please?”
Raven contacted Ceda and got a reply immediately.
“Understood…” Another hologram appeared beside the first hologram that showed what the surveillance cameras are seeing by the gates. There were two experimental subjects of the Grimmers seen on the holographic screen. One had a hard-looking tail with a muscular body with the end of it shaped like a spiked ball. The other one grew giant insect wings, and it started to fly over the gate but got blocked and zapped by the invisible forcefield of the school, making it fall to the ground.
The person that fell to the ground squirmed but soon got up again and flapped its wings, creating a buzzing sound. Meanwhile, the other person with a spiked tail attacked the academy gate, but it did not even dent it. He prepared his fists afterward and started punching the gates, omitting noises and tremors which alarmed the students inside the school. Seeing this, Raven hurriedly ran outside to confront them as fast and unnoticeable as possible.
Meanwhile, within the city
A certain red-haired boy was walking around the city, sighing heavily.
“Why does this had to happen after I return from my assignment…” He sighed again. It was Crimson Bladdielle. Earlier this morning, Crimson was deployed outside of the city to exterminate two B-class Oblivoids which were spotted near the walls. After finishing his job and was planning on reporting back to the Academy, the city alarm rang, requiring him to assist in any way possible since he was out of the Academy.
Crimson was walking along the street, patrolling the city. But then suddenly, his stomach growled, reminding him of something.
“Come to think of it… I haven’t eaten lunch yet…” he said, releasing another heavy sigh.
