Hayleigh was in the middle of researching in the library when someone tapped her on the shoulder.
“I’m sorry. We’re about to close for the night,” the librarian said.
Hayleigh looked at her watch. It was already half past ten in the evening. She closed her books and hurriedly stacked them in her arms.
“Don’t worry, dear. Just leave them on the cart.” The librarian patted her back. “I’ll take care of it.”
“Thanks.” Hayleigh smiled, picking up her bag. “Sorry for the trouble.”
Hayleigh walked past the library doors, briefly stopping to take in the evening air. She wanted nothing more than to collapse into bed and sleep all day tomorrow, but she had to be back at the library in a few hours’ time to continue working on her term paper.
